I value and respect you both so much I hesitate to rush to criticism when I find a point of disagreement, but I would challenge the assertion that ending the war now without the IDF going all the way into Rafah and utterly destroying Hamas's ability to rule Gaza doesn't necessarily lead to less loss of Palestinian lives. In the very near term, a ceasefire certainly would lower the looming death toll. On a longer time horizon, however, leaving Hamas to retake Gaza seems to me very unlikely to be good for the Palestinians in any way shape or form, and will inevitably lead to another major military confrontation. I could of course be wrong, but I believe that's the broad consensus of much of the Israeli leadership (and people), and I happen to believe it's right.

As a family we were worried that there might not be a Graduation ceremony and that the same students who didn't have a high school graduation would yet again be left feeling cheated. At the University of Michigan the protestors were not only demanding immediate divestment they were also demanding that the University abolish the Campus Police Department and cut ties with all surrounding Police agencies. These same demands were made in 2023 by the Graduate Instructors Organization when they went on strike demanding higher wages. Its Laughable at best. At one point the protesters at the U of M encampment were seeking donations for "food and supplies". Due to overwhelming support of their efforts they found themselves with excess funds and tweeted out that they no longer needed donations but put a link to a non profit to help those struggling in Gaza.
