I have to applaud Tom for doing so many reviews. I can't remember the last time I found a game then went to youtube and did NOT find that Tom did a review on it. And I have seen some obscure games. This guy is a work hours. Thanks Tom!

You know you can draw from the discard piles right? That's where most of the player interaction came in for us.

awesome, I got my copy from Kickstarter yesterday so this review is just in time for me to hear some Dice Tower thoughts. Hopefully crack it open this weekend.

Am I the only one who looked at the title of this video and read it as "Progress Report - with Tom Vasel"? Well, how's it going Tom? :P

Ahh, definitely one of my favourite games atm. And I absolutely agree, 5 players is wayyyy to many, haha. Did that once the first time, never again! Also we found that starting with 3 actions instead of 2 is a huge plus, else the race for gaining that first action upgrade is just way to important and the difference between getting it and not getting it is huge.

What's up with that judgement thing :p

I've played this game twice now. Once with a full complement of 5 players and once with just 2 players. I agree with Tom, 5 is too many, especially when you have the AP girl at your table that for her last action decides to draw 5 cards and then due to hand limit had to discard 4 cards. (And going through the discardpile first to check whether she wanted to draw from discard or draw pile) 2 players was nice, although I missed a bit of time to plan my turn on the other players turn. Can't wait to try it with 3, that might be the sweetspot for me.

I think I tend to dislike the hammer. It condenses the review to a simple yes or no, but sometimes Tom says "It's not for me, but others will love it" or "If you can overlook some flaws then it's fine". So these games won't get the Dice Tower's seal, but I think it's not fair to say "Don't buy this"... Will the hammer be able to give a "Maybe-maybe not"-judgement?

I totally agree. The hammer can take all the nuance out of a review.

Ha Ha. "Dice Tower Approved!" made me do a spit take. Excellent new addition.

May not be a fit for my group, but I like the idea. I'll see if I can try before I buy! Great vid as always :)

Will the next Top 10 list also feature the judgement hammer? :)

This game reminds me a lot of Legacy Gears Of Time but with no interaction between the players. Still I got that race for the galaxy feel to it and will sure try it.

We have a good time in a 4 player game, but it would probably work better with 2 or 3. Solid game.

Played 2 player with 4th age, and felt like my cards didn't give me as much benefit as my opponents cards did. Will definitely play again with the other expansions.

I don't agree with the idea that there is no effect on you opponents or vice versa whatsoever. How you use the various draw abilities , what cards you use to put into development and what you choose to hold in your hand can have a huge impact on nullifying your opponents efforts. You can certainly play as if your playing solitaire and not pay attention to what your opponent is trying to build but you will likely lose to an opponent who is actually paying attentions to you and making efforts to disrupt your strategy , maybe 4 out of five times.

It looks like a decent half a game. It's like playing Civilization without armies or a board.

Interesting concept but it seems to be an annoying game to play with the kind of player who likes to plan every single move beforehand. I can see some people spending a lot of time taking a look at the map of cards and being a true analysis paralysis. Still, great review. Thank you and keep up with the good work!
