When I told my partner shortly after, he wasn't really aware that he had done something wrong besides me bleeding after. He felt really bad, which is a normal reaction to hurting your partner. The fact that a man nearly twice her age was trying to say that she wasn't good and needed to "stop being shy because she's not a v!rg!n anymore" is such a twisted, manipulative, and controlling dynamic! He's watched too much pron if he thinks that after one awkward attempt that she's suddenly going to change into a pron star and is INSANE. Using wording like that she should've "grown out of it", and "step in" to make her "cut back", and him getting to decide how she spends her time because her life is under his control, and giving her a punishment for not doing her girlfriend homework or something. Everything about how he talks about her gives me the ick big time. So patronizing. Also, if you know anything about the Sims, then you'd know that deleting a long running game would only make you spend MORE time playing it because you'd have to totally restart every painfully long step of progression over again. Like, what is the absurd thought process that he should delete it, and then she can just make it again??? Like, spend even more time to make it again???? When she wouldn't have had to do that if he didn't delete it???? Hunh?????????
@Respectable_Username7 ай бұрын
Even a parent deleting their child's save file is disgusting enough I wouldn't disagree with anyone who called it abuse. Breaking another person's stuff, regardless of your relationship to them, is simply dehumanising. Punishing somebody by breaking their stuff is almost _never_ a proportional response. You are taking away something that matters to them, forever. You are deleting a part of their life. To the individual, it's like having a pet die, even if the thing itself was never technically alive to begin with. Of course, this is not including situations where said stuff is actively hazardous to the health of the individual or those around them. But even then, it's better to have a discussion first unless somebody is in immediate danger. _Especially_ if the thing they care about is putting their own health in danger, as for example just destroying a source of addiction can lead to withdrawal that's more hazardous than the addiction itself, so you need a plan to slowly back it off. TL;DR: People who do that are disgusting _regardless_ of their relationship to the victim! And yes I'm sure you OP and anyone reads this knows it too. But yeah, even just the suggestion (even if a suggestion of the dickhead's thought processes rather than your own) that it would be somehow more appropriate if it came from a parent just triggers something in me, as somebody whose parents _didn't_ respect my autonomy to like stuff and think certain stuff was important that was different to _their_ definitions of what one should like and consider important. Their continued failure to grasp this concept last time I gave them a chance is why we're still not on speaking terms. It really messes with you when you don't feel you have any ultimate control over your time, space, and stuff.

@GretchZ7 ай бұрын
A question I doubt I will ever have the answer to: Why does this process take years for 2 straight people? It’s a stereotype for 2 women to move in together basically instantly, but I married my wife of 6.5 years 3 months after we met, and the process was the above. Is it the BS we see in these videos of treating the other gender like alien beings? Is that what society has done to straight people that “do I like you enough to make a life together?” takes so long? Is it all the centuries where marriage was more of a transaction? The whole “women don’t need a man anymore, so the social systems of the past don’t work” thing? My wife slipped into my DMs, and after a few weeks of messaging I said “Yes.” Then we met twice and I cancelled a move and plans to start a business, because she couldn’t go with me and I couldn’t go without her.

@GretchZ So my perspective, as a bisexual (M) in a heterosexual relationship of a year with a woman (also bisexual) I plan to marry: -I only plan to get married once. If I'm committing to someone, I want to make absolutely sure we're compatible on pretty much all fronts. World views, thoughts on kids, life goals, etc. A lot of that stuff doesn't come out until after a few months at least. I do agree that most of my straight friends tend to see other genders as alien beings however; men in particular are socialized to not share emotions nearly as much as women, inevitably leading to resentment and conflict, for example. -I also want to have lived with the person for a while. As someone whose family is somewhat disfuncrional in terms of everyone working equally to maintain a household, this is important to me. -Sometimes you're not at the right chapter of your life. I'm working on a PhD right now and we want to save up a nest egg by living with our parents before buying a cottage in the woods somewhere, so marriage will have to wait a few years for us. For me at least, it's mainly point 3. We keep no secrets, work to support and better each other, and genuinely just enjoy hanging out and gawking over our cats. She's my best friend :)
@lampylightbulb7 ай бұрын
@@JohnSmith-bb7vongl I hear a lot of good marriages are equal parts marriage and 'we're best friends'. I find it kind of great. Especially if you have be best friends with them for a while. I think the reason for this is my parents were best friends before they married, and then after covid they got a lot of introspection that led to them realizing that 1, my mom didn't get enough time to figure herself out in life, to develop as a person. Both of them agreed this was the case, and with the strain of covid that was starting to show, marrying young can indeed have pretty big consequences if you just jump into it right off the bat. 2, they realized that their friendship wasore important then their marriage. So they split up and verbally agreed to divorce, but, they're still really good friends. This happened when I was 17, my older sister was 20, and my younger brother was 16. It was hardest on my brother, but me and my sister took it pretty well after coming to terms. The biggest thing that made this smooth is that, like I said before, they stayed good friends, and remain so to this day. That's how I learned that it's important to end a marriage before you loose a friend. Marriage isn't the be all end all, and it doesn't only have to end on a bad note after a bad fallout of ill-planned-out decisions 20 years ago. Catch the problems before they spread to every aspect of your life. My parents overall had a good marriage, thanks to my dad my mom became a very open-minded, understanding person. But with how young she got married, my father had taken up a massive part of her life, a part most people use to adjust to a world beyond their families/school/college. She needed to catch up on time she missed and, unfortunately couldn't do so with my father. Friendships definitely help marriages, during and after them. Marriage doesn't mean a friendship has ended and something else has begun, it sticks with you, and if you play your cards right it's something you can fall back on if the marriage had some technical difficulties. Sorry for the info dump, I'm just happy for ya, made me reminisce. I hope it goes well for you two, gawking at cats sounds like an amazing pass time to bond over XD

