I have 2 friends separately, they've met each other before but i usually hang out with one at a time. I basically never had a proper friend group. But one time one of my friend was telling me about all the drama going on in her friend group and now i'm glad i missed out on all that.

No there's a huge trend now in fact of having a "boring" life and a life without friends. I have zero friends cause I was too sick to have energy to care about drama and to be tagging along, let alone to be a leader of a friend group. I could have been popular but I just couldn't stand the idea of anyone deciding my schedule. I tried having a few superficial friends in university and i had built such a wall around me that all the snakes came to me cause I was alone and easy victim for a narcissist. People without friends have no one to fall back on or to compare to and they know! Made me like people even less. Learned after therapy friends are important but don't tell them anything private. My boyfriend has like ten friends but he can barely catch up with them. My parents lost all their friends once they got into their 30s. What is the point. They always drag you to a loud bar or a dinner that you have to split or get reflux from. Only during covid did they have time for walks. I guess if you set your expectations really low and be very careful with your energy, you can try having friends. As guys it's a little easier than as women once you have children.

I’m definitely an introvert, and even have a bit of social anxiety history, but it seems I’m the only one here who still wishes I had a couple real-life in-person friends. I have online friends and that is great, but every once in a while you need somebody around to help when, say, you get a flat tire, or the rare instance there’s an actual activity you want to do but are too chicken to go to alone. I’ve had friends but they all moved or started families so lost touch. Sure, most the time I am perfectly happy to be a hermit homebody and communicate solely through text or Discord, but even introverts get lonely after a while.

Oh yeah. I'd say I really only have two friends, and one of them is already married and has kids and the other movies cities a lot for work. Haven't spoken to them in forever so really, no "active" friends, I guess. There've been so many events I've wanted to go to but didn't bc I didn't wanna go alone. Going for walks alone, I definitely don't mind, but sometimes I really just wanna go out to a bar or restaurant or something and hang out but I have no one to do it with. I'm at that point on the introvert spectrum where I do like my alone time but I also wanna have friends and hang out. I miss having friends.

As an ESTJ though it's not super important to me to have friends (to other ESTJs it is important) but I don't mind crowds or being around people for a long time.

This line reminded me of one Sandman episode where Dream had one friend that meets him once in 100 years in the same pub and just talk for that one day. That episode was my favorite and I called it an introvert dream. Still I relate to this video so hard. I hate unnecessary drama and that you had to put work to actually keep the friendship. I had given up at this point. I have lost multiple friendships over the years because I never found the right person that would understand me. But at this point I learn to enjoy my alone time and it made me understand myself a little bit better. I use my alone time to work on myself and be a better person but it's goes very slowly. I still hope I can at least find one friend in future when I finish healing from my social anxiety. But I am not sure when that would happen.

Oh yes, I remember that episode. I think what they had was special, even though they didn't meet often. Personally, I have trust issues because I had trouble making friends growing up. Anytime someone wanted to get close or gave me a gift I would question it. I also have trouble masking my emotions so these people usually know I have my guard up.

My best friend is like this. I thought I was like this until I became friends with her. She’s so much more introverted than me it’s insane. We text all the time, but actually meeting up with her in person takes literal months to do. Actually she sounds a lot like me too. I'm quite comfortable as long as I'm texting. Which I do quite often. But I recently had a phone call with my "best friend" and I just couldn't recharge for two days. We only see each other four times a year. However I'm still extremely grateful that she is there. It’s so great to have a friend that understands! I only have a couple true/close friends…. @@Jdb63 I have been alone for like...6 years at this point (I still have my parents and brother though I dont have strong relationships with them). I have things I am interested in and things I want to achive in life. So I would say I do feel fullfilled and happy. Aside from wanting to talk about my interests from time to time which I can do online with just about anyone, I am pretty content being alone. Having friends may bring me additional joy in life or it may not(it might not work out/they may be bad people etc) but I cant say I am feeling empty or not whole. To be honest with you, my life started improving after I got rid of the thought process that I *should* be unhappy because I cant socialize with people. Thinking like that made me hate myself a lot and put me in misery. Once I relized what I needed wasnt friends but just to do what I enjoy doing even if I was alone, I felt much better. Being alone may not work for everyone (everyone's different after all) and it may stop working for me at some point but I wouldnt say I wasted my time being alone.

