I have a 2000 honda accord and it leaks bad when I fill up but nothing when its 3 quarter's or less. Have not had it looked at yet but hope it's not a costly fuel tank. Any suggestions?

Tim Burrows Hi, There is the option of being the filling hose to the tank, but the safest thing is the gasoline pump, the cap is made of plastic and over the years it makes small cracks and throws the gasoline

Hi I had the same issue on mitsubishi galant 2002 gas smell strong and was leak on one side of gas tank thought maybe gas tank had leak then noticed the top fuel pump like this vid had gas on top of it not sure if i get new fuel pump too because when i took out fuel pump the black ring that tightens it on was loose i twisted it and it came right off so not sure gas leaking because it was loose and if i tighten maybe fine or just replace with new fuel pump

Can you have a leak only at highway speeds? (higher pump pressure? I am asking cause I dont smell gas but I spend tons of gas on highway speeds. I have a 1.4l 4 cylinder car and its gettign horriblw gs mileage out of a sudden.

On a hunch ima say rear differential cuz I had that problem with my 08 Silverado a while back. Change out the gear oil and check for obvious damage first. (It's probably overdue anyway for some love to the diff)

I have an issue when I fill up the tank it immediately leaks and drips from under the car. I cannot find the leak. I recently had someone put in a new pump and filter. My fuel gauge stopped working a couple days after now this.

Could a leak of this nature also happen if you car is left parked at an angle? (e.g. - The right side of the car is tilted slightly higher than the left.) I filled my tank on Friday, didn't drive over the weekend, and Sunday afternoon my neighbor let me know it looked like I was leaking oil. The only problem with that was that it was at the wrong end (you could see a slow drip off of the fuel tank at the rear of the SUV), and it REEKED like gas. I'm assuming (hoping) for now that the dark color is just gunk/crud that's built up underneath getting rinsed by the fuel. I moved the car to a level spot, let it sit for about 30 min, and the dripping stopped. (Hopefully it's not just pooling somewhere else now.) I'm bringing my car in tomorrow, but this video at least gives me some hope that I'm not about to have to drop a whole ton of money on something crazy just over a month away from Christmas.

You shouldn’t have any leak. Tank is a closed system that makes sure all the gas stays in place. You might just have a break or leak
