For me, Pikachu always had a black tail, I still remember the day that I realized it changed, when I'd told friends we'd all freaked out. It just changed one day, and it never went back to "normal". I was hoping someone pointed this out. There are just multiple red flags in the art and decisions that an artist would not make (Best example is the first one where the back ear in the pikachu/pichu hybrid thing under pikachu is larger than the one in the front. Any artist at that skill level would know that’s not for perspective works. Lesser examples are how on the second one the red cheek pouches wouldn’t really be showing up like that on a back view, but ai would add it since most art of pikachu has the red cheeks. The third the clouds and tail are pretty big giveaways. The tail just has like no shading and looks like a sticker, while the clouds just look wrong.) It’s sad ai being used so much and not being disclosed if it’s been used. And it’s to the point where most people can’t tell or don’t bother because it looks good enough.

I know this may sound dumb or like I'm crazy, but pikachu's tail did originally have a black tip, and that is why pichu's tail is black. I remember before gen 2 came out. When it did, I thought "wow that's interesting, they gave pichu a black tail to match the tip of pikachu's". I know that it doesn't now, but i will swear till I die that it did. Onix the pokemon is spelled with an i. Onyx the rock is spelled with a y. Onix was spelled with an i to distinguish it from the rock.

The Pikachu-tail paradox could stem from the tail's base being a dark-ish brown. If you are still a young kid, for example, you could be unattentive and misremember that being a black spot at the tip of the tail (maybe influenced by the black tips of the ears); when you grow up, you will, then, inherit this memory and it could affect your view of Pikachu for years to come. Since with this explanation the mixup typically happens at a very young age, as your early memories fade it might seem as if the tail was always black-tipped (or used to be) since the wrong-tailed version might be the oldest memory of Pikachu you have left-thus creating a Mandela effect. I think I had this happen to me when I once tried to draw Pikachu from memory back in my early childhood, and since I didn't use a reference (didn't even have a phone to get a reference image with), I coloured Pikachu's tail's tip black. Noticably, I remember drawing it with that serrated edge the actual tail's base has, because I knew there was something like that there. Back then it felt like a natural placement because I was a barely cognizant toddler, but I remember keeping that belief for long after I could have corrected that misconception and now I don't remember how I saw Pikachu before that.
