Wonderful podcast! You are all so much fun to watch. You also have so many interesting insights, brilliant! I feel that from the first meet-cute, when Lucas said Elizabeth was “perfect” for the waitress job, I have always thought he really meant for him. I love the entire continuity of the writing, episode to episode and season to season. Finally I don’t really care about the negative TN people, it is their loss to be bitter, but I do feel sorry for them as they are missing such a beautiful love story and wonderful show. Can’t wait for your next episode in the new year.🥰

When Div referred to the "jail thing," it suddenly hit me that of course Elizabeth had to go to the jail to tell Nathan she was not in love with him. She was setting herself free from the prison of grief and guilt she'd been experiencing the past three years. What a relief!

Loved this podcast ladies ❤ Excellent 👏👏👏 . It was always supposed to be Lucas and I don't care what they said🤣 Lucas has been the only one who never pressured her about anything. He always brought joy, happiness and whether Elizabeth admitted it also passion. The fact that because of their privileged background they both know how special they are as people because they are not entitled or snobby or selfish. Elizabeth doesn't have to do anything for Lucas. He gives her all the freedom and space she needs but he also steps up and take charge when he has too. Lucas remembers everything Elizabeth tells him so he acts on those things which makes Elizabeth happy. When Elizabeth said she didn't want it to be a date and he said basically it will be whatever you want it to be to be comfortable. However it was a date because Lucas made all the arrangements, paid for everything so it was a date. Lucas is perfect for Elizabeth in every way because they share all their worlds. The wealthy, their love of HV and the writing world. Both are comfortable in all those. In fact Lucas knows the writing world better than Elizabeth because she would not have sent a partial work to a publisher. He will be the best person to travel with her when she has her book signings. TN believes she gave up her wealthy lifestyle and that she didn't want it. But she was assigned to HV as a punishment because she refused the advancement of the person giving out the assignment. But she wanted to prove to everyone she was serious about her career that's why she went to CV. Jack won her over with the fancy first date and all the romantic jesters. Elizabeth likes that.Jack and Lucas made her feel special. Lucas never allowed her to see any pain she caused him. Jack wasn't rich but he did know how to socialize. Imagine Nathan going to Elizabeth's family home for dinner. He wouldn't know to dress for dinner and rich people always want to know what a suitors family does for a living. Can't imagine Nathan handling that. In fact does Nathan even know Elizabeth came from wealth? Jack struggled with her background and in my opinion he was a better person than Nathan. On their UC trip is when I thought Elizabeth started falling seriously for Lucas. She already was having feelings but with Lucas's revelation she saw something different about him that she didn't know, that he wanted a family. He didn't say he wanted a wife, he said he wanted a family. So here's this handsome, rich, thoughtful, selfless, caring and ( I am going to add he smells good because to me he would) knows my life so well is a no Brainerd. Also Lucas has been the only person that has made Elizabeth really happy and fulfilled all her dreams since Jack's death. So how could she just disregard all that to choose a person who doesn't believe she knows how to make decisions on her own and doesn't know anything about her except she's kind and a good teacher. Every time Nathan bash Lucas he bashes Elizabeth because their interests are the same. Nathan lies to Elizabeth and that just won't do for Elizabeth. With the town always worrying about hurting Nathan's feelings got on my nerves. Laura's father is a single man raising a daughter. I do love Nathan with Allie but Allie gets away with things Elizabeth doesn't let other children get away with so her influence on Jack would also be a problem for Elizabeth in my opinion. I guess I have said enough 🤣 Great job ladies👏👏👏👏

I always love your podcast, now looking back through season 6-8 to me Lucas was the planned end game right from the cute meet and greet first scene. I think the writers already knew and wrote the most beautiful love story with books being the thread from the beginning of the story. If you saw Paul Greene podcast with Chris McNally talking about the chemistry read with Erin, in a stagecoach talking about books so so well done the triangle was to keep the drama going As for the cast I think they all knew the end game so so good can’t wait for season 9

