It won't reach its full potential until closer to the release of the next console. If they did that early in its life, then it wouldn't have anywhere to go from there. Thats what I read about the ps4 years ago. I imagine they'll use the same kind of plan.

Both consoles last generation reached their full potential between 2015-16 with the release of games like Witcher 3, Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, etc. What we got towards the end - games like RDR2, God of War, Forza Horizon 4 - were games running the systems at max capacity and dropping frames like crazy. Anyone who’s played these on the release consoles versus the “pro versions” of these consoles knows that these late stage games were totally made for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, respectively… pretty much every game releasing holiday 2017 and later were made with those upgrades in mind.

I got a ps5 closer to when it had just came out. I play gta5 and as everyone knows the loading times are insane, the ps5 loads it so much faster than previous consoles and the game looks beautiful. The controllers build quality is insanely upgraded and definitely the best controller I’ve ever used.

@@SuperJumpReviews As far as storytelling, it is irreverent, clever, slightly absurd (which I'm up for!). The action is a lot like the Nioh games, fast and satisfying. So as far as FF spinoff games go, I'd say it's not quite as awesome as Crisis Core PSP, but certainly as good as Type-0 if you are willing to experience a "meta" FF story & play a Team Ninja action game.

Currently all the games are still there on PS4/Pro, unless one needs a true 4K treat. PS5 will truly become a necessity, once they stop making for last generation. Will wait for couple more games to release before exchanging my old PS4 for PS5. Especially games like Gotham knights, God of war Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, Suicide Squad, Callisto Protocol, dead space remake & Alan wake 2.

Honestly I’ve always had issues with the downloads… the Bluetooth interferes within the home network and grinds everything down to a crawl of the PS5 is on and Bluetooth is enabled. When I’ve disabled it, I’ve actually found it’s slower than my PS4 slim (I gave away.) Say FF7 remake : it would take about 8-11 hours to download on PS4. The PS4 or 5 version will take a weekend now* honestly I don’t know what else I can do other than to leave it alone. But I can confirm it’s just the PS5 and not our home network.

Not sure if PS5 introduced some hidden update but it doesn’t affect your download speed if you are running a game. The same doesn’t happen on Series X, if you are running a game on XSX and have another game downloading in background, the speed of download is almost cut to half and doesn’t get back up unless the running game is closed.

I can't comment on folders as I never used them in the past but I think I have an answer to the themes one. I used to love changing the themes on the PS4 too and was so confused as to why it was removed on PS5. It was such a neat feature and I think I know why now after using the ps5 for a few years. It's because every game on the PS5 now literally is its own theme. Whenever you scroll through your list of games, each game has it's own background and most of the time has it's own theme song that plays with it. So I figured that's why they got rid of it. Why have just one theme throughout when you can have and endless amount based on the games you have right? Just my theory. It sucked at first but I think I like the way it is now.

While this was a wonderful list, half the games are also available on the Xbox Series X ($500 and currently available in-person in many stores), and they play just fine on the Series S ($300, and easily available in many places and online). I think if you’d thrown in something like Final Fantasy VII Remake, Demon’s Souls (remake), and, obviously, Spider-Man, the list would feel more “PS5 heavy”. It’s true that Forbidden West is gonna carry the system all the way until God of War Ragnarok is released, but until you reached that point in the list, it kinda seemed like you were just listing games you liked, and you happened to have a PS5, so that’s where you play this… which defeats the purpose of the title of this video if I can just as easily play half of these (and more than half of them, on PC) on a different platform. That being said, you made some good points about each game, so, nice.

@@nameless7958 Hidden gems is a catch all. For some people, it means a FPS, for others it means a RTS. If you have the PSPlus monthly catalog thing, there are plenty of games to play from the PS4 era. But here are a few “hidden gems”: - Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2 - Kena (this is slowly showing up to becoming a hidden gem as very few have played it and it’s 10mo old already) - Ashen - 11-11: Memories Retold - Ghost of a Tale - Battle Chasers - All three Metro games (many people still haven’t played these and it’s a fucking crime) - The first Ni no Kuni Remastered (this game will be one of those really expensive collector’s edition kinda games in 15yrs) - Echochrome (if you’ve never played it) - Dandara - Transference - Dreamfall Chapters - Fighting EX Layer - Concrete Genie (another one many have missed) - SOMA (a game I rarely see in a “top survival horror” list) - Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning (this game still doesn’t get enough love.. same writer as TES Morrowind and Oblivion) - 2064: Read Only Memories - Cross Code - VA-11 Hall-A - The Wonderful 101: Remastered (used to be a Wii U exclusive) - Apotheon (this game is so badass if you like 2D action and Greek myths - Heavy Rain (many people have played Beyond and Detroit, but few have played the OG) - Giana Sisters - Tearaway - Stories: Path of Destinies - Furi - Styx (a bit dated) - The Swapper (wonderful puzzle platformer) - The Last Tinker (also dated but still a fun concept and story) So… some of these are available on both the PS5 and PC. Leave it up to you. Some people would say this or that is “not a hidden gem”, but for those who only play MOBAs, Shooters, MMO stuff, zombie, etc, many of these probably went under their radar.

