I like how on the first chorus he sang John's part and on the second chorus he sang his harmony.

he made this song for John, so many references from the friendship they have, the funeral of John's mother, the way they meet. just watch The Nowhere Boy, the history of John, how they know each other, his family, its a good film.

Oh I hate when people consider only technical aspect of the voice. He may not be so good here from this point of view, but emotions are great and so real, this is how this song sounds best. period!

Jay Awesome Music Yes. His writing will just accommodate his voice in the coming years. He'll lose a lot more top register but will gain stronger lower register and the wisdom of age will be reflected in his voice. He may turn into Frank Sinatra but that's cool - it's still Macca. Sinatra never wrote a song in his life but Paul's got many more still in him.

Beatsman I personally like his voice here, it accommodates the song very well. That’s the thing bout him and the other Beatles, the voices weren’t the best; they were average but everything else around them was so extraordinary and the simplicity in the voice made it so much better.
@robinenlennard6 жыл бұрын
@@nrffilms1740 well, Paul's voice in the beatles was far from average... Check out Oh! Darling, for example

Lennard Lennard Oh yea, towards the end of the Beatles; all of their voices have improved significantly, especially McCartney. His best singing came in like at 68 and went through all the way too late 70’s early 80’s where it was in it’s prime. If you hear early Beatle tracks you can flaws and to be honest I love it. At concerts, before he does please me he tells the story bout how that was the first song he was signed on to sing and he was super nervous and that you can hear it shake. I absolutely love it. It added character and as time went on you saw them improve even more from a couple of kids to a couple of men.

Paul used to say that apart from all the fame, the fighting, the craziness that seemed to follow them later, what he remembers most fondly after all those years were him and John ditching schools, walking home down the street in liverpool, two guitars across their backs, hiding away to write songs and spend time together

This song and the video, too, is all about how it all got started with The Beatles. Teenagers in love with music, getting it together, becoming friends for life. I see it as a great hommage to the days that are never to happen again, those innocent days of early youth. Not only for The Beatles but for everyone of us.

The most free and joyful music America celebrates came from forgotten Black musicians. And that includes the British Invasion, who were ALL inspired by 78's & 45's brought to England on tramp steamers from America. They waited on the docks to hear that incredible sound. And they handed it back to us. I don't want invented instant super stars. Music is Joy is Life. Blessed be the forgotten.

Amen. I remember the 50's. We were SERVED. My landlord tells me he was in the military then, in Okinawa, and they got to listen to WLAC (John R, Horeseman) every night through a long chain of shortwave radio and then ship-to-shore radio. We all had a right to rhythm & blues music and elders stepped in to make sure that we got what we needed. If your child asks for bread, would you give him a stone? If your child asks for rock & roll, would you give him a Pat Boone record? They waited on the docks and we waited outside the record stores on release dates or ordered those 3-band albums (Chuck Berry, Clyde McPhatter, Mickey & Sylvia) from Nashville. Our parents were glad we had good taste. Thanks, Mom.

"May sweet memories of friends from the past always come to you, when you look for them/ And your inspiration, long may it last. May it come to you, time and time again.” That might be the most beautiful sentiment I’ve ever heard in my life. I want to cry when I hear that. And I do. This is proof of why, in his SEVENTH decade of songwriting, Macca is THE MASTER.

@kimmouse271910 жыл бұрын
I can't stop watching this video, it's so beautiful and I keep picking up on something new every time. As far as the details go, this is what I came up with: The Paul character is the boy with the hat walking towards the gang of boys with his guitar case. The John character is the boy sitting on top of the lorry with his guitar. They are introduced by the boy with glasses (maybe a composite of Ivan Vaughn/Pete Shotton?). They shake hands and start playing guitar at each other, one right handed, one left handed. There is no George character here. The boy with glasses and the drummer are the rest of the "band" but I think they are not as important as Boy 1 (John) and Boy 2 (Paul). You notice these two walking around town with guitars, eating ice cream, running through fields, sharing records... John and Paul, you can't miss them! :) I think the funeral scene is a memory of when Julia died. It was the time when Paul and John bonded even more because now they both had no mothers.

Paul has so much respect for the whole Beatle thing. John, Ringo, and especially George didn't. It's like when they looked back on it, they hated it or something, which is sad. Collect my thoughts thru tears. 1. This is a piece of art, not just a rock video from the 80s. Yes, we love it. 2. I needed 2hear this from Paul. I'm happy he shared his innermost feelings. This puts the nail on the coffin of the 'Beatle breakup saga' in our hearts/minds. The love is there & time heals. 3. I have waited til now, at 53, 2say what many have said b4 me... Music, & particularly from my faves such as Paul, has been a tool in the hand of God 2make my life tolerable I was a sick kid, too sick 2watch telly, but could keep my eyes closed & listen. My condition improved. I make music 4a living & I can sing too, which the doctor's told me I never would do! Who was my inpiration? Many, & Paul was 1 of the top ones. Saw ya in '76 Chicago Stadium, age 15. Let's not forget the role Linda, Nancy & Paul's kids have played in who he is 2day. I do believe in the promise at Psalm 37:29. 'Forever' is the promise I make to Paul. You/your work is part of who I am. Blessings to all who created this astonishing video/piece of art! x

John and Paul with "two guitars across their backs" ... "seeking someone who would listen to the music" that they were writing down at home: how magnificent is it that even 60 years later there are millions who would do anything to listen to them? Any person who is 72 is going to sound older, but last Monday night--his voice, energy, and musicianship was excellent. I love this song as I do the New album-he performed several songs from it. I have read many books now about how John and Paul, got together and so yes, they were greatly influenced by American music-and introduced us to some we didn't know. The Beatles and Paul will be going strong for many more years. I have loved him for 50 years and hope to see him perform many more times until he's no longer touring.