Loved the episode but it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around all the TN nonsense. I knew absolutely nothing about WCTH and only a little about Hallmark until I watched “It Was Only You” with Tyler Hynes and Erin Krakow. Loved the movie and so started down the path of finding other shows starring either one of them. Purchased all the seasons of WCTH on Amazon Prime and proceeded to binge watch!!! I knew nothing…not that Daniel Lissing had left the show…not that there was any kind of triangle….not that there was such a thing as “The Hearties” or that a whole social media community existed. When they killed Jack I was heartbroken and thought…. how can the show continue…..but I knew it had because I had purchased 8 seasons! When Season 6 Episode 3 started and Lucas Bouchard showed up I thought to myself…..well hello new leading man!! When Nathan arrived I just couldn’t believe that they would redo the same storyline….I thought it would cheapen the love story between Elizabeth and Jack as if one Mountie were interchangeable for another Mountie, whereas Lucas offered a world of new possibilities and the chemistry between Lucas and Elizabeth was off the charts. Watching Seasons 6 - 8 I never once believed that Nathan would be Elizabeth’s choice….the story pointed toward Lucas over and over and over and over. I always believed that the triangle simply gave the show and Elizabeth time to find new love without feeling hurried or negating the love she had shared with Jack. I watched in blissful ignorance and loved every minute…..boy was I in for a rude awakening when I started down the social media rabbit hole. I think what struck me the most was the Paul Greene interview with Chris McNally when he shared the vitriol that had come his way after he was chosen…..I still can’t comprehend!! Then to hear all these crazy crazy theories….what show were they watching?? I had the benefit of continuity and no preconceived notions and I am left shaking my head to the point I had to go back and rewatch Seasons 6 - 8 (such a hardship😂😂) to make sure it wasn’t me who had lost my mind. I understand people may have wanted a different outcome but there is no excuse for hate or attempts to damage careers or get a show cancelled or delusional bunny trails😳😳 So glad to have found The Lucabeth Lounge and others who celebrate WCTH for the wonderful show that it is…..I admit I am just a little bit “Lucabeth” obsessed now!!

Ditto. Well said. It is incomprehensible to me that anyone would actually feel such hatred toward actors and show production members to the point of trying to damage them and their product simply because they didn’t like the outcome of a story! I haven’t done more than peek into that social media “rabbit hole” - mostly via what has been mentioned by these intelligent and knowledgeable ladies at The LucaBeth Lounge and by the comments of TN beneath Lucas and Elizabeth videos here on KZbin. That has been more than enough to prevent me from venturing any further down that dark and ugly trail. I think the most disheartening thing about it has been that some of the haters have tried to claim a Christian moral high ground for their spiteful, vitriolic attitudes and actions toward the people of WCTH. It’s one thing to disagree and express those points of disagreement and concerns about what you might consider the moral implications. It is quite another to cede every vestige of your moral argument by your own very un-Christ-like behavior. My hope is that - because some of them have brought Christ into the mix - they will give their attitudes and actions a more prayerful thought for good moral outcomes in the story lines of Hope Valley, regardless of the characters that might be involved. We have precious little of that available to us in entertainment these days. It is beyond sad to try and destroy it because your guy didn’t win the girl in the story!

I love your podcasts, because they make me think again about this story we all love. I am beginning to think that the reason Nathan couldn't give up his dream of winning Elizabeth is mainly because he has such guilt over what happened to Jack, and whether or not in some way it was his fault. He's convinced himself that the only way he will ever be able to forgive himself is to replace Jack in Elizabeth's heart. This is what has to happen (in Nathan's mind) in order to get past this guilt. So you're right, he isn't thinking about what she wants, but what he needs in order to see himself as the decent heroic person he wants to be. I'd never really thought about this before, but it makes more sense than his seemingly blind determination that she has to be his. In the long run, seeing Elizabeth truly happy may eventually be just what he needs to move on, even if she is with another man..

