You can find the accompanying files for these tutorials here - robotarmy.gumroad.com/l/Oilca...
I made this set of tutorials to show my students how to bake high poly details to a low poly mesh as well as a few texturing techniques. - Though some changes have been made to the software since making these, the workflow has stayed pretty much the same.

Hi all, these tutorials have come to the end of their life span for my students, they are little bit older but the content workflow is exactly the same. - You can down load the tutorial assets from the gumroad link above! Enjoy. ❤

I saw on your previous video that these were made for your students, so I am assuming that what you are saying here was meant for them. When you mentioned that people could message you if they have a bake issue as there are too many issues to cover in a video and that you would be glad to help, I just wish that was the feeling and words I got from my lecturers. Often (if not all times) I feel pretty alone although I am doing a course, and I truly want to learn. I learned a lot more/majorly from working together with my fellow students. So I am currently trying to learn a more realistic style on my own for my graduation (both for modeling and texturing) and taking notes from these videos you made, so really, thank you for sharing these!

Hi, thanks for your kind words, i work with students from a wide range of colleges and universities and have very differing experiences, sometimes its courses that have had the original lectureres move on, or that the course is too big with too many students to offer good individual support. What you say is something I see a lot and I'm sorry your experience isn't what you hoped for. On the bright side, everything you need to know to become a good 3D artists is available online, and the course you are already on will offer you the opportunity to have the time to learn and develop as well as a structured schedule with a clear project and goal, this is the vital part as the best students are the ones that excel past what we teach and require more specific feedback and guidance. If you get stuck with something, drop me a line and ill try my best to get back to you. 👍

@@RobotArmy3D You are absolutely right, there are also positive sides to my course, such as those you mentioned, working with others in a project, going through the different stages of game development, etc! I do appreciate your video and how you explain the why to things. I love to learn and understand what I am doing and why I am doing it. So again, thank you and I will subscribe for more of this content! :D

After completing texturing to low poly. We can apply same textures to highpoly mesh ?

If the uv's mach up. But you may get some distortion. If you need a very high poly final model. I would suggest texturing a higher resolution model instead of a low poly. Or look into displacement maps. That is what is is used in vfx. This subdivides your model when rendering and adds the detail based on the displacement map information.

does the bake thing needs to be made before any painting or can i bring my high poly model and bake after?

Well, the high poly model usually wont have any UV's its the UV's of the low poly that you want. Baking is essentially "painting" the high poly details on to a low poly model. If you have an unwrapped high poly, then yes you can paint on it, but then transferring those painted details back down on to a low poly would be difficult and also probably will not give you perfect results.

substance painter baker is just too weak. it does shit job at baking complicated assets and messes up with pople head. It is just an illusion thet this is simple. but it's simplysity confuses newbies and makes them to waste time for nothing. Solution for good bakes is Marmoset toolbag. It is very informative gives good understanding of what is hapenning with the mesh. Just give it a go, spend some time to learn the good tool and use it. Instead of working head arond with the tool that just by it self does a bad job at baking. My advice is to use Marmoset to bake Normal and AO map. Rest of the maps bake in substance.

Yes, I tell my students to check out marmoset toolbag, I haven't used that part of it myself but from what I have read its one of the best tools around to bake maps. I still use substance simply for convenience and also that I rarely get errors these days, but yes I need to start using toolbag 🙂
