Hey man, two q's: 1) How would you regress SAQ/Plyo work for an obese, detrained individual? I'm currently too fat to safely do a lot of this stuff and it's been way too long since I was able to do SAQ/Plyo work. As I lose weight and want to start incorporating this type of work... whats something I could do now to prepare (or how should I start once I've lost more weight?) 2) Any tips on how to do the agility drills with a cue when you work out alone?

Chris knows far better than I so prioritize any response from him but I figured I’d try to answer your questions… Start with low impact movements that build strength and coordination without overloading your joints. I’d say begin with basic strength work like bodyweight squats, step-ups, or even just practicing good landing mechanics by stepping off a low platform and landing softly. For agility, you can start slow with controlled lateral steps or walking through an agility ladder to get used to the patterns. You don’t need to go full-speed yet. As you lose weight and build up your base, you can start adding in light skips, hops, or low-impact bounds to ease into the explosive stuff. It’s all gradual progression with the idea of keeping your body healthy while you build a foundation. As for utilizing reactionary drills when alone, that can definitely be a challenge but there are ways to make it work. One thing I’ve seen work really well is using an app that gives random audio cues, like “Left!” or “Sprint!” Or if you have cones, you can assign colors to them and use a randomizer app to pick which cone to react to. A simpler option might be setting a timer to beep at random intervals. When it goes off, just react-shuffle to one side, sprint forward, or do a quick change of direction. The key is to make it unpredictable, so you’re not just going through the motions but actually practicing reaction and decision-making. Hope that helps!
