There's a major x-factor for why olympic weightlifting is necessary in power training: it's cool. 😎

I love the call-out to those of us who commented about the weight-class strongman competitions. I'm technically right that there are a lot of reaosnably competitive middleweight strongman competitions, but you're also right in that no-one cares.

I taught myself power cleans and snatches in my yard, I think the benefits are worth the training. I've never been a fast runner and all the sudden run fast. Like the boys said the athletes that are always in the weightroom may be more inclined to ad some hang cleans/snatches and add from the floor or boxes but say a tennis player perhaps should stick to plyos

I think using snatch or c&j really depends on the facilities available to the athlete. If they have the equipment, and a coach with the know how, I think they’re great since they can reach reasonable proficiency. However if they don’t have access to good equipment of a coach, I still think power cleans may be of value since they’re pretty easy, but other than that, similar effects can still be achieved using other more regular strength movements.

Depends on how much time a coach has with an athlete or group of athletes, budget, size of coaching staff, facilities etc. The average high school coach who is also a full time teacher might not be proficient in training the full snatch and clean & jerk, Especially if the school has a limited budget. He or she might get good results by teaching the front squat, hang power clean & strict press to 30 students, and focus more on the sport itself.

hey guys could i run the backsquat program for front squats? or is it only really for back squats?

They mentioned it in another video I believe it was how to front squat for tall lifters and they said yes.

Can you really do a placebo for weightlifting + strength work? :p
@matthewmckee62892 жыл бұрын
Sure, but it depends to what extent. If you are expecting some sort of placebo to add 20kg to your back squat if it normally takes you a year to add 5kg, then that’s almost certainly not going happen.

@MrSpicabooo2 жыл бұрын
@@thechosenone93 hmm i guess i would describe it as a pull, then at the knee level ur legs scoop under and u extend everything(i guess u could say jump but i dont like that phrasing) and then u pull ur body under the bar to catch it. I think its best u dont even try to learn it like this with phrasing and just get a pvc pipe or brook and just kind of practice it, find technical model on youtube to mimic and practice it like that.

Questions about real athletes. How do one program for competition, ie pre-season into season or running up to a single competition/game. Secondly, whats the point of training camps for natural athletes?
