In their first year of marriage, my mother told my father, "We could get ahead of all these disasters didn't keep happening.". My father said, "All these disasters are called life.". As always, a coherent, cogent video.

Hey Cinzia. Always love your videos. Things will work out. Remember, nothing lasts forever, not even the bad stuff.

To further your ship metaphor - '. a ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for'. As life's stormy seas have buffeted me, or when I have been becalmed ( gaining a weight of barnacles - mentally and physically), I have needed to put into harbour for rest and repairs before I sally forth for a new challenge. So, plan, dear Chinzia, for some time in harbour. Expect to blown off course ( some exciting discoveries have been made that way). I look forward to your next 'sea shanty' from the seas of life. Thank you, and blessings.

Thanks, Cinzia, I took notes! 😁 My main immediate goal is to recover good habits (stop smoking, do exercise, sleep) in a very chaotic working environment and with some complicated plans for the future. For now, I'm using Christmas to go back to walks and weights... "Traveler there's no road, only a ship's wake on the sea" (Antonio Machado)

I am neurodivergent - autistic - and I have great difficulties with executive functioning. Much more so whenever there's a change in routine (which is always because, you know, life). So I appreciate this video so much. My goal for the end of this year is to learn how to embrace the chaos and ride with it...something akin to the Taoist idea of wu wei, or effortless action. Wish me luck!

Self care really is important and often neglected. Where possible, try to foresee possible pitfalls and have a plan for if they happen. This can allow you to change tack with less disruption. Good luck with your plans Cinzia.

My 5 year plan was to: 1. become an artist 2. bring back the scrunchie 3. wear cat ears in public. I've only achieved the first two so far. Happy new year and take it easy Cinzia and fellow viewers! ❤

Superb video! I plan as little as possible by day or week. You can't control everything anyway. Of course I plan the big thing in excruciating detail. Jobs, personal finances etc. John Lennon famously said: "life is what's happening while you're busy making other plans". I'm bad at planning. Hate to commit myself. Especially my time. I thrive on making spontaneous decisions. I never plan the meals for a whole week. I do day by day. I buy what I fancy or on offer. I believe in destiny. These stragies help me to survive. I thrive on intuition. What works for me will probably not work for you. We are all different. But me, I am extremely good at adopting to any situation, job, people or place. That's how I tick. Too much planning makes me very nervous sometimes. To others, lack of plans makes them very anxious.

I feel you So much with spontaneity! I completely get it. I'm actually planning on trying to do the opposite next year for an experiment -- I thrive usually on being more flexible and "on the go" reactionary, but I'm going to test out being really rigid and see what happens

I’ve been studying for a professional certification which would have been my third certification of the year. However, I’ve been struggling to absorb the information for this exam and so I’ve decided to take a couple of weeks off from studying and then return to it in the New Year.

My two goals (with a deadline) is move and get a new job. Health is an ongoing process so I am not putting it down; it should always be top priority. The thing I want most though is to find a loving man that is as supportive and caring as I am. Four years single is long enough and I’ve been an awfully good girl Santa 😊

Out of curiosity, why are you going to lose so much of your income? And why did you change your PhD topic? Everyone else: please don’t scold me for asking personal questions. She won’t answer if she doesn’t want to share.
