Wow, thanks for the send off Nova Scotia! 😅Since filming and editing this video, Hurricane Fiona has now left and we are starting to see the damage she's left behind. Thankfully no-one was badly hurt as far as we know, but homes have been washed away and properties damaged. Our hearts go out to those, especially in Newfoundland where entire houses washed into the sea. We're so grateful we made it off Cape Breton and to somewhere safe. Again, our biggest thanks to Nova Scotians who offered us a place to stay. You guys have made this trip for us. We love you and we will certainly be back 💛

Storm chips are for when the power goes out and you can't cook or prepare anything in the dark. That hunter in Cape Breton was probably poaching, there are no firearm seasons open right now (archery is, and black powder opens Sept 26). Glad you have loved Nova Scotia! Sorry your Skyline hike was fogged out, but between sunshine, fog, and hurricane, you sure got the true Atlantic Canada experience!

Thank you for showing off our little piece of the world! The highlands national park is amazing, my partner and I spent the summer of 2021 hiking all 26 trails in the park and staying in 6/7 of the camping areas they had at the time. The next way we plan to see it is by biking the ~100km stretch of the Cabot Trail that runs through the park. You’ll have to come back someday to enjoy it more fully ❤ You’ve definitely earned the honorary Nova Scotian badge after Fiona! She was one of the strongest hurricanes we’ve ever had. I first heard of Meat Cove in the 80's when it was so remote and inaccessible that nobody went there. The locals had a somewhat wild reputation, like the back woods of the Appalachian mountains. At some point it became this must-see place for campers, tourists, and KZbinrs. I think the mystique has been somewhat spoiled.

I was concerned for you and I am glad to see that you were aware enough to escape harm. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy the rest of your adventures here in the Maritime provinces. You may have to alter your plans slightly and explore New Brunswick a bit before going to PEI. Yes, we are on the Bay of Fundy, in Morden. We have seen far worse and this time we suffered no damage and only lost hydro for 10 hours, so thankful for that. Sad time for a lot of people in the rest of Atlantic provinces though. Stay safe, I am enjoying your videos, seeing our beautiful country through someone else’s eyes.

Glad you weathered the storm safely. Hope you come back to Cape Breton and more of its beauty. The west side of the island got off fairly easy but the east side got walloped. We are used to hurricane force winds here -- Cheticamp is the windiest place in Canada!

@@OverlandingSophia we’re managing 🙂 The military is here to help remove trees off roads so they can restore the power. Maritimers are resilient and we’ll get there, just going to take time.. but the damage to the coastal villages and harbours by the storm surge is heartbreaking ❤️‍🩹, it’ll be a while before those bounce back.

Loved it Ben....."Winter is coming". Can't wait till next year when I can visit Nova Scotia. I better get the van ready for some rough roads. My name was drawn to buy tickets for The Open in Royal Liverpool and I bought some, it will be in July. The plan will be to drive the campervan cross country, fly to England see the tournament(Okay, I'm a golf nerd that's why I'm going), then come back, pick up the van and head north to Canada. I loved the music you put to this video, makes you feel like you're really there. Too bad about the fog but you still got some epic scenery and trail adventures. Good to see your friends Charlie and Josh with a new KZbin video, I've missed them. It's been worth pausing on my drive to stop and see all of you traveling. And, glad you 4 are safe and can continue with traveling now that Fiona is gone. Travel on my friends!

At one time the Cabot Trail was a wooden road (or a corduroy road). That was back in the early days of motoring. BTW - you don't have to put the Starlink on the roof. Anywhere on the ground works too, as long as it has a good view of the sky. I had mine in the backyard for a month or so until I put it up on my roof. LOL - Storm chips! Yes you are an honourary Nova Scotian now! You made a good call to get away to where you did. Cape Breton and PEI saw some pretty major damage.

Meat Cove and those communities must have been SO remote before the road the onslaught of tourism! Coming from the UK where you're never far from anywhere, it blows our minds. And this is probably not remote for Canada 😅 And yes, we know the Starlink can go on the floor but it's easier for us on the roof, keeps it out the way and we can run the cable through the back doors 😊 💛

Wow, what a week! To say you've seen it all is a bit of an understatement. But, then, smooth seas never made great sailors, or something like that! The Cabot Trail looks incredible, atmospheric and moody in the misty weather, even if it wasn't as 'pretty' as the popular shots, it still looks amazing! Um, want/need me to post you guys some proper Scottish 'Mac' waterproofs?? LOL, looks like you're getting a right royal dousing in the fall weather. Seriously, just give me a'hoy if you do. So relieved to see you're all safe n sound after Fiona - and that the hounds didn't tear the van apart with cabin-fever! Have a great week, and here's to the open road!! xx
