I was wondering if you could maybe talk about the time of Omer after Pesach. I heard that life slows down during this period (for example, no music with instruments)

Can you do a segment on Health & Wellness? Are the Haredi more or less likely to use conventional medicine are they open to acupuncture? What about medication like addreall, CBD or Marijuana? Or even like secular counseling services for troubled marriages or teens outside of meeting with a Rabbi

Frieda, Another great vlog. Your son is a sweetheart. Your entitled to keep your flip phone. I watched the 10 videos with your interview with Pearl. She is a woman much to be admired, her faith, her family values and her support of her son who is not quite following her expectations. She is a solid mother and an example for all her children to ACCEPT change and not exclude or shun other family members. Thank you for sharing a culture and or faith I would not otherwise have been so intimately exposed.

Frieda, so nice to see you and meet your son, Seth! I bet that pizza tasted AH-mazing 😊 I grew up in a very Irish, Italian, Jewish (not Hasidic, but often observant) neighborhood. Most of us were first generation American, some/quite a few immigrants - our parents/grandparents. So many of the foods you speak of make my mouth water. I feel like a I was very lucky to live my early years there. Everyone got along well, and learned so much about each other, especially regarding food and traditions. I wouldn’t trade those years for any financial success. My sister and I laugh now that we didn’t know we were poor ☺️ We had all we needed plus a few extras. Thanks for all you share with us. I enjoy you and your channel more and more! ❤

Seth is very outgoing. He looks like he could be in his early twenties. I'm assuming he isn't observant but enjoys talking part of the traditions... We raised our son Joshua in a faith-based home, but for now, he has walked away. It reminds me of your friend Pearl's son. If I remember correctly, he is not Orthodox but abides by many of the traditions...

Dear Frieda, Im a serial-viewer of your videos and find your channel to be very insightful and thought-provoking. I was struck by the image of your son wearing a yarmulke, given your departure from Satmar and your journey to explore the world outside of the insular community in which you were raised. I am genuinely curious to hear what role Yiddishkeit plays in your post-Satmar existence. Perhaps this topic would be of interest to your viewers, given your unique position as someone who still deeply understands and respects Satmar, but who has also begun to explore the wider world. I am sure that your insights and experiences would be of great value to many of your followers, who may be struggling with similar questions of identity, faith, and community. Thank you for sharing your story and for being an important voice in the conversation about the complexities of leaving an insular community while still maintaining a connection to one's roots. I look forward to hearing more from you in the future. Best regards, Yaqub

Being from Montreal, while growing up we never had pizza after Passover, not even bread. We bought bread at the bakery the following morning, not at night. And there was no great yearning or rush to buy bread. The house was still all pesachdik till the following morning. It feels like a New York thing, this rush to line up for pizza after Pesach. This year I only had chometz Friday night, i.e. the following night, when the Sabbath had arrived and I had two loaves of challah and the grapejuice in the kiddush cup on the table. But interesting phenomenon this fun type of activity, with young folk going to the stores for bread and pizza.

Deprivation before pleasure increases the reward afterwards. Interesting that even when you discuss the idea of delaying pleasure, you think of it only in terms of the pleasure you'll receive as reward for the delay. You take no risk with potential pleasure and you need insurance in advance about a future pay day. But you get much more for it than the increased pleasure. It teaches your body impulse control to achieve greater more important goals. Especially in those instances when success isn't guaranteed, and most things in life are like that. If you create habits that manage your impulses, you can go really far to achieve great things in many areas of life. Morally, too, for a person with low impulse control, it's very hard to keep even to rules that are related to fairness, to be considerate of other people. The lower your impulse control - the more you're preoccupied with your own needs and desires, and cooperation with others becomes harder leading to less fairness, and this is a vicious cycle that reinforces itself, because less fairness will over time lead to more superficial relationships, and less benefit to gain from others - leads to an even greater loss of impulse control, and so on. The sad thing is that this doesn't happen in one day, but slowly plays out over many decades in the life of an individual, and many generations in the life of a society. You need to have a birds eye view and see how these changes in laws that govern impulse control slowly erodes society in the run of a century or two.