I love the way Bill went up to Lucas to tell him that Elizabeth mentioned that they were going to Union City strictly as friends. He’s so protective of everyone in town, and it was nice to see him go into that protective father mode. Also, it was nice to see that Bill gave Lucas his approval and when Elizabeth tried to explain to Bill that they were only going as friends, the way he said “You don’t ever have to explain yourself to me” was like he approved of Lucas taking her on the date. Loved that scene with all 3 of them.

Another great podcast! I loved how Lucas looked when Elizabeth told him she would go to Union City, but it wasn’t a date. Although Lucas appeared a little surprised by her statement what he realized was that no matter what label Elizabeth placed on the trip, they would be together. Lucas knew it was a date, and an opportunity to maybe advance their relationship. Even though it was obvious before this episode they would be together; this episode should’ve had all the Nathan fans waving white flags of surrender.

On the bonus dvd erin &chris both said Chris told Elizabeth he would accompany anyway she would feel comfortable BUT it turned into a date Erin said she had such a wonderful time with lucas She got caught up in the moment amd she liked it.

OMG you ladies had me laughing so much, Lucas was written to be Elizabeth's Lifetime handsdown !! Loved this breakdown of Union City, so many happy smiles from Lucabeth before even leaving town, I can count on one hand the times you see Nathan & Elizabeth smile or enjoy each other's company & all of those happy times involved Allie and you know Nathan used Allie to get to Elizabeth on several occasions

Ah ladies 👏🙌 Just like I said on Twitter after listening to this podcast first. This is the best podcast episode yet. & watching the video version on KZbin makes it even better. Just to be able to see your reactions. Made it even funnier if I can even say that. Especially in the last 20 minutes or so of the madness 🐇🍄🤣🤪 Jillian I feel you 😂 trying to hide under that blanket. Dying with laughter (I was laughing too much you know how it hurts in your stomach I was crying as well) & almost of embarrassment as well at the craziness of that theory. Just love how the writers ✍️ got wind of it, & used it to mess with those particular TN fans 😂 Back to the actual discussion of you analysing the Union City episode. Your analysis totally is spot on. I agree with all your points wholeheartedly 😉 (see what I did there) Anyway like it’s been said. If anyone is a stalker in Hope Valley. It is definitely Nathan. Staring at the two of them for way to long. It’s actually creepy. & so very pouty. Sorry not sorry 🤷‍♀️ but to anyone who still now (if there is still you’re stupid to think this) Is like “Lucas gives me weird vibes, he’s clearly hiding something” or whatever. Sorry on what basis can you say that, when there is no evidence to give. None whatsoever. I think I’ve actually now become to like Nathan less & less as a character. To begin with I quite liked him (just not for Elizabeth, didn’t see chemistry just saw awkwardness) but the more analysis I’ve seen of yours including of Nathan. The more things I see in his character that are just not likeable. Would have been such a toxic relationship if E&N had been endgame. Thank goodness they weren’t persuaded to change the outcome from the wrath of those particular TN fans (Departies, or the hidies (like someone on Twitter said, are those who hate the outcome of season 8 so much but will just lurk & watch season 9 anyway just so they can whine and moan at it) it’s like just go away. Go and watch a show where you do like the outcome. It’s surely got to be exhausting to continue to watch something you “hate”. Also I want to say that after rewatching season 7 I feel like Lucas scored two homeruns with Union City and the not-a-date night before Nathan ever went up to bat. She would drop hints to Nathan about the fact that Lucas asked her and he didnt but it still took him till the last episode of the season to even ask her for dinner! Regardless of money, he could have surprised herbwith a picnic or a horse ride but he never makes any move at all other than feeling jealous and sorry for himself. The other very obvious thing that jumps out in season 7 is the storyline with the student who wants to become a Mountie and how Elizabeth feels about it. After that I think she might realize that she doesnt want that kind of risky life anymore. The hug at the end of the season was not about love or hidden feelings...it was about fear and trauma and I think it leads to her rejection of Nathan in season 8.

When Div was talking about Alice in Wonderland, all I could think of is when Lucas drove up to Elizabeth's house and her and Little Jack were sitting on the blanket in front of her house watching the two white bunnies LoL. I had one lady send me entire story about Season 8 being a dream and in Season 9 Elizabeth would wake up and realize she had picked the wrong man just like in Dallas about 45 years ago.

