other things * to specify your map's bg, click and drag it into the editor window. 1280x720 is the preferred resolution I think * ctrl-arrows moves notes by 1 pixel, but if grid snap is on, it moves them by 1 grid unit. this is really buggy so if it doesn't work toggle grid snap on and off again * press g to cycle through different grid snap sizes. * when placing a circle or slider, you can right click on an empty space to toggle new combo. be careful as it might just delete a note * select one slider and go to the "rotate by" menu. if you choose "selection center" for the origin setting, it will rotate around the slider head. this also works for scaling * have a nice slider shape but it's too long or too short? open scale by. move the slider to the SMALLEST setting that works for OCD symmetry * ctrl-← and → to move between bookmarks. * I believe it's ctrl-p to add a new redpoint, and ctrl-shift-p to add a new greenpoint. * time your map properly the first time, because resnapping notes and fixing greenpoints after-the-fact is l i t e r a l l y d i c k s * while you're busy in the "song setup" screen, might as well turn the audio down. 100% (the default) is way too loud for most songs * in osu!'s main options page, there's a setting to use the default sampleset in the editor. if your osu! skin has custom hitsounds, turn on that option so you don't make weird hitsound errors (looking at you Shiro and that weird ass section of Alpha Scorpii) * your first map will be shit so expect to have it go through lots of changes and a remap or two before rank. when #modhelp isn't busy memeing, there's always people willing to help. even if it seems dead af in there post anyways, lots of people lurk. * if your map is submitted, you can easily link it in irc by selecting it in song select and typing /np have fun

I like using grid snapping because I like doing symmetrical and geometrically satisfying stuff so my map looks good. Hey, I think it works for the music I pick for my maps, but if it's just some generic map, I guess grid snap could be turned off and the map could be pretty fast to make. It's also useful for making streams not look ugly.

@danielyuan98622 жыл бұрын
Pishifat lied. Circles aren't just "click". It places a circle where you click _and_ at the time you are currently at (to the nearest tick), placing a second circle will replace the first circle because they are placed _at the same time._ If you scroll through the time before placing your second note, you should be fine.

I have two questions: 1. How do you use a certain combo color for the first time halfway into a song without using the same combo for like 50 beats in a row? I assumed it would work with green lines but I do not find an option to change it. 2. Am I the only one whose mouse is badly calibrated in the mapping tool? The point that my mouse is pointing at is always slightly more in the right than the signal-point.