Moreover, if I want, I can freely talk to people who share same interest with me or the people who inspire me or just anyone who is really interested in having a conversation. At the same time, it's not difficult for me to go back to me shell anytime I want. Thus, social interaction is not a problem for me. Yup, I have a difficult time with small talks but I've my own way to deal with that (Making boundaries).

Given that more people are introverted than extroverted these days most extroverts will have more introverted friends than extroverted friends. Statistically speaking, Need to talk to a class? INFJ- I'm desperate for friends, I reach out and make friends so easily..... and then they exhaust me cause as an INFJ, I suddenly become their counselor/therapist and I end up having to mask full time to take care of them!!! I can't find just one person who will let me 100% take off the mask and be me and not be needy! I love caring for people, it's a love language (I speak all of the love languages and NEED all spoken back to me- good luck finding someone who can do that!) for me, but it NEVER FAILS that the people who come to me for care, are either full blown Narcissists or people who have no concept of how to give back. There are trustworthy people that wanna talk to ya for the sake of talking or getting to know ya but it's good to be cautious when you don't know them too well. You haven't seen them in enough situations to know if they're trustworthy or not. Always good to pay attention for any green and red flags. I personally like to pay attention to how people choose to talk to me and how they're in the convos to see if I can trust them or not. I try not to get involved with people if my instincts are telling me there's something off about them and if I observed any potential red flags especially if it's multiple.

Even older I tend to keep my guard up. If you want to know how to move past it... you are going to have to forgive. Hard yes... but possible. I am happy that you have someone that you can trust. This is good... It is depressing to see how quickly you can find yourself all alone. You will not be betrayed, but the solitude... even for an introvert will eventually hurt too. Sometimes going to see a movie alone actually works out quite well. I was completely alone in the theatre when I saw Paranormal Activity. I had a free ticket through work, so I was going in completely blind. That was honestly my best/most memorable movie theatre experience.

i eat donuts with a fork and knife like i do most things n im not rich or anything i just think its a WAY easier way to eat 😌 a lot of ‘finger foods’ are strangely way way way WAY more convenient if you just use a fork… it also makes way less of a mess, you waste less food, you don’t have to waste water cleaning up your messy hands and face, you don’t have to risk your clothes getting all dirty and disgusting, etc.

It depends on the donut. But bagels are very versatile. Strawberry cream cheese and it's breakfast. Avocado and it's brunch. Veggies, cheese, and any protein and it's lunch. Plus there's the onion bagels that is like a sandwich ingredient that's already seasoned. Ok I'm going nowhere with this and I'm just hungry.

Idk whether it’s only my thing, but I ‘m so hurt by the disappointment in those ‘friends’ that I don’t even know whether it’s worth making them from now on... I like social interaction, I’d say I’m between extrovert and introvert (more like extroverted introvert lol), but even when I want to make close friends I feel like I’d better not, since most of the time I’ll get used or betrayed. Here is the thing, for me works like this: When I have friends I am like "oh this takes a lot of effort, it is hard not to hurt people's feelings, if i do not want to do something, why should i agree with the rest and do it?, why can't we talk about religion and politics?" So because of my horrible personality I end up losing my friends, and I do not care, until I am bored, and that's when I go "oh I wish I had someone to hung out or talk about silly stuff" and that's when I have to make new friends again

Having one or two friends is the best out of both worlds. My mom doesn't bug me about "Why don't you have any friends?" and I don't have the feeling like I'm stuck in a claustrophobic social cave surrounded by annoying, drama filled yammering mouths. I never had a close friend until junior year. Well I kinda did in 6th grade (we were neighbours) but we weren't as close as I wanted us to be. She just wasn't mature enough. Eventually I moved out and we lost contact. I recently met her again and oh my gosh she's grown up a lot. I use to be like this until I realised how miserable I really was (personal relevance, I know different people are different, and some are truly happy like this and there's nothing wrong with that). I still keep my circle of friends small and they are normally centered around the same interests eg board games. I need that common interest to be the linchpin in the relationship.
