Illinois River valley here. The lightning was intense also heavy rain and gusty winds. I'm surprised he didn't show all the lightning in the southwest corner of Oregon.

@@PNWwonder I'm two miles west of Murphy and that was the loudest thunder I've ever heard and I've lived in many states. Poured rain, little branches down, lots of branches down on N. Applegate Rd.

Here in Pleasant Hill Oregon, last night we had weird lightning, huge bright sheets of lightning with loud thunder that lasted 15 seconds, wind and driving rain that sounded like someone was spraying my window with a hose. It was awesome!

We had some high winds in the Cowlitz county WA area with 44 separate power failures. We were without power for 7 hours. KUDOS to the Cowlitz PUD for getting power restored.

In southern Western Oregon. Heard the loudest thunder I ever have heard at 3:20am. My house vibrated, for several seconds! Then a flash of lighten as the thunder faded. Brightness flash of lighting I have ever seen. Freaked us out and the dog?

Me too, me too! Near Murphy Oregon. The thunder was just outside my door, so loud the house shook, lasted forever! Over and over. Lots of lightning. I've been in thunderstorms all over the country. I've never heard anything like that.

Clatskanie, Oregon: lost power, downed trees, ODOT were moving debris from the highway with snow plows. Blew out the side of a neighbors barn. A few small landslides and the pastures are flooded.

Not an under performer in southern Oregon Coast. Lots of damage around Coos Bay, Hauser, Bandon. Most lightning we’ve seen here in the 23 years we’ve lived here.

Had a remix white Christmas. In Hood River, at 750', it snowed from 3:30 until we left at 5:30. Roads snow covered until we got down to I-84. Had a 48mph gust last night. Got 1.0" of rain. Thanks Michael! Mahalo!

Since moving here in '79 I am always home over the Holidays taking care of the dogs and horses. There has never been a storm like last night. Two years ago the Williams Valley Cedar Flat 4 corners area got hit with a tornadic wind that tore up trees and damaged buildings. But last night combined wind, rain and lightning like I've never experienced here. Hope everyone is OK...

At 3:38 AM this morning it didn't sound like the wind storm was under performing at my house. Branches were biting the roof and deck for about an hour and the big trees were shimming and swaying. We were lucky to not lose power.

In 1974,exactly 50 years ago this evening,a deepening low moved east along the Wash/Ore border,drawing down a colder BC air mass.The resulting clash of air masses gave about 10 inches of heavy,wet snow to the Seattle-Olympia Area.Lots of damage from falling trees and branches.The 10"snow depth at Sea-Tac is still a monthly record.

I woke up around 2:30 this morning and when I checked our local barometer reading here in Ocean Shores it had rapidly gone down to 29.11 which was a shock to see it that low but also explained why my sinuses were feeling it.

Sound like you are up above us? We are near Boyds, so don't get as much snow as up above, east of hwy 395 (Barney's to Orient area). We had a good dump that was 3 days from being gone, and then probably 4+" (ruler on the ground inches) after midnight last night. Pretty wet sloppy stuff. The creek sounds like springtime. Normally, it is frozen over, and we have feet of snow. Last year, it was below 0. I do not remember a winter this warm in over 20 years here.

We've had a Tempest for a few years and like it. Super easy to set up and has needed no maintenance. It's nice to keep track of past weather and to be able to see what's going on at home when we're gone.

Would be great to hear your thoughts on the potential polar vortex destabilization forecasted to hit SE Canada, and it's effect it may have on us here in the PNW. Will be keeping an eye on it, as the European and GFS models hint on the cold air potentially spilling over the rockies. Seeing some increased probability of snow machines hitting our mountains in the next few weeks.

The Oregon Coast Reedsport got hit hard with an amazing lightning storm! Made my phone glitch it was like the lightning was stuck in one spot and strike after strike. Several in a minute. Highest winds I've seen this year.

"Under preformed"? lol We had a doozy here on the North *Coast* of Oregon last night! The intense wind began around 10pm and finally started winding down to our more "normal" winter wind storm around 7am. We've lived here for about five years, and this was the strongest sustained wind I believe we've experienced here. It sounded and felt like being in a hurricane. The pressure was so crazy at points that it would slow my standing fan almost to a stop! The power is still out in Cannon Beach, but Seaside and north are good. We definitely have flooding all over, traffic is backed up to 101/26 junction from it. Trees are downed, etc.

Sometimes you should mention twin falls idaho. For bad weather heading that way.. instead of Pocatello... Twin Falls is in the southern part about 48 miles from jackpot. And it's about 3200 feet above sea level. Just a thought. But great work on the weather perditions.

Underperforming my A$$.. entire coastline from Crescent City up through Florence took a huge hit of very high gusts! Blew my 35 ft travel trailer off its blocks and 4 ft sideways, roofing off our house.. series of very scarey winds and lightning bolts. Worst storm I’ve been in EVER! I lived outside Prineville, on SE Maphet Rd. When the weather report said there would be high winds on the coast, there were high winds at my place. Even if winds were calm in the Willamette Valley and Bend. I learned to pay attention to that and I spent many nights in the barn with the horses calming them down, and vice versa. It was scary.

Was very windy in eugene foothills, had a neighbors tree fall and intense thunder, we didn’t lose power but thousands in Portland are out. Eugene had a very bad ice storm last year and we lost so many trees that would have taken out lines in these storms, our baby creek is raging!!

Spokane has now surpassed the December monthly normal precip. Less than two weeks ago,it was the 11th driest start of the month in 140+ years of record.GEG is about to exceed the calendar year normal precip,after running a deficit for almost all the year.
