Mazda has also told some outlets that it comes down to search engine optimization. Basically, the CX-90 is grouped as a three-row when it comes to online searches. By making the CX-70 a separate name plate, it gets included in searches for two-rows in a way that a trim of the CX-90 would not.

On another note… Just today, I went out to walk my dog (my neighbourhood) and ran into an older gentleman/neighbour/friend who just bought a 1992 Jaguar XJS in absolutely showroom condition (58,000 kms!). It was absolutely breathtaking, especially the leather and the wired rims. We chatted for about 45 minutes while sipping on coffee. What a character, what a brilliant motorcar! I continued my walk and came across another neighbour who just took out his F430 cabriolet in some captivating steel grey. And after yet another car chat…I continued my walk to walk my Cocker Spaniel for another half hour or so before returning. Incredible day. MORAL? Over here in the UK it’s only £900 per year for an extended warranty on a Macan. The chief engineer said the engines are bullet proof so did not take an extended warranty out. In year 4 my Macan’s sound system went wrong and ironically cost £900 to replace which Porsche contributed 1/3 of the costs as a gesture of good will. Apparently, the most common fault is the transmission tunnel which is under warranty for 7 years here. So would not bother taking out an extended warranty on the GTS. Best Clive

Regarding the first part about extended warranties. I usually buy them on my cars. My last car was a 2012 Kia Rio5. I paid $2200 for a 10 year warranty. In the last 2 years of ownership, I got about $7k worth of repairs covered with it. When I replaced with a 2021 Toyota Venza, I added the 10 year warranty for $2500, not because I expect a lot of issues, but for budget purposes. It's about $30 more per month on my payment, but now I'm covered for 10 years so it gives piece of mind.

Usually i can fix it or find someone who works on that brand and like do the work at alot less money and is more upfront but the whole what has to be replace. Alot of good youtube video for mechanic who can offer advise to the problems. From knowledge from mechanic they don't get paid a full rate for warranty problem usaually only 60% of the going rate. Zack is right on the track how you "self insure" - but not the $5000, you put away $10,000 and let it sit in an investment doing its job. Interesting on my Elantra I asked if the iVT is repairable or swapped out - so servos and modules very commonly a remedy but they swap them out with factory done ones as they do have running changes - so went against my "rule" and added the 8 year complete one.

Regarding the transmissions from Porche Macan... you MUST do a transmission oil service,all the differentials regularly (ask an VW/Audi/Porsche tech for it's interval and it doesn't matter what transmission manufacturer it is) and NOT believe the "lifetime" term - especially if you don't want to pay that extended warranty and want to keep it's drivetrain them from failing.

For the family of 4 with a dog looking for BEV/PHEV I would suggest to take a look at Tesla Model Y base trim. Depending on the province you can get a decent rebate and it can be pretty close to 45k (before the tax) price point. For example, in New Brunswick (Canada) it is 5k federal + 5k provincial discount after the tax which is about 8.7k discount before tax. Tesla Model Y RWD is 54k, so it price is ~45.3k after EV discounts. It is a really good deal for such a high tech, roomy and powerful vehicle. And delivery is really fast (there is no a year long queue). 19:07

Here are a few takes on service contracts and assumes the vehicle is still covered by the OEM factory warranty. First. Prices are negotiable if you know how. Shop multiple dealers for the dealer's best quote! Don't be discouraged when the F&I Manager won't budge. Like the old Supertramp song goes, "Some they will and some they won't!" Second. Don't buy any third party service contract. Buy OEM or don't buy at all. Third. Determine your needs. Extending the time costs next to nothing but extending the mileage does. If you're going to be a long time owner but a low annual mileage driver, ask about a corresponding service contract. Fourth. Don't wait until after the original OEM factory warranty has expired. The cost for the service contract will jump a great deal or may not be available at all.

Andrea's note on the seats is a good one though...if you have a second row captain's chairs, you end up with an awfully big 4 seater when you put the third row seats down.

