Marie Fredriksson was a star in Sweden before she and Per Gessle formed Roxette in the 80's and broke big internationally w/ the album 'Look sharp!' around 1989... When Roxette was touring on the album 'Joyride' in 1991, she met her husband whom she married privately in 1994 and had 2 children... In 2002, Marie collapsed and was hospitalized... She was diagnosed w/ a brain tumor and needed cancer treatments which put her career on hold for years. After recording some solo records, Marie and Per reunited as Roxette and started recording and touring again in 2009... their final album 'Good karma' was released in 2016 and Marie was advised by doctors to cease touring and performing as her health deteriorated from the cancer returning... Marie Fredriksson passed away in 2019 at age 61 (R.I.P)

It must have been love 💞
@BadMoonandStars3 ай бұрын
Hi, I hope your daughter can remember a little of it! It wasn't a stroke. She collapsed in the bathroom in 2002 and hit her head. At the hospital they discovered a brain tumour. It was a mixture of that and the subsequent treatments that caused her such huge health issues and it's what eventually took her in 2019. 😢😢😢

There is an interesting passing of the torch between great female leads from Swedish bands. Abba kills it through the 70's into the early 80's and then passed the torch on to Roxette who killed the late 80's then passed it to Ace of Base to handle the early 90's. Love all three of them

Black Pegasus, I love your reactions. To answer a few of your questions; this is an 80's song. The Swedish Band Roxette was formed by Per Gessle (guitar and vocals) and Marie Fredriksson (vocals). Per Gessle had previously seen success in Sweden with the band Gyllene Tider (Golden (as in the best of) Tider (times) and Marie Fredriksson had success as a singer/songwriter. Growing up in the 80's in Sweden I didn't necessarily love their music but I did love Marie's looks... Unfortunately Marie Fredriksson passed away in 2019. There are plans to revive Roxette with another lead vocalist, Lena Philipsson.

Marie's solo material is amazing but it was actually Per Gessle who was the main songwriter for Roxette (the guitarist who was at the front of the stage with Marie at the end). Marie fell ill with a brain tumour in 2002 which caused her many health issues. She died in 2019.😢 This song went to No 1 on the US Billboard. So did The Look, It Must Have Been Love and Joyride.