Now watching this for like at least the 5th time. & When Lucas is saying about something nice should be done for Elizabeth. & Nathan says something like “I’d like to think I already have.” Well literally the only thing I can remotely think of that Nathan might have done for Elizabeth (& ever does for her other than the flowers for which we never see her reaction for receiving flowers from him) is giving her that plaque. Whether he made it himself or not, we don’t know. But even before UC Lucas had done several things for Elizabeth, including getting to know her, forming a relationship. Even though they hadn’t been on a “official” date yet. So yeah #ItWasAlwaysLucas #LucaBeth #S9WillBeDevine.

I think that Nathan's line "I think I've already done" is about his coming to Hope Valley to take care of her because of Jack, that's why I don't believe they decided for Lucas just on season 8

Exactly. He is so presumptuous. Elizabeth of course said to Rosemary that she had never asked Nathan to come to HV to protect and care for her and LJ and she never asked him to fall in love with her. That sounds pretty dismissive in my book.

Loved this podcast. Love Lucas and Elizabeth. I cannot see Nathan as her love interest in any way. I saw no romance ever from Elizabeth fir Nathan. Sorry but Nathan is a country bumpkin and Lucas a man if the world. Lucas on numerous occasions went out if his way for Elizabeth. What woman wouldn’t live ti be wooed by a handsome man who is kind patient abd intellectual her equal. I could go in and on. They are well suited for each other on si many levels whereas a Nathan Not so Much. I like you guys am over the moon for Lucas and. Elizabeth as a pairing. Come on trakky I’m over the moon about Chris McNally. Love you guys

Loved finally seeing this episode with you ladies! Just have to say the thought crossed my mind that, if Chris McNally had been cast as Nathan, and Kevin McGarry as Lucas, it’s quite possible that Elizabeth would have chosen the Mountie again, and it would have been hilarious to see those “saloon keeper” detractors rooting for Kevin as Lucas instead of Chris as Nathan! Because it’s obvious that desire of some Kevin fanatics to have him in the leading man role is at the root of their ridiculous hatred for Chris. (I mean!! Who in their right mind could hate that adorable guy!!!) 😊💕 Guess that’s one of the reasons they’re called fanatics! 😄 These guys are quite likely friends in real life, and may very well become friendlier in “reel” life. Kevin seems to be a nice guy, so having so much venom spewed on his behalf must be uncomfortable for him, at least. The asininity of it all is probably an embarrassment to his more levelheaded fans too. Just a part of life for public figures, I guess. Bless ‘em!🥰

Said this because Chris would probably have brought a different perspective to Nathan’s character as would have Kevin to Lucas. I know the writers are the initial instruments, but the personality and chemistry of the actors likely plays a part in this type of writing as well.

Hey ladies...love this forum. I just want to criticize one thing. I LOVE Lucas and I am so so happy that the writers made him for Elizabthe for all of the reasons u outlined BUT...I do think Nathans lifestyle and general outlook and class is more like Jack. The one thing I wish they qould do is soften up Lucas so sometimes he is more casual like Jack was. Like when he built the library and he dressed a bit less formal. We cant make the argument that Nathan and Elizabeth are from two different worlds or that he coudl never understand her bec that woulf negate her relationship with Jack. They did make it work and it was wonderful. So that doesnt hold water..

I am team Lucas all the way....but, in regards to the 'wood chopping scene', keep in mind that Nathan is in love with Elizabeth. It must have been frustrating, surprising and hurtful for him to hear that she was spending time away in Union City with Lucas. To me, this scene meant that Nathan had FINALLY come to the realization that Lucas was a REAL contender for Elizabeth's heart. And the poor tree took the brunt of it. 🙂

I'm sorry -- in love or not, that behavior is uncalled for and a big red flag. After taking his anger out through woodchopping, he then makes Elizabeth feel guilty and ices her out for days until she calls him out. None of this demonstrates a man "in love", rather a man who feels entitled to a woman who is not his.
