I still have his card from that year. We got him after the Giants parted ways with him and looked like a bust. I liked him then and was a guy I hoped would get the ball when he would get on the field as a substitution or to get a chance on special teams. You could tell he was a scrappy receiver that could make any team better if given the opportunity. He played in that Super Bowl against San Diego and was so well liked by their offensive coordinator that Ed went with that coordinator when hired as the new head coach in Denver. That man was Mike Shanahan and the rest was history.

William Floyd had injuries, a shortish career, and no major media accolades, but on a per-play basis, I consider him one of the greatest fullbacks to ever play the game. He always made a major impact. It’s too bad he couldn’t have played ~10 healthy seasons, because he would have put up a Hall of Fame resume.

Agreed, although I don't think the 97 and 98 versions were elite teams. 97 they lacked the game breaker on offense. By 98 the defense was too old. 95 definitely hurts 92 Dallas was the better team but sf could have beaten then had they not lost the turnover battle 4-0, and missed 1 or 2 fgs with 1 td lost to penalty. Their defense was decent in the first half. Missed opportunities indeed. Great times though.

Steve Young's 1994 Niners scored 505 points. TO put that in perspective, the Cowboys of 1992 #2 offense scored 373. Cowboys only allowed 14 points a game so of course they won it all in 92. The 98 Vikings blew the doors off the league with 556 points, then Randy Moss went on to break a record he had a large role in with the 2007 with 589 points. But that's not quite a new normal, The highest scoring offense of 2017 is only 478 points. Steve Young is fucking awesome, and yet all I heard in the 90's was how much he sucks. A LOT of out of market bandwagon niners fans jumped off saying he's no Joe Montana.

Yup. I was born in 1992. This was the first year (that I can actually recall - I was 2 years old in 1994) where the Bears were in as anything other than division champs. They won the division in 01, 05, 06, 10, and 18. One and done in the years they would have had to go on the road afterwards. In the years they advanced, they always hosted (or played neutrally in SB XLI). They backed in this year as a wild card and went to New Orleans. In 2011, they were a shoe-in to make it as the NFC's top wild card. GB was undefeated and the Bears were 7-3. Winners of 5 straight and playing great with an easy upcoming schedule. Then, Cutler and Matt Forte went down with season ending injuries. They went on to lose 5 in a row before finishing 8-8 and missing out. Just an odd series of coincidences that led to them never going on the road in the playoffs.

1:09:16 someone already commented about this is where Brent Jones made the comment about messing with our ring. You don't mess with the person that got you where you are. So if someone cheap shots your quarterback, you go kick his ass no matter what. If Shaun Gayle hurt Young at that play and Young couldn't play or his performance was reduced to that hit then guess who's fault that would have been. So again as a teammate you automatically are going to fight that player who is again messing with your golden goose.

21:40 was a great play design. His 1st read was who he targeted and the RB was a second option if the end rushed. But the RB was able to keep him away by running a route which left the Bears QB WIDE open to set his feet. The coverage basically fell to man and had the QB taken 2 seconds to set his feet, that would've been a guaranteed TD.

1:09:19 and this is partly why this team won it all .. teams that stick together like this are usually very dangerous and formidable.. reminds me the steelers when I forgot his name threw bradshaw to the ground and a steeler came over and confronted the guy .. exact same scenario as this except the steeler play wasn't a td play though

as a 49er fan....I do believe anything can happen in the playoffs, what ever u done in the regular season. gets tossed out the window. and u should never ever your take other team lighty and always play hard no matter what.....bt in this game......the 49ers won this game before the game got started...b/c i believe steve young needed to prove that can help a team win a super bowl and the rest of the players fed off of that...

Unarguably the 1994 49ers were the most talented team ever assembled. What team had as many future HOF and pro bowl players? Why Watters and Sanders left is beyond me. That team wins 3 or 4 Super Bowls in a row easy.

97 49ers were loaded too, (Kevin Greene, Rod Woodson) but team got forgotten cos lost to the packers and the playoffs. It was the year Rice got injured and TO started to emerge. However, the 94 team was bit better thansk to Watters. HIs absense was never replaced.

The bears literally had no chance against this incredible niners squad. This niners team had one of the greatest offenses this league has ever seen and were really good on defense too. They averaged 44 ppg in the playoffs 🔥 Over their finals 13 games of year including the 3 postseason games they averaged an astounding 37.5ppg 😂 This was the BEST 49ers team overall. Forget the record not being as good as the 89 or 84 teams. This team was more talented on both ends especially offensively

Imagine Rice having 44 yds and Young with only 1 TD pass with 143 yards passing. That 49ers defense got William Floyd 3 wrecking ball TDs and kept giving Young & co great field position to where their punter only punted TWICE all game.

That's why you as a teammate have to go and kick the guy's ass because if Young got hurt and couldn't play against the Cowboys guess who would be blamed for that. So you as the teammate do whatever is necessary to protect your asset especially your quarterback.
