I think just maybe, the most decent and easiest automatic map generator to make would be a Monstrata map generator XD the old style ones like Magi diff that strictly follows the triangle grid, a bot should be able to do pull such a map off
@Master0chan7 жыл бұрын
There is also cool storyboard creating programs. While it doesn't directly correlate with mapping the song I think it worth mentioning at least.

i am hoping lazer's editor will have more helpful design (maybe even a useful storyboard editor with alignment and hitobject snapping??) i also really want a simple mobile (tablet) editor, but ui design for that might be weird

Just wanted to say that I think with some machine learning, a program could identify sounds at a specific ms time and suggest where your map's offset, bpm etc should be, then show rhythms like "drums on x timestamp 1/4 etc" because then you could see things youd normally miss

Makes notes flash a little bit every white tick (i think) and causes the star fountains at the corners of the screens when it starts. Only has a real effect in Taiko, where it gives you a small score multiplier whilst kiai is active.

So I had a question - a while ago I saw a program/option where you put in a pre-existing map, and it "shuffles" the map, moving all the objects to different locations while retaining the spacing between each object. Do you (or anyone reading, hi there!) know the name of this program?

Personnal opinion here, I don't think you want to use machine learning for most of the map creation algorithm. It would yield sub-optimal results if you just blindly throw machine learning at this problem. My argument is based on the fact that if an analytical solution exists for a problem, and it's solvable for a computer, then machine learning won't ever be able to beat that. ML is always the last option you should try in case no "easy" solutions exist. You can analyse soundwaves with dft, and extract bpm and offset with that. So automatic bpm and offset finders are "easy". You can extract music intensity with dft too. Finding the function of beatmap intensity with respect to time is "easy", too. The only problem that remains to be solved on paper is placing circles with this information. I believe the best way to do that is to create a score function. You then let the program try a lot of possibilities for note placement, and then let it select the best one it found using this score function. Then it's just rince and repeat until you reach the end of the song. This score function would need a lot of inputs, like: - desired song difficulty - average cursor travel speed from the previous note - how much "circular" was the cursor motion on the last ~3 to 5 notes - etc. That's just a bunch of parameters from the top of my head, but you generally want to put, in the score function, things that you consider when you place a note yourself in the editor. And yes, knowing when to place a slider, when to place a circle, when to map tech, when to map streams, that's pretty hard to tell. You can definitely try to quantify a pattern playstyle (like this is more streamy, this is more jumpy, this is more -you get the point), and take that in consideration in the score function. The problem with quantifying patterns though is that patterns don't necessarily belong to a certain difficulty. You can have slow streams on 3* maps, and simple slow slider jumps to circle on 6*, etc. It is unclear to me if you can extract pattern playstyle using a simple dft function. One way to handle this NOW would be to use machine learning to find the best suited pattern vector for a specific sound section (quantified patterns are in the form of a vector). You could also try to keep some room for random generated inputs in the neural network so that you can use a seed to generate different maps even though every other inputs (difficulty mostly) are the same. So yeah, it's definitely doable. I wouldn't call it easy though. That being said, everything seems clearly doable to me until you hit the pattern quantification problem. I'm actually working myself on a cli app that I hope will be able to provide a lot of tools for map creation. Automatic map generation that are directly rankable is one of the many features I hope to be able to pull off at some point. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull that specific one off myself, but I'm giving it a definite try.
