Love this project! Will surely put a smile on a child's face. I'm thinking a little boy doll along with the girl doll would make a cute gift!

Your Doll designs are incredibly smart, fancy and so much fun to see them all come to life!!!! Thank you for sharing your skills & knowledge with us, we are very grateful for your kindness!!! .... I do have a quick suggestion for you to consider. Paper can be pretty expensive over time, so what if you used "paper napkins" instead? They would tear just as easy, or just wet them & lightly rub if a spot gets stuck as you tear. They would save you $ in the long run, so that your profit increases over time ... Thank you again for sharing your beautiful Doll with us, we love each one of them!!!

So pretty! I love the rainbow hair and the sparkly hair! I need to get a new printer, but that's all that's stopping me from sewing new patterns at the moment. I plan on getting a few of the rag doll patterns from you. I love them! They're so cute! I also really enjoy your very easy going teaching style. I've made a few of the wonky houses and it's so therapeutic and relaxing. I think you're my favorite sewing channel...so thank you!

"Put on an episode of Matlock..." I did not see that coming 😂🤣 (Side story: My dad and I used to watch that together from time to time and we always enjoyed singing along with the theme, often with me on the melody and him on the bassy part, lol) Your dolls and the hair are so beautiful! Thanks so much for this tutorial and the others -- I haven't made any dolls yet but am excited to very soon ☺️

You can also sew the hair on a measured cloth circle that matches the head, with a turned edge, then hand sew the “wig” onto the doll.

Stumbled on this video while researching how to do a long tail tuft on a plushie. Very nice glimpse into how hair is done in general! Definitely cute mermaids 🥰

I made a crochet rag doll about 10 years ago. I used cotton yarn for everything including the hair. You were correct the hair was very heavy but it looked terrific when finished, however I could not donate as the head could not support the hair. So I changed the style. I’m really glad I found your channel this will help me complete that doll with wool of which I have an abundance. I don’t know why I did not think of that myself I guess I have tunnel vision.

I’ve always wrapped the yarn around cardboard (as you showed in the video) and then I hand sew the yarn together, using the same yarn, then slide it off the cardboard and leave the bottom of the “hair” in loops. But I’ll give your way a try-looks faster!
@PinCutSew Жыл бұрын
You definitely could still leave the loops, that sounds cute!

I’m grateful to have come across this video, as it answered many questions I already had on making doll hair with yarn…& I so appreciate this. Can you combine yarn with some thin strips of felt in the same colors???

That would be cute! I think I’d use wool felt since the poly kind pills, stretches and can break over time.

Thank you for these videos! Just saved my daughter's 6th birthday gift (a knit unicorn doll). I am not great at sewing by any means, and discovered that the sewing machine portion should be straight stitch and not zigzag (my mother's suggestion) or the paper gets caught in the stitches and you get to spend hours picking it out. lol. I would humbly recommend you try mohair yarn for the hair if you haven't yet. They actually have hair as opposed to wool/acrylic so it works up amazingly well. Plus you can get curly mohair which would give your hair a fun texture! Thanks again!

My great grandma bought a doll pattern way back when. It's called a Laura Wheeler doll. Starting with my sister its become a family tradition for all the girls in the family to get one. So im making one for my 4 year old to get for Christmas. We do the hair very similar. We do a weft along the center, half a weft on each side, and then we hand stitch the bangs
@PinCutSew Жыл бұрын
I just looked up these Laura Wheeler dolls and they are beautiful! It looks like you can get reproductions on Etsy of the patterns and I'm quite tempted!

Nice tutorial! You could try to wrap the yarn around a child’s hard backed story book. Would’nt bend like the cardboard 😊 Just a thought.
