You and me both buddy... I had more online friends than I had in real life when I used to go to school. It was an era where people would call you a child for playing video games. Even if you were one. So anyway, that's how I became antisocial. Because of very small minded people basically. Unfortunately, I can't change my mind. Because my hate for the world is far greater than my will to socialize 😀

I can give you an overview of my way of dealing with all of these. 1. Staying in the dark too much. I take care of it by going to the library, often going out to buy the snacks, and finding every little excuse to go outside. 2. Consuming too much negative news. This is a tough one honestly. So in general I have dealt with it by deleting my social media and news related apps and websites. You can try engaging with a bit more positive content instead of the ones that arouse negativity inside of you. 3. Blasting headphones. For this one, I simply started changing what I listen to. I opt for nature sounds. blue/white noise. Alternate between what you normally listen to and nature sounds until you can get rid of loud music altogether. 4. Social Isolation. There was a point in time when I isolated myself to the point of no talking at all to anyone. I learnt my lesson the hard way but maybe you could try foraging friendships online, engaging people of similar interests and turning those internet relations to physical ones over time. 5. Too much screen time. well, this is the hardest I'd say but I get rid of it by going for walks. using snacks as an excuse to leave my devices etc. 6. Consuming sugar. Ah no, this too is the hardest one. Even I find it hard to get rid of but maybe, you could opt for natural sugars like fruits, sweet veges, sugar-free drinks and chocolate instead of things that contain refined sugars. 7. Skipping breakfast. I simply wake up early. waking up early helps because by the time it's breakfast, you are probably gonna feel the need to eat. 8. You're barely moving. Again I go with the snacks excuse to move my body. 9. Poor sleeping habits. Try sleeping in silence instead of using music as a means to sleep. turn your lights off. Eat your dinner 2 hours before sleeping. have a proper schedule. It is essential to note that these are my opinions/suggestions on how to improve your habits and are not binding. Secondly, if you don't have the will to do it, it won't happen. Lastly, everything takes time and you have to keep up the effort and... I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK!

@@lost_fables I would put more emphasis on the "taking walks" advice, as doing this literally does so much towards fixing a lot of these issues, and they're easy and enjoyable. You could even meet people on the street during a walk, and whether you want to talk to them or not, just exchanging a friendly wave will open up an entire new world for you.

But is it enough to stop these things or is it already too late and the damage is done and will just get worse with time? They probably should have covered that
@23kairal
@23kairal Жыл бұрын
@@lamiagumboif they're always keeping consistent and try their best to be positive, then it would probably be enough to stop these things. Remember that grief is not something that shrinks over time. but something that always remains the same size, and is only covered with new experiences to not make the feeling not feel much painful. for example, holding baked cookes out of the oven without mittens would be painful. but over time, you learned. you learned how to not do that. how to make good cookies. even with consistent mistakes, you try consistently. and this time, you take out the delicious baked cookies you made with mittens on. you can still feel the heat, but its tolerable. so, one may recover through consistency. remember, you dont have to be positive all the time. it's okay to be weak. but dont stay weak forever. there's always someone to pick you up. as someone who had gone through terrible experiences of mental illnesses, its safe to say that it does get better no matter how much you despair thinking about how you would never feel better/okay. 💚💚💚

One that I'm guilty of is too much screen time. I use my computer for so much... studying, relaxing, working, socializing online (I have a hell of a time doing that one in person). While I do spend a lot of time in front of my monitor, I do at least make a point of never sitting in front of it without sufficient lighting.

About two months ago, now, I was introduced to Clubhouse International. With their help, I've managed to get myself to a point where I spend two "work" days there doing various things. My clubhouse has a KZbin page, and I'm one of the people on the video crew. I also help out with cleaning, and it is the first place that I have not felt intimidated to be around people. I'm still working on getting better at talking to others, but I'm happy with these first couple steps so far.

Update on progress with this. For #1, I have succeeded in doing this for the week: - a. I get my body to regularly feel tired at 10p. This is regulating my hours. - b. The moment I feel tired, I turn off the screen and close my eyes and go to sleep. This is vs my prior habit of forcing myself to stay awake just to watch another video, which caused me to stay awake all night. - c. If I want screentime, I wake up early and give myself 30 mins of screen reading before I get ready for the day. This is based on the COMFY model of waking up. The main result of this are: 1. I get 8 hours of good sleep a night. 2. I now fall asleep and wake up consistently at regular times.

