The state of ripening of the mange is very important. If it is over-ripe, these techniques may not work well. Also, put the mango in a refrigerator for 3-4 hours before peeling. That will gel the juice and make peeling easier. You will also feel a better taste when eaten cold.

Only people who eat lots of mangoes in season can appreciate this one. In fact I had forgotten the peeling by hand method that we did as children. I was not only reminded of it but learnt a way whereby the peel will come off easily. Of course we did peel with a knife or a scraper, but it was always a challenge to keep our hands free of the juice. Now I learnt to use a fork to hold it. Thank you for making peeling a mango from a messy business to an art.

Thanks for the video. The method I choose to use is similar to your last one. That is to cut the mango into nearly two halves and then use a large spoon to scoop around the skin. You are left with two skinless halves of mango to which you can dice it up as you choose. This is least amount of work and loses the least amount of flesh. Trying to skin the mango is the worst way, IMO, because it is so messy and you cannot eat around the seed very easily. And you lose more flesh around the skin.
Anyone knows that mango skin is edible and its' fragrance is lovely too. I eat mango together with the skin, the skin can be used to make syrup n contains high antioxidants.

On the first attempt, the mango was peeled across which is the wrong way, if you peeled it longwise it is the correct way no matter what you use, a lid, a knife, etc.

Thai people use knife to cut the same as last method but on two sides of mango then use spoon to eat mango.