My bet is that warranty price is negotiable and you could get the 2 years extra for half of $5K ($2-2.5K. The dealers can charge whatever they want over the manufacturer's retail price. There is no Maroney sticker on the warranty. Ask the dealer to show you the manufacturer's retail price brochure.
@H2SO4H205 ай бұрын
Don't you mean "wholesale price" instead of "retail price"? Auto dealers can usually charge whatever they want at or above the wholesale price (and less than the retail price if they want to) for an extended warranty unless there's an agreement with the warranty underwriter that attempts to restrict discounts. I'm retired from a large provider of service warranties sold through auto dealers. I could and still can buy extended warranties at wholesale from my former employer but have never because they are usually not cost effective. However, I'm considering buying an extended warranty for the very first time only because it would be on a Porsche Cayenne that is currently at 18,000 miles / 21 months old. Just one fairly common problem - failure of an inexpensive seal in the vacuum controlled water pump - has recently cost others as much as US$9,000 to repair since the repair entails replacing the entire vacuum system which has become contaminated by coolant. Porsches are fun vehicles but it is as if they were engineered by Rube Goldberg. 😒
@ctclardy5 ай бұрын
@@H2SO4H20 No, I mean the manufacturer's actual retail price. The dealership is not going to sell you the warranty at wholesale, or even slightly above, maybe several hundred over wholesale. More than likely the price quoted to the customer is thousands more than the actual retail price from the manufacturer. If you could purchase the warranty for the manufacturer's retail price it might be worth the investment (according to the vehicle) but, thousands over the retail is nothing but a rip-off. Third-party warranties are sometimes very suspect and they must be reviewed carefully to see what they cover and how easy it is to make a claim if you break down out of your area. I was in the retail automotive industry for over 20 years and was a finance/lease/insurance manager for over 8 of those years. I sold all those products.
@H2SO4H205 ай бұрын
@@ctclardy Virtually all extended warranties are 3rd party. Even auto maker branded extended warranties are underwritten by 3rd parties. I don't know where you were selling but it's been common for F&I guys to sell extended warranties heavily discounted below retail and even sometimes at dealer remit. Don't tell me now this works since the company I retired from is the leading supplier of extended service warranties in both the U.S. and Canada selling warranties under many brand names. You may have had experience at one or two stores but I know how it works at thousands of stores.

Just remember this basic fact... Extended warranties on average make money for the seller and are therefore a loss for the buyer of the warranty. I would only consider an extended warranty if you drive way over the average miles/year (say 20,000 miles/year, and make sure that the warranty covers that high mileage) and you know for certain you'll own the car for the period of the warranty. On average, over time, you'll lose money on extended warranties.

Mazda shuffled their line up to the point that is making you scratching your head. Their top trim would be the Signature however I have not seen a PHEV in this trim , only in MHEV. Even if you go to their configurator the PHEV goes only as far as the GT There is no Signature on either 90 or 70.

To be fair, Mazda should have made the CX-70 just marginally bigger than the CX-60.

CX-70 about 190" 195" long with two rows seating would be at the top of my list. Similar to Jeep GC and even the GV80. NO WAY would I buy a three row and fold down the third row, leaving an open space to the captain chairs. Looks like hell and luggage moving everywhere. I most likely will pass on Mazda as really had thought the new CX70 would be for me. Just too long and not even sportback styling. Oh well moving on to Genesis and Audi!

Yes. Mazda is just being ridiculously stupid about CX70 and the lack of bench seat on top trim CX90.

You buy a cx90… rent a cx70.. and swap the rear seats out .. maybe they won’t notice

6:28 love your analysis of the CX-70. Just be mindful the term "gyped" can be a slur for the Roma community 🙂

I wouldn’t buy a 7 year old Hybrid Highlander. Three years left on the battery warranty. I bought a 2024 Highlander Limited gas turbo. That’s one reason. The other, my gas turbo blows away my traded Venza hybrid for driving enjoyment. Hybrids are not made for active drivers. You save gas but as a friend once told me, “You pay for the ride. “ Finally, as a low mileage driver, buying gas at Costco for $ 3.00 per gallon, and with a $ 3700 discount on my gas turbo, it would take me 18 years to break even on gas savings. Don’t become a victim of false savings.

There are Toyota hybrids used as cabs with over a million miles on them, your friend is wrong.