I think another problem is the fact that the vast majority of playstation exclusives are single player story driven games. Games like forbidden west and stray hqve little to no replay value because you’re gonna get the same experience every single time you play it. If god of war ragnorok’s story is compelling enough, this obviously won’t be a problem. But people can’t play the same game for the rest of the generation. Whereas microsoft’s subsidiaries excel at both multiplayer and single player. Take bethesda- DOOM is an extremely refined single player experience, and the elder scrolls online will definitely add to xbox’s multiplayer ranks. There’s also call of duty, but I doubt that will become an exclusive. Halo is, but they have problems they have to sort out. The only thing sony have going for them is bungie. But I don’t think a mew destiny will be able to support the console.

@@MichaelM28 I think it is a problem for the long term. These games are incredible right now, but they’re not enough to sustain a long-term audience. Hellblade and starfield, yes, are in fact singleplayer games. However, they aren’t all there is to offer. I belivee the open-endedness of starfield will somewhat counter the effect, similar to what we saw with games such as botw, skyrim and elite dangerous.

I don’t believe that hoarding games to a library is a productive way to incentivise people to buy your console. This is especially apparent because the only reason this exists in the first place is because games didn’t used to be compatible with multiple games systems. Since this is no longer the case, microsoft and playstation are better off competing in ither ways, don’t you think?

hmmm .... isnt GT7 heavily monetised with micro transactions for progression and is getting serious criticism for it. To be honest I've had my PS5 about 2 months now and barely played it. There are some great updates in the graphics on many PS4 games but I don't have a TV to make the best out of them so I do end up still playing most of my game son my PS4 Pro at 4K. Maybe by 2023 there will be more games making use of the PS5's true potential... at the moment most aren't overly impressive yet over PS4 Pro.

I've had a lot of fun with it. 4K movies. Ratchet and Clank. Ghost of Tsushima upgrade played for the first time on PS5. Returnal and Deathloop (though I didnt finish either ; another day lol) Horizon Forbidden West. Spiderman looks amazing as well as GOW. Currently playing Gran Turismo 7 and Metro games for the first time.

I'm glad it's worth it to you, it's not worth it to me though, that's why I opted for a gaming laptop instead, I get free games, no subscription required and play games online free. I don't play enough games these days to warrant the cost of a PS+ sub and on PS4 I wasn't even able to play GT Sport without a sub, I expect more games to go this route, force people to buy a sub or game doesn't work.

The mere fact the ps5 plays ps4 games much better was enough reason for me. A respawn times moving from 2 minutes to 15 seconds , and many ps4 games have the free ps5 upgrade 21060p/1440p at 60 fps compared to 1080p at 30fps. I have a ps5 and 40 ps4 cd games and only one ps5 games so far because God Of War came with the machine.

Other game mentions that are awesome for the PS5 (ideally with an OLED TV) God of War Ragnarok The Last of us 2 - ignore the haters .This game was awesome to play and very well made. Death Stranding - Directors cut As a Horizon Dawn fan, I enjoyed Forbiden West but the graphics could've been better in terms of more classy/realistic rather than arcadey but still a good game.

Congrats on the PS5!!!✊Yeah, it's simple to play PS4 games on PS5. Put the disc in and the ps5 will automatically download any updates. As for upscale/upgrading the the ps4 games, that's a little tricky. Most PS4 games will play better on PS5 without having to do anything. But there are some PS4 games that get a performance boost. Usually you'd have to go into the graphics or display menu and choose performance. God of War on PS5 will allow you go play in 4k 60fps. Something the original ps4 couldn't do. This games can be played to PS4(some are already available lol) if the developers commit to it. The problem is, Sony is urging devs to make their games PS5 exclusives even though it can run in PS4, in order to force us to buy one. I already witnessed this when Square made the Yuffie dlc of FFVII remake available to PS5 only.

Its because they want to actually push boundaries, if a game is designed to run fine on ps4 then it isn't pushing the capabilities of the ps5, as someone who has bought a ps5 id be really pissed off if in 2 years time I was still playing games that look like a HD patch of a ps4 game. At that point what would be the point of anyone buying a ps5 in the first place? Any game that is using the full potential of the ps5 will not run (at least not well)on ps4

Overall, I am disappointed with "Sony Interactive Entertainment". While all these games are fun in their own rite, the cost of the PS5 is a bit of a smack in the face. So far, most of the games for PS5 are "new" versions of older games.

For anyone wondering about horizon forbidden west, it’s the next chapter of the story. First game horizon zero dawn leads into this. Both great games which I can vouch for. I so hate the GUI / Menus in PS5 ...it' so unintuative and really puts me off playing the console. I almost bought a PS4 Pro again after recently selling mine. I know my PS5 can play PS4 games but it's so clunky and cumbersome finding my games. I have 3 4tb drives , 2 1tb drives, the 1tb onboard Ps5 and 2Tb onboard PS5. All mostly all fully loaded with games but on PS5 I'm constantly having to go to the end of the menu icons to select game library, filter PS4 games and find the game then load it. Iit's clunky and horrible to use .... on PS4 Pro I had folders right there on the front screen for Sports games, Strategy Games, Arcade games, FPS games, I selected the folder and selected the game to load it.. boom job done. As long as I had the correct external drive attached no problem but now I've got to delve into menus and shit... such a pain in the ass. I've barely even played any PS5 games and I have quite a few but I just don't feel like playin on this console. Long Long time gamer but just not feeling this console and it definately is the menu design/layout and traversal that puts me off.

Going back to those headaches, have you tried playing around with the graphics settings? Play on performance mode to get that 60fps so the gameplay is smoother or turn off the motion blur. Motion blur does that to me sometimes.
