Saw Prince live Bd he was exceptionally good. He ran around the stage on those heels and jumped up on the piano from a standing position. He was renowned for playing multiple instruments, producing, arranging and performing on his music and was a true musical genius. Have a listen to some of his albums - you will be astounded.💜 please.s. the stage costumes were a nod to the French Revolution and his royal name.

Dude played 27 instruments, played all the instruments on his first 5 albums--in addition to the crazy vocals and his dancing--he was a truly unique talent. Today's performers are not qualified to shine his boots...do youself a favor and check out the live performance from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction of George Harrison. He is on the stage with legends of rock and in the end shows him who the true boss is...
@oskarobit7 ай бұрын
Please, stop saying that about the 27 instruments... He played 27 different instruments on his first album, 27 pieces: different electric and acoustic guitars, basses, drums, piano, several keyboards, drum machines, congas, tambourine, bongos... No tenor saxophone, violin, harp, trumpets, clarinet, oboe, harpsichord... You know what I mean? His innate talent is out of the question. He mastered guitar, bass, piano and drums, but not only that: he breathed music, so he could do a solo just by thinking the notes in his head or compose a song while eating a vegan sandwich and after brushing his teeth he could record every instrument, all the vocals, mix it and produce it. There are good and very good guitarists better than Prince (no doubt!), but only a few can say the same with a second instrument, composing, writing lyrics, or as showmen. He moved effortlessly through such a variety of styles. No one living or dead can match his enormous and diverse talent. Moreover, he was always ahead of his time musically and in other related aspects: things like giving away a record with a newspaper, predicting the chaos of music on the internet or fighting for the masters and intellectual property of his works. PS: He was responsible for the sticker with the famous words "Parental Advisory, explicit lyrics". I have been a Prince fan for at least 4 decades and have attended 3 concerts, own about 120 CDs (many live bootlegs), 30 vinyl albums, 2 dozen VHS and almost as many DVDs and Blu-rays. I've also watched 90% of every piece on KZbin, from music to interviews, artists talking about him and his former band members telling their stories with him. I think I know a little bit about Prince.
@IvoMaropo6 ай бұрын
@@oskarobitHe did not master the piano. This is an INSANE statement. The same goes for the drums. He was FAR from mastering it. On the guitar, though, he was something else.
@oskarobit6 ай бұрын
@@IvoMaropo maybe "master" means different things in my language and I did a bad translation. I meant he was very good, very very good at both . And you can find drummers a keyboardist saying what I said. For some reason he was respected by pianists like Elton John and Herbie Hancock. We can't not ask now to Miles Davis why he said Prince could play as good as his band members. I've watched him dwelling Michael B, drummer Versus drummer and it was amazing. Are you a musician with bigger background than the mentioned? Let me doubt it. BTW, please don't think I'm a consumer of mainstream shit, half the music I listen to, every day, is jazz.

@@oskarobit I’m not getting what you mean-I said he played 27 instruments, you said he played 27 different instruments-and I never said anything about sax or violin, just repeating what I read about his first 5 albums. I have zero doubt you know more about him than I-I was simply a fan who never got to see him play live, one of my greatest regrets. To see him play would have been incredible-he is on my list along with Stevie Ray Vaughan of people I wished I’d seen live.
@oskarobit6 ай бұрын
@@tombanaski3251 i wrote "instruments". You know some words have multiple meanings right? Let me put in other words. One piano and one violin are two instruments. A Gibson Epiphone and a Mad Cat (two guitars) are two instruments. Ok now? This is what Prince used and play in "For You", the usual rock instruments like guitars, keyboards, drums, basses... Different models of each kind to make a total of 27: EQUIPMENT · Vocals - Neumann U67 · Guitars - Alvarez 5055 Jumbo (assumed) / Fender Stratocaster (assumed) · Effects - Mutron Bi-Phase · Basses - Orr Bass · Synthesizers - Arp Pro Soloist / Arp String Ensemble / Moog Minimoog / Moog Polymoog 203a (credited as "Ms Poly Moog") / Oberheim 4 Voice · Pianos and Keyboards - Fender Rhodes / Hohner Clavinet / Unknown acoustic piano Drums - Pollard Syndrums / Slapstick, wind chimes, water drums, bongos, bell tree, wood block / Unknown acoustic drum kit

I saw Prince in Las Cruces New Mexico 7 March 1985. My buddy had a new girlfriend who couldn't go to the concert unless her sister could go too. The sister refused to go unless she had a "date". I got roped into going to show I didn't really want to see because in 85, 19 year old me was all about hair metal and head banging. But I went, just to be a good wingman for my friend. Prince completely changed my relationship with music. He was incredible. His absolute skill as a guitarist, his stage presence and the way he connected with the audience--all of it, was transcendent. Rest in peace, Prince, and thank you for expanding my young soul.

I walked over there everyday stayed for hours talking with folks from all over the world. Ssooooo much incredible fan art and tribute pieces. The estate kept it all, well most of it, and its on display in Paisley Park. I had the privilege of seeing him perform multiple times as well as seeing him in person casually, a few times. you forgot Dhani, Harrison George's son, and clone, who was the one who asked him to play to honor his Dad. If you watch he gives Prince a sly smile right before Prince steals the show.

A true legend ❤❤❤ RIP ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹one of a kind! A true artist!!! When I had my beautiful best friend my dog Reba RIP we used to walk in the woods I would sit on a rock and play this song and enjoy it in the peace and quiet of the outdoors.

We saw Purple Rain at the theater in 84. Cried. Such a great flick. Iam such a big fan. Since I have family in Minneapolis, I've been to First Ave, the huge club where Purple Rain was filmed. Love Prince so much. He was a genius in many ways. Gone too soon.

Only got to see him once live and despite the high cost and over an hour late- was beyond incredible, one of my fave concerts

This is THE best live version of Purple Rain. Period. Saw him on December 30, 1984 in Dallas, TX (Purple Rain Tour) and still remember how phenomenal he was....

This version is from the live concert released on VHS and last year on Blu-ray Disc. The audience is singing whooo ooooi have seen Prince live 15 times Prince played 20 instruments. He would rehearse his tours for 8 hours a day

That reaction made me so happy! I just love watching someone experience Prince for the first time. “What are you watching?” The legendary, iconic, genius, Prince. Yes, all those words and so many more are appropriate for just one man. So glad you are hopping on the bus. Enjoy the ride! Please continue checking out his performances. They are epic. If you want to see him show his mastery of piano, check out the Piano Medley from the Lovesexy Tour. If you want to see him rock the drums, go with the live performances of “America” or “It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night.” If you want to check him out on bass, take a look at him performing covers of “Play that Funky Music/Hollywood Swinging/Fantastic Voyage” at the LA Forum or “Pass the Peas” with Maceo Parker. If you want to see him dance, go with “Baby I’m a Star/Push” from the Special Olympics opening ceremony. The point is that he mastered many everything. One of my favorite performances to watch at the moment is “Thieves in the Temple/It” - he’s on an acoustic guitar for this one at the club he had in Minneapolis called Glam Slam kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZO5g4iPZZx8bs0si=IjJKrVpz3zkreu84 💜💜💜

Prince is The Musical GOAT! He played every instrument and did it well! If you ever get to Minneapolis, make sure you take the tour of his house, which was also his recording studio. Lots of different musicians also recorded there. It will blow your mind.

You should watch the "Purple Rain" movie. Prince was known for his long intros to his songs. I'm 54 years old and all 3 of my adult children (in their 20's) know every son on the Purple Rain album.
