Thanks for uploading for us to enjoy! This was taped after Jack Paar had turned over the hosting duties of "The Tonight Show" to Johnny Carson. That's why he pointed out that being one night a week on TV was more relaxing than being on five nights a week.

I had to shake my head at Jack saying the word-not once but twice! And some of his antics, especially at the end, had me laughing. Peggy is a pretty good player. And those kids were cute! Great episode!

Jack Parr is incredibly charismatic and fun to watch, but it's clear that he's completely out of his depth against Peggy here... Even the kids were playing the game better than him, haha! I'm glad that he finally managed to pick up the slack during that last round, though. (Edit: he *significantly* improved by the time he played against Betty White the next year, so hooray!)

This episode was rife with screwups, not only with Jack giving away TWO puzzles, but also, the judge allowing the clue implement to solve instrument. Since they both contain a form of the word. Boy I'll tell ya, sometimes I'm kinda dense but Jack was really out to lunch

voicetube, It’s rather interesting that the cognates of ventilator in many foreign languages (ex. Italian, French, Russian, etc.) simply mean “fan”, generally referring to the electrical variety, not the handheld one which usually has a different name.

A relative of mine was star of a big variety show on TV. I was backstage when Paar was a guest star. He was so nervous before going on I thought he'd collapse. He was unprepared, not the least bit funny, and was never invited back to that show. His late-night TV show wasn't funny at all. Nothing near Johnny Carson, because Paar didn't relate to other people. It was obvious that he stole most of him mannerisms from Jack Benny, his mentor. This show is a microcosm of what he was like-a jerk.

I don't think it's as good this way. I wonder if they'll go back. The trouble is, if you get a star contestant who isn't very good (like Jack) you're stuck. You don't get a chance to try with someone else. Plus, I liked getting to know the contestants!
