How To Diagnose a Cylinder Misfire: 1959 Willys Jeep

This time at the Quick Speed Shop I busted my 1959 Willys Jeep out of storage and it was missing on one cylinder. Follow along as I try to track down the problem and see if I can fix it.

Pull the plug on missing cylinder replace with another one,if you dont have one right now,just swap plugs with another cylinder if it follows to that cylinder with the suspected plug you have found the problem,if it doesnt make any difference it may be plug wire or something wrong with the cap for that cylinder,some new parts you get today is bad right out of box!Have a 56 truck I learned to drive on,right now its down to the frame and 226 is in pieces,hopefully in a few years it will be running again,nice looking truck!

I need to check the compression and go from there. The plugs, cap, rotor, points, coil and battery are all brand new.

I just had the same thing happen with an almost new Champion plug in my 66 mustang. The plug looked ok too.

I had never had it happen before, but I'm glad it was something simple and not a stuck valve or anything like that!

I've had two sets of ngk plus die in 500 miles on my 62 Willys wagon I put in a set of AC Delco plug this will be the 3rd winter on them

what engine is that and what years were they made as well as hp? ---glad she is on all 6 now!

Its the Super Hurricane 6. 226 cu in, 115 hp.

jeeps in general don't seem to like NGK even the newer Cherokees
