PART 15 - Long Block Ancillaries - How to Build a CB Performance 2017cc Builder’s Choice VW Engine

Here I'm bolting on a few of the ancillary long block components - fuel block off, type 3 block off, oil return fitting, generator stand, breather box, oil pressure sender, oil temp sender and the stock style oil cooler. Most of these pieces I have never fitted before as they are non-stock spec.

Haha, Fancy Pants fittings! Yes they are. I'm with you, nothing looks worse on a vintage engine than phillips head screws. It needs studs and some nice acorn nuts. The breather looks good against all that black. Even if it doesn't run it'll look good on the side of the road, hehe. She's coming along nicely.

Wowza 2332cc. That's a monster. I've never driven a VW with that kind of power. Great that you're getting back in a bug after all this time. I am planning on documenting the complete installation into the bus - new freeway flyer gearbox too.

A hoy! Hope you're well! I've been waiting with baited breath for your next post. Where did you find your banjo bolt? It looks great on your engine and I'm struggling to find anything similar that I am confident will fit the 3/8npt spec.

1:00:19 Your cylinder tins are missing the air vanes between the spark plug holes. I posted a link to the only place I've found them, but youtube deleted the comment. Try and find an OEM set and duplicate the vanes if you can't find a good set. Do you have thermostat flaps?

@@aircooledanything2415 No, I saw you put those in earlier. They clip into the holes in the heads. After some more searching, Paruzzi in Netherlands has them, part number 02237

Never added the oil cooler sealing tin (hoover bit)?

did you consider doing the hoover mods to the oil gallery, lifters, and rockers?

I did consider the Hoover mods for a short while. As I'm a novice builder I decided that I didn't want to risk junking the case for a modification that would not bring that much extra benefit to an engine with only moderate power. I'll hopefully get a chance to try it out one day.
