Yeah, I was thinking the shop keep was his daughter too. She looks like she's in her late 60's maybe early 70's whereas when we were introduced to Geri, he was already geriatric. Ohmahgoodness, that's brilliant. Anyways, it has already been at least 10 years in universe since Geri was introduced. I think he was already 80-90yo when Geri's game came out, so he would be at least 90-100yo if he was still alive in universe.

I never thought I would say this, but man Geri must've been the most lesser known, if not the most underrated Pixar character that ever existed. I couldn't believe that he wasn't given enough recognition as he deserved. But in the end he had a good run for time in Pixar nonetheless. RIP Geri, we'll miss you, and you'll always be remembered!

Geri was a frail old man, so I think he died onscreen in Toy Story 2 when Al pushed him to the ground so he could look at the newly repaired Woody. Plus we never saw Geri again after that scene.

I work as a freelance toy repair person and I have to say, Geri is one of my heroes because that scene in Toy Story 2 is part of what drove me to the business (the other part is that my grandfather was an antique toy enthusiast and got me hooked on them)

Considering that Geri wasn't wearing a wedding ring in either of his Pixar appearances, I say he was her older brother and it was a family antique store, perhaps inherited from their parents. So whereas she took over the business operations aspect, he went with the restoration part. Maybe he also did appraisals and acquired more merchandise from the folks who'd rather sell the antiques he came to fix up.

In language arts class we were doing a plot diagram on Pixar shorts. This was on of them and lots of them pronounced Geri like jerry instead of Gary. I was pretty sure it was Gary and you obviously agree with me. I know it's trivial, but you guys are the kings of trivial. By the way, great video. I always loved this short and I use the strategy of flipping the board around, every time i play chess.

Hey, I've got a question. Toys with speech sound the same as toys as when they are "alive." Toys that have mouths also have voices (Rex, Potato-Head, Forky). Toys that don't have mouths are still alive, but can't speak (RC, Etch-a-sketch) Why can't the ventriloquist dummies talk? They have mouths and other toys without voice-boxes can speak. Is it just a choice, or are the actually incapable for some reason?

The first Easter Egg I ever spotted was Luxo Jr. in the logo. That was a very famous demonstration if indirect lighting back in 1985 at the SIGGRAPH conference in San Francisco. (Before that, lighting sources were always out of the view of the camera.) They also had the Utah teapot in Toy Story. Both of which made me break out laughing. I met the Pixar people in 1985. I think I talked to John Lassiter - I wish I'd asked for a job. They showed their very first short, called "The Adventures of Andre and Wally B" and I asked them when they were going to make a full length movie. They said that it would be impossible. The two-minute short took 9 months of supercomputer time to render it.
