I still have his card from that year. We got him after the Giants parted ways with him and looked like a bust. I liked him then and was a guy I hoped would get the ball when he would get on the field as a substitution or to get a chance on special teams. You could tell he was a scrappy receiver that could make any team better if given the opportunity. He played in that Super Bowl against San Diego and was so well liked by their offensive coordinator that Ed went with that coordinator when hired as the new head coach in Denver. That man was Mike Shanahan and the rest was history.

Steve Young's 1994 Niners scored 505 points. TO put that in perspective, the Cowboys of 1992 #2 offense scored 373. Cowboys only allowed 14 points a game so of course they won it all in 92. The 98 Vikings blew the doors off the league with 556 points, then Randy Moss went on to break a record he had a large role in with the 2007 with 589 points. But that's not quite a new normal, The highest scoring offense of 2017 is only 478 points. Steve Young is fucking awesome, and yet all I heard in the 90's was how much he sucks. Yup. I was born in 1992. This was the first year (that I can actually recall - I was 2 years old in 1994) where the Bears were in as anything other than division champs. They won the division in 01, 05, 06, 10, and 18. One and done in the years they would have had to go on the road afterwards. In the years they advanced, they always hosted (or played neutrally in SB XLI). They backed in this year as a wild card and went to New Orleans. In 2011, they were a shoe-in to make it as the NFC's top wild card. GB was undefeated and the Bears were 7-3. Winners of 5 straight and playing great with an easy upcoming schedule. Then, Cutler and Matt Forte went down with season ending injuries. They went on to lose 5 in a row before finishing 8-8 and missing out. Just an odd series of coincidences that led to them never going on the road in the playoffs.

Three times in 11 seasons the 49ers beat the Bears 🐻 in the playoffs, pretty badly. All three times, the Niners went on to win the Super Bowl. The Bears are my backup team. That's no fun.

This Bears team was a try hard team, not nearly as talented with some Ditka holdovers.

Spellman put a HIT on Young 57:04-50 i felt that one... no roughing the passer... FREE SHOT Id love it if real hitting came back to the NFL 58:10 perfect CALL A TIME OUT........... hahaha 1:09:07 Young TD....... takes cheap shot.. spikes the ball at the defender.. Rice comes in along with the whole team

All the 49ers and Steve Young could think about was beating Dallas they were a machine! I doubt that the Chargers knew what hit them

The bears literally had no chance against this incredible niners squad. This niners team had one of the greatest offenses this league has ever seen and were really good on defense too. They averaged 44 ppg in the playoffs 🔥 Over their finals 13 games of year including the 3 postseason games they averaged an astounding 37.5ppg 😂 This was the BEST 49ers team overall. Forget the record not being as good as the 89 or 84 teams. This team was more talented on both ends especially offensively

Imagine Rice having 44 yds and Young with only 1 TD pass with 143 yards passing. That 49ers defense got William Floyd 3 wrecking ball TDs and kept giving Young & co great field position to where their punter only punted TWICE all game.

That was a cheap shot!

That's why you as a teammate have to go and kick the guy's ass because if Young got hurt and couldn't play against the Cowboys guess who would be blamed for that. So you as the teammate do whatever is necessary to protect your asset especially your quarterback.

@VegTheory LOL at sliding. It was a late hit. A slide wouldn't have done anything.
