Your experience with drilling into the acrylic should let you know what is going to happen. It tends to shatter under torsion. Great for making display cases (worked at the ANMM 25 years ago) but can't bear a load. Good luck!

For less crappy silver paint, apply silver in many very very ultra thin layers, and apply one or two coats of clear A FEW DAYS AFTER, when the silver's FULLY CURED. Apply clear too soon and it WILL wrinkle or bubble and you can start all over again!
