Thanks! I have been checking different methods for not having to weave ends in granny squares. Some are way too complicated and seem to take more time than weaving the ends and some seem that could be unraveled easily. Your method is the best of both worlds! Simpler and safer! Thanks for the laundry test on top of it all!

Fancy meeting you here!! My philosophy is, it's only wrong, if it doesn't work! There's often more than one way of getting to the same place, and nothing wrong with that! I think sometimes people can get set on or stuck in only one way doing something, and that becomes the end-all and be-all. It's creative thinking outside the box that develops new solutions, techniques and advances, as with anything. After all, necessity is the mother of invention! And for those of us who dread sewing in ends, it's a win-win in my book! 💗😃💗

I learned how to crochet granny squares over fifty years ago. This was the exact technique my mother taught me to use. I'm not sure who taught my mom. But this is the method I've always used when making any granny squares. It never made sense to me that someone could crochet anything and have have so many tails to weave in at the end when it's so much easier to hide them as you go.

I didn’t know you could do Granny Squares two ways. I always have done them in the round; with one right side/one wrong side. I look forward to trying the turn the square after each row to see how I like it. 👏🤗👍 Your tips were helpful. I generally leave the last row string hanging in order to arrange my squares when it’s time to join. This way, all the bottoms line up. Thank You Very Much! Therese 🧶

Great tutorial! Thanks so much for sharing this technique. Seems like it would hold better, with the reverse granny; since you're then crocheting around the tail, in the opposite direction with each color change. That to me, replicates sewing in ends, with exception of going back in the other direction again, for the 3rd time. Now I'm re-inspired to make grannies again, yay! I'd probably still sew in my beginning tail just a little, for that added security. Especially if using a more slippery fiber. 😅

I love weaving in as I go. Once my square is done, I'm done!

You are kind to respond to comments without delay and I appreciate that! Question: When you complete the last cluster in the first round, and fasten off with a slip stitch, do you insert your hook into the top of your 3rd chain or into the next dc (3 chains + 2 dc to begin round)? I can't seem to figure out how to make a smooth transition!

Hi Carol , I’ve used both ways. I would recommend using whichever looks best to you . The only tip - if you decide to slip st into the dc next to that ch3 , just keep an eye on your stitch count. It might make it look like 2 stitches instead of 3. Not as important with a granny square but just want that to be in your mind in case you experience this issue with other projects. 💕

@ yes about the stitch count which has been a big learning curve for me. Thank you so much and happy holidays to you 🎄❤️🥂

I loved the short cut of weaving ends. What type of cotton was that? You've given me the ambition of doing more of granny squares. Thank you

Roz, this is fabulous, i take tails along as you do in this tutorial but then i used to still weave in again 😜stupid me never thought that ‘s enough and sometimes the centre gets ruined too 🙌🤗thanks for sharing, appreciate a lot 👍❤️🙏🏻

It’s not stupid at all, this is what we’ve all been taught to believe but I can’t deny how well it actually worked. Plus , with so many comments that others are already doing it helps! 😀💕

Is this ever a clever method to avoid weaving in ends. I just tried it using up some scraps and it worked great. The hardest part was getting my mind to think differently from my old method.🤔 Thanks for sharing, Roz.
