You don’t let anything on because the fear of it blowing up in your face is terrifying. If they ask you for something you know you’ve got one, maybe two, attempts to deflect it before you’re more or less forced into submission. It doesn’t matter who you are, fear is fear and being approached by someone that you are aware is stalking you is truly awful. There are no words effective enough to describe it. She definitely did what she thought she could to safely get out of that situation, even if it came at a cost.
