Just a heads up about the "tear down my barn" post. Reclaimed wood from old barns is actually a highly desirable item, and it usually sells for $4 - $7 per foot. What OP offered is actually a few thousand dollars worth of compensation. So to the right person, that's actually an awesome deal.

It was actually an old barn, and reclaimed barnwood sells for up to $7 per foot. If you took your time, and carefully disassembled the barn, you could sell that wood for a few thousand dollars.

@@katieuhlendorf8716 no, you really can't. Barn salvage requires finesse and patience. Neither of which are words used to describe a mallet. Pry bars, nail pullers, and reciprocating saws are the most commonly used tools in that particular job, as the point is to disassemble the barn without damaging the wood. Smacking a board with a mallet will, at the very least, put huge indentations in the wood, which ruin the surface of the board. At worst, you break the boards, which is the exact opposite of the concept of salvaging. Floors made from these boards can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars. One barn can potentially refloor two houses, sometimes more. That's literally the full cost of a car or small down-payment on a house that you're talking about destroying with a tantrum. Salvage the barn and pay for therapy.

You'd be surprised though when it comes to how bored some retired people are. The hospital in my town is full of full-time volunteers, and the majority of them are over 60 years of age. Doesn't make it right though, that woman with the salon is looking to exploit for free labor. Somewhere like the hospital is time much better spent

9:20. As someone who's been in the furry fandom for 3 years (as of March 2022), that's not my first sight of people asking for as much free art as they want. And that's stressful for the artist, they have bills and debt to pay too, and rely on commission money to pay them. They usually make more than £100 a year from paid commissions, so if I were the CB, I'd ask what they make in a whole 2-3 years, and pay them that amount of money for just a year, and only ask for one art piece every month or so.

They wanted at least one drawing of each of their ocs (I think it was 350+ pieces??) and all in less than a year. What was the payment? A fursuit head. Don't get me wrong, I really want a suit, but if I'm charging £10 per piece, I could buy a full suit, and I wouldn't have the stress of the time limit either

They are "merely" using DoorDash (and similar apps) as the means to find requests which they then fulfill as independent agents (albeit independent agents on a contract). As a person with animation as a hobby 10$ would give you very simple art with very little movement and very short animation. I've seen artists who charge more for flat color simple image, not animation just image. That also depends what kind of animation it is since moving simple circle across the screen can take more or less time. In specific type of animation I'm doing 10$ would give you very simple shapes with very basic movements since it takes almost no time to do it

The person that tears down that barn is going to leave with several thousand dollars worth of wood that is highly desirable and in high demand. Look up images of "reclaimed barnwood floors", they're gorgeous. That barn is a veritable gold mine.

Hoo boy, reminds me with my own lecturer at uni suspiciously praising a lot about my art, and a month later he persuaded me to draw him for free. I politely refused because I'm still learning and at least a commission will help me to draw better. He just said "then I'll wait for you learn better art and then draw me for free later". Reclaimed barnwood sells for up to $7 per foot. A smart person would take their time disassembling the barn, and sell the literal thousands of dollars worth of wood. I recently made a picnic table for a client out of wood from the wood of a 120 year old house. He payed $2000 for it, and didn't bat an eye at the price. That should give you an idea of how much that barn is worth.

Hi there, I DoorDash for extra cash. What DoorDash does is if you leave a 20% tip or more, they don’t pay driver’s the delivery fee, only the tip you left them. If you tip or don’t tip, either way we make the same amount. Even if you tip less than 20%, whatever you tip, DoorDash takes away from the delivery fee we’d make off that order. I understand the frustration that dasher felt, but that doesn’t excuse them from being angry at the person who ordered for something that wasn’t even the person ordering’s fault

25 minutes of animation, for $10?? seriously??? if you don't realize how absurdly that is for any someone decent animation just compare it to minimum wage. which, according to the US Department of Labor, is $7.25 per hour. $10 equates to just an hour and 21 minutes of minimum wage, meaning the artist would have less than 4 minutes to create just 1 minute of animation. Furthermore, that is compared to just the MINIMUM wage of a likely UNTRAINED EMPLOYEE, rather than a freelance artists purchasing all supplies for the business, having years of practice to produce animation, whilst trying to pay their own bills. it would probably cost more in power, food, wifi, and any heating or cooling systems per hour than what the artist would be payed. some people...