I don't know what happened to her, but I know she at least lived long enough to fight for her life at the hospital. I'd rather die by bear than that.(And yes. That is a veeery extreme case, and just original scenario I'd choose bear since I still have faith in men in general. But imagine all the women who've already suffered assault or near enough? @@alisemaleneohme4666 I agree the outcomes are definitely more unpredictable with a man, but the worst case scenario with a bear seems much more likely than the worst case scenario with a man (even though the latter one would of course be worse). Samantha Lux actually did a video about the 'Man vs Bear' trend recently. The original creator of the hypothetical... didn't even pose it as a hypothetical. All he said was "If a woman was in the forest alone, she'd be more scared to see a man than if she saw a bear". The tiktok went viral, a lot of men got really butthurt about what he said, and lots of people made tiktoks about it as a 'would you rather' situation. While women often would pick the bear, the emergence of a hypothetical allowed men the chance to twist it around and sprinkle in some good old fashioned ✨misogyny✨ into it.
@trishapellis7 ай бұрын
Well in a sense this isn't twisting, it's evidence. One single person - a man, to be precise - made a very general statement about women. Now it's very possible that this particular man had a lot of contact with women and knew what he was talking about concerning the women he knew, but in the grand scheme of things, one can say that this is still a very small sample size. So the "would you rather" thing that happened next, if it had been done in good faith, would have been just... providing evidence to prove or disprove the hypothetical. I say "if it had been done in good faith" because you just *know* a good number of those tiktokers etc staged and/or edited stuff to make it look like one answer was predominant by a large margin, or even the only answer they received at all, even if that may not have been the case. After all, they aren't scientists... they just need those juicy, juicy views, and this was perfect fodder for ragebait. In the end, if the original tiktok was all there was to it, the toxic men would've been able to just ignore it based on the fact that it was one guy saying this thing and it was probably ragebait anyway (I'm not saying that the original tiktok was ragebait, but the toxic men could have made themselves believe that to avoid introspection). But with so many women agreeing that they would, indeed, pick the bear, the toxic dudebros couldn't ignore this or make one bad kitchen joke about it and move on with their lives. Now that there was proof, it had become important. They started feeling the need to twist the debate in their favor because it became big enough that they felt threatened by it. That's what I think happened, anyway.

I think if you *genuinely* asked that question and mean it completely literally, just the risk of encountering one average male hiker vs one average brown bear on an average trail, then any woman who picks the bear has probably never left the city nor actually seen any mammal larger than a dog and judges the species bear based on the movie Paddington. The idea that wild animals are a petting zoo is actually a completely unrelated phenomenon.

Also, it was based on the statistic that 1 in 3 women will be attacked by a man in her lifetime, whereas actually being attacked by a bear while hiking is exponentially less common. I think people need to consider that while men aren't inherently bad, there is no way that the "vast majority" of men are safe to be around alone when you look at a statistic like that. People who say things like "any woman who picks the bear..." are forgetting that 1 out of 3 of us have already experienced what an "average male" can do.

Also he knew what he was doing the whole time as the gf talked about it a lot, and after seeing how upset they were, took out the hard drive that had the rest saved and smashed it with a hammer in front of the gf. 18:39 THIS is why some guys purposefully target 20yo women. They want the control, they want someone who doesn't have enough experience to know that they are pieces of shit. Women often choose an older man for their first time because they are expecting an experienced mentor instead of a scrawny dude who goes at it "hammer and tongs" and is gone in 60 Seconds. Although there are older people who _can_ do this and will go out of their way to make it a wonderful experience, sadly they are in the minority. (True for both sexes in both roles.) Of course our films and TV shows almost entirly show the idealized older person who gently "initiates" the younger person and we develop unrealistic expectations.

I've got a file of a 5+ gen family and if someone deleted that I legitimately wouldn't speak to them again.

I wouldn't reconsider, I would just break up on the spot. That guy belongs in "Am I the ex" more than AITA.

If anyone did that to me he would not be a 'loved one' anymore. Since he deleted it he not only broke boundaries, destroyed her property and showed he can't communicate but also he determined by some of his faulty logic she does not know how to spend her time and he should decide for her and he effectively made all that time spent on the game lost. - so that shows he didn't value her time at all.