For me the most hardest one is the screen time. Screens are everywhere. For example online classes. It's so long, it can be over 5 hours. In that situations I usually read books when I finished my works. Having a book habit is really important. It's entertaining, it does not make you lazy like screen does. I guess giving a try on reading books can make you more energetic.

Could you explain in more detail, please, why social isolation would it be stressing and harmful? There are a lot of introverts out there(including myself) who actually are feeling more peaceful and much better when they are most of the time alone on their own and without other people around. I don't think social isolation is it wrong as long as you feel great about it and enjoy your own company more than people's presence.
@bartmannn6717
@bartmannn6717 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm an introvert myself, being around people is very tiring for me and I NEED my space afterwards. However, "social isolation" should be considered an extreme and unnatural state, in my opinion. Exercising tires me as well, often I don't want to do it and I have to rest a long time afterwards. But overall, I feel better as a whole. Another thing about social isolation that can be really damaging: If you are all alone by yourself, your own thoughts and opinions era unchallenged. Your brain starts to go in circles (positive feedback loop) until you start to believe in them too much, even if they are full of errors and wrong assumptions, going down further the rabbit hole. In short, you get weird, because you are disconnected from the rest of the world. Being happy with your pet doesn't count, because it will not challenge you thoughts.
@Dhalin

Speaking as an introvert and someone who is now living alone after both of my parents passed away last year, one should seek moderation in all things. Sure, it's nice to have alone time, and that's great. However, _too much_ alone time leads to depression and boredom. You want _some_ social interaction, on your terms, and on your schedule, but not too much social interaction and you want alone time after your social interactions. But yet having zero social interactions at all is unhealthy. As an introvert, I like to occasionally get to see and be around other people, but in measured quantities. Not something I wanna do day in, day out, of course not. But, I find that after 2, 3, 4 days sitting at home alone, going out and seeing a few people I know helps me feel better for a time. Of course, after a couple hours or what-not, I find myself wanting to be alone again. But I wouldn't want to just have zero social interactions at all... that'd just be way too boring and depressing.

@Akuza_Sazaki Жыл бұрын
You see, that's the problem. As I am too an introvert who lived alone (for now), less friend to talk to, not even in a relationship. Just me and Internet (my device) and part time work. At some point (almost always) I feel that I need someone to at least be by my side. Just being there, hear my story or talks, not a so pushover but still care. Sometimes, its hard to make decision or even make a right choice if there's no one there to give you advice or even reprimand your action. Yes, social avoidance is great but just be sure to have someone who is always there for you. Not like me.

#1 and #2 My mom who recently passed away was very much guilty of. She would always use blackout curtains in her room at all hours of the day and only used tiny lights. She didn't want light coming in her windows much at all, and she would constantly be scouring KZbin for news and current events relating to the Middle East and Israel. Being a devout Christian, she was always on the watch for the Rapture, and spent her last several years yearning for it, constantly trying to predict it. It was an obsession with her, and she was SO sure that she was going in the Rapture, but... she passed away before that came to pass. She had become such a bitter person, always having a negative attitude about everything. Her smoking didn't help either, and every food, every piece of furniture, every bit of clothing, everything was terrible to her. Every movie, every game sucked, and she spent the last 5 years of her life just being bitter about everything. It would cause constant arguments between her and dad, and both of them were utterly miserable. And now that they've both passed away last year, it leaves me here, alone, trying to fix this mess of a house (it was so bad that it literally almost killed our cat; he came down with FLUTD because of the constant stress and terrible living conditions). But I've learned a lot from their mistakes, and I am doing my best to not make the same mistakes they did.

