I got a call from a roadside assistance insurance company to tow Pontiac Firebird for one their customers. The owner of the car said he heard a clunking in the front end and something felt loose, so he parked it in a city public parking lot and got a ride home. The parking lot happened to be in front of a bar so when I pulled up with a tow truck, people scrambled to get to their cars and take off because they thought I was the city impound truck or repo truck.

Hi Casey, your 'short movies' are too good. I like the way you present them and you are so down to earth like the one fixing your wife car's reverse cam that you said you are terrified of shouldering but got the job done perfectly. Recently found your channel & really enjoy it & it's awesome how you help people, not charging them. That really shows the kind of person you are. 👏 If you're ever needing ideas for a video, I'd love to see a video explaining what lockers are, open / closed differentials / limited slip / etc. I think I have an idea, but I'm not sure, but would love to have someone like yourself (knowledgeable & one who articulates thoughts well) explain this to someone like myself, who doesn't really understand how these things work. AWD vs 4WD vs Auto 4WD, etc Also, perhaps explaining what's ideal for winter driving, sand, snow, everyday commuting to work during winter months, etc. Anyways, great channel & thank you for helping others!

Ever since the repo company got the red extended cab Ford I get mistaken for the repo guy all the time. I get called by th city cops every once in awhile asking if I towed a car because someone reported their car as stolen and security footage shows my truck driving off with it. I'm like, "it wasn't me, but you should probably ask them when the last time they made a payment was..."

just because they own a junk car doesn't mean they don't have tow coverage. i get tow coverage through my credit card which helped out when the transmission on my junker failed. i also know many people who have CAA who almost never need it but the couple time you use it pays for itself especially since most tow trucks charge about $100 hook up fee plus $3-4 per km. my insurance company also offers tow coverage and other crap for extra but i think the plans offered through CAA is still usually cheaper.

I used to have a car that you had to turn the key to the on position, flip a toggle switch up and then pop the hood so you could get out and touch a screwdriver to the solenoid and then the car would start. I also had a car that the passenger side CV joint would pop out if you turned too sharp but you could pop the hood and reach down and pop the CV joint back into place.

Safety chains should never matter if equipment is properly used, maintained. I use them every time. But am amazed when I pull someone else’s trailer they get kinda upset I unwrap, use safety chains. “You don’t need those” I look trailer over (not too carefully as I would have to refuse). I had one I refused. Guy got upset. I told him it was not safe. He got it 7 miles before it collapsed. Sheared off 8 lug nuts, tipped. Bent stuff…. He understood why I refused to touch it unless I unloaded @7000 lbs. thankfully they were pulling it with a farm tractor, under 14 mph. Nobody hurt.

Wow, the kinds of cars that some people dare to drive onto the public road! The owner is lucky that the last lug nut didn't also snap while he was driving! It's clearly not going to get stolen easily if you really need to know about that starting button! ;-P After spending my college years driving for a courier service, well before navigation systems were a thing, I learned to "wing it" as well when needing to find my way out of new (to me) neighbourhoods/cities and countries to drive back home. Eventually you do get pretty good at going in a certain direction towards a certain destination by instinct/experience! No need for Google maps or anything! :-)

With scary front studs broke. Why not dolly rear? Lift front as its heavier, but less stress? Or am I thinking wrong?
@CaseyLaDelle
@CaseyLaDelle 2 жыл бұрын
You are definitely thinking wrong. The front wheel is barely attached, so if I lift it from the front and dolly the rear, all the force of my truck pulling that car down the road, and slowing it down when I hit the brakes, is being taken by the front wheels. By grabbing it from the back and dollying the front, the only force on the compromised front wheel is the weight of the car. The back ones are the ones taking all the pulling and pushing force between the two vehicles.
