You pronounced it perfectly! Most people around here (lots of german heritage) say the. J as a Y sound.. and I know Pennsylvania has a lot of german heritage too. 🎉

Great job. Keep listening to your mom and dad with what you are doing. They both know what they are doing. I have been selling building material for 47 years. Can tell you a boat load about wood. You do not need that. Just listen to your folks. They have a ton of common sense. It is going to turn out great! Enjoyed and thanks so much for letting me ride along.

That bottom board is looking really pretty! Love seeing mom. She's a great icon for young girls with dreams. I know the videos are a week behind, but that 540 line should be heading your way by Thursday(?) so it will be interesting to see if it's just cold or snow. I hope it's just cold so you can keep working on the barn. 😊

The boards are not straight because the lumber yard you bought at the lumberyard did not rotate the lumber enough or not at all. I worked for small lumber yard one summer in Illinois and they always rotated the lumber to prevent that curve in the wood. You also have to be careful that the lumberyard does not sneak in green wood which will bend when it dries out. I know some house builders who found out that mistake the hard way when the lumber started poking through the finished walls of a brand-new house.

Awesome work, just a suggestion..you might want to try pulling the posts with a ratchet straps to straighten them when putting on the the perlins and girts and you might want to cut a scrap piece of wood to use as a spacer for the perlins & girts..also you might want to think about covering your pressure treated wood on the ground...sunlight can quickly warp the wood...keep up the great work!

Now that it's becoming an obviously large project, at today's inflated prices, to wrap that baby up with lumber and metal roofing you are going to be stunned buying all these materials. And how do you propose to lift up those rafters and other materials when you start doing that work? And the roofing....OOOOOOOO big bucks. Should have built this 3 years ago, prices are insane and going even higher. I think your "Excitement" is going to turn into "Holy Cow" do you know how much this barn is going to cost? Take it from a guy who does all kinds of building projects, this big barn is going to be big bucks......And by the time you guys get ready for the siding and roof, it's even going to cost a lot more. Taking a leisurely pace will add to the cost, unless you have bought it all ahead of time...What about permits? inspections? Adding electricity , you'll probably need a power line extension, pole and transformer and electrical permits and inspections. Where I live you have to have an approved plan and permits before you can dig a hole in the ground... And your property taxes will go up......Just saying that things aren't like they use to be, not where I live for sure...

The thing with pressure treated pine is to keep it wet it keeps it from drying out and bowing before installing. They actually run sprinklers on pressure treated in the lumber yards.

If I were you I’d leave a little access spot for barn cats maybe a sleeping box. And an area to put some food. It always helps with field mice/ rats and other vermin in the barn. We had cats in ours and my little Pekinese dog would hunt for vermin every time I pulled out a bale.

I'm curious about using only wood for the foundation and just wonder why you didn't make a foundation of concrete block. Is it mainly the cost? Just wondering about rats chewing and rot and what not.

❤Question: Why do some horse stalls have doors with fence, some without fence, some no door at all only a rope looking thing. Thanks
@veggiepiggie3405

I don't know if every stall has a reason, but Declan used to kick the door again and again after his meal saying "Lemme oooooout. I'm ready to be out in the pasture!" He now has a rope and he does respect that barrier.

On days you have limited time to get some work done why not set up your layout for trellises and begin to assemble the trellises so they are pre-made and ready to use when you get the post up?

Regarding the new hay barn... do you plan to put a "loft" above the area where the horses hang out? Might be a nice place to store some stuff above ground & out of the weather.

not to dampen the mood on your cold pizza but there making a killing on that for sure looks like just crust, sauce and a little cheese very little probably cost $3 to make a 18 inch like that at home from scratch in all honesty i make them all time now! i just put in bread machine the dough is easy 3/4 teaspoon of yeast put in warm water for at least 5 minute to activate then put in mixer or you can do it by hand as well but add to bowl, then add 1 tablespoon of oil, 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 and half cup of double zero Tipo flour ( Extra Fine ) then add 1 cup of all purpose need well and let sit for at least 2 hours but not more then 48 tends to not be as good after 48 hours, then just put on counter or pan and kind of push out slowly working the dough outwards for a few minutes take a few minutes don't rush as the dough will be elastic like at first and takes time to expand, then just add sauce to your liking and cheese or topping you like even with some turkey pepp's and stuff double cheese is less then $10 but way better then chain stores