I don’t agree with the morning eating. For example, middle aged women should fast 16+ hours and have an 8ish hour eating window. Fasting is good for mental and physical health in so many ways. My mind has been much clearer by skipping breakfast and lunch, and my health overall has improved drastically by fasting with intent. So perhaps that one isn’t for all :)

I must disagree, intensely, with social isolation being something habitually damaging. Of course, there is loneliness. But that is not damaging. I am doing tremendously better, in my social isolation, than any time I when I was social. I am self-reliant, truly independent, very resourceful, have far more endurance, strength, and physical fitness, am down to my clinically ideal weight, am constantly studying to be able to do everything myself because I depend on nobody, and am far more knowledgeable because of the constant studies. I could have accomplished none of this if I had continued to waste my time being social. Being social is nothing but worthless drama, a drain on time, people being cruel to each other, evil mockery if someone does something out of the status quo, and it dumbs our independent thoughts down to near nothing. I tired of how cruel people were with me and isolated. It as the best thing I ever did. Loneliness does nothing negative to us. Being social does a tremendous amount of damage to humans. It is time to forget the indoctrination that humans must be social to accomplish success, health, independence, safety, and a feeling of self worth. If anything, being social accomplishes the exact opposite.
@wimsylogic65

It depends on the person. Social isolation Can be extremely damaging to a lot of people. Because over all humans are social creatures. This advice should be taken with a grain assault of course it's not gonna be true to absolutely everybody. It's not about just feeling lonely.
@indridcold8433
@indridcold8433 Жыл бұрын
@@wimsylogic65 Of course. Most people can not live without their close social herd and the extended, overall, herd. But, those people do not do anything outside the status quo behavior and thought pattern, in order to fit on and not e mocked, nor have another herd member be cruel to them. It was extremely easy for me to abandon attempts at all interpersonal, social interactions, whether amicable or amorous. I was never accepted and had no reason to try to assimilate into the herds. The loneliness just assures me I am doing the correct thing to stay safe, self-reliant, productive, and independent. But, I realise most are too dependent on interpersonal interactions to ever be truly independent. It is likely I will never go back to attempting social connections. I have gained so much with social isolation. I have even learned written English, completely of my own efforts and resources. "Friends," were nothing but low level enemies and opportunists. I am afraid to have any, now, because of prior experiences.

@@indridcold8433 Just realize the type to text said assault Instead of , Of salt. 😁 You know I think it still works. If it's just a grain of assault then it's not a very powerful attack. Sorry my brain went elsewhere. I personally have stopped actively Trying to find or keep friends. I also no longer try to form friendships with my neighbors. Or random people. I accept just having acquaintances and not friends. I lost my closest friends during the pandemic. For the stupidest of reasons. Just because I don't agree with them. Sucked to find out that they were never really my friend the way they were mine. But lesson learned. They're loss. also Refreshing it away, really frustrated with their lack of Stimulating conversation, And constant just complaining. Instead of appreciating what they truly have and enjoying what life has to offer. I confess I'll still be there for my best friend If he needs me. He ghosted me because Of politics. I don't believe that people should be forced to be vaccinated. I have personally almost died from vaccinations as a kid. So I didnt think that they should be mandated. People are not copies of one another and what works for 1 person, may not work for another. So because I believe medical care is not one size fits all. My friend got swept up and all of it, He got taken over by hate. Didn't even realize it. He started treating me like an other. Horrifying when you see your country, Family and friends, following the Behavioral patterns, of what led to the holocaust in World War 2. And yet I'm the bad guy despite I'm the one they're attacking. I find it ironic, because my friend swears that he's all scientific, and logical. But his behavior has been nothing but emotional and irrational. And they treat me like I'm some bigoted idiot. Really makes no sense to me. So I'm happy to just stick to the wilderness. With the laws of nature make more sense. And right now nature saying prepare for a heavy, severe winter. I think people Are too easy with who they call friends and Using the word love.

And yes I usually drink the whole thing in one go, I feel great after, and for the rest of the day, breakfast always makes me feel terrible all day. Same thing with the dark vs sunlight, I DO have a hard time sleeping, but I always feel more energetic if I spend my day in the dark or at least artificial light, sunlight, on the other hand, feels like it drains me, I DO get called a vampire once in a while lol I wish, I'd love some eternal life, as long as there is a way to end it in case I start to go insane or out live life.
@spcs1

The whole sunlight thing is actually pretty interesting imo. You definitely need some sunlight because like they said, it causes your brain to produce melatonin and I believe it also helps with vitamin production at least making it more efficient. But being in the sun too much will actually cause you to feel drained. Like if you spend the day on the beach but you don't do anything, you might feel more tired than if you stayed inside and worked out or did something physically active. But it's because the sun heats you up, causing your body to work harder to keep cool and your skin also needs to be repaired after absorbing all that UV light. That's why I don't go to the beach often, I just feel all tired and sluggish for the next couple days.
