I feel like one of the more interesting thing about Pliny that, despite his perpetual work on his book, he was also a VERY good governor and highly respected amongst his fellow men of power. That's kinda a rare thing, especially back then. Normally people let the power go to their heads and do a sh*t job while collecting their wages, but he took that title quite seriously and was quite revered by the people he lead.

I think dude was actually really insightful just that most of the shit he learned was trough word of mouth and he just chose to believe what other dumb "scholars" said

Disagree he clearly did his research for the most part the issue is most normal people even today don't study sky and how weird it can be it's one of the most overlooked spheres of earth. I mean my dude build a well just yo check if the sun hits the right way that's dedication. And yes sky is known to produce bunch of weird events be it plasma in the sky or homing out of the ground or things darting jn the sky or sun refractions ate clearly this is he seen heck meat rain isn't that weird considering it does tend to rain weird stuff due the weather

To be fair, the idea about wind creating earthquakes was pretty smart conclusion. Without the knowledge of tectonic plates and not getting quakes often, he came to a pretty logical reason

@@DrFunkman Right, if I read his works in official peer reviewed papers back then, I would have tapped my head and been like OHHHHHHHH! That makes sense! Why didn't I think of that?

@@DrFunkmanpeople also don’t realise how recent the discovery of tectonics was. It was in like 1960. So there’s a good chance a number of people’s grandparents didn’t even learn about it in school
