Classes were 3 hrs long, and we had to spend twice as much time outside class as in just to pass, not even do well! I have fibromyalgia and needed to rest outside all that studio time and this, plus his demands for s*x when I wasn't feeling up to it was too much. Fun fact! Never understood how men squares the differences inerit with infantelization of women, then go "if she's old enough for puberty she's old enough for..." 🙄 Also, yes boys are forced to grow up fast to a degree regarding responsibilites and such, but the "boys will be boys" mentality that's still popular negates quite a bit of that imo

@@tinaday189 Yeah, I was thinking specifically about how there seems to be so much emphasis on "becomming a man" in media, and that this makes me a bit uncomfortable for a bunch of reasons. Or in real life, when a boy is grieving or just sad about something and then they're told to "be a man and toughen up" or something. But there, of course, is the aspect of letting boys and men get away with more immature or recless stuff because they're "men" and there are definetly a lot of girls and women who had to grow up super quickly as well. Yep. At my high school athletes wore their uniforms to school the day of games (and by athletes I mean the ones the school actually cared about, so football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, and cheerleaders because they were at those games, sorry swimmers and everyone else). The cheerleaders couldn't even wear their warmup jackets and pants because they violated dress code and had to get team T-shirts instead. For a sport like swimming it makes sense you aren't spending all day in a swimsuit, but ugh.

The 20 yr old whose 35 yr old bf gave her the list after their first time was absolutely disgusting. Her supposedly "ruining the mood" and him telling her not to listen to her body because he might go soft? Yeah, that's relationship gRape, and trust me that even once, regardless of age, can really mess up a person! I had it happen a few yrs ago, mid 30s, and I didn't realize how much it affected me until I was messaging my bff about it because I couldn't kick that uncomfortable feeling, and I started just violently sobbing. When I told my partner shortly after, he wasn't really aware that he had done something wrong besides me bleeding after. He felt really bad, which is a normal reaction to hurting your partner. The fact that a man nearly twice her age was trying to say that she wasn't good and needed to "stop being shy because she's not a v!rg!n anymore" is such a twisted, manipulative, and controlling dynamic! He's watched too much pron if he thinks that after one awkward attempt that she's suddenly going to change into a pron star and is INSANE. I'm suspecting that his "experience" may all be one sided and involves a screen, if you know what I mean. I really hope that she is out of that relationship and safe. It breaks my heart to hear about women being abused by their partners and just thinking that it's normal. That is so sad.

My mom does warn me to use either a specific pajama or to cover myself with a robe, not because the family member (or acquaintance albeit that's a different social circle, I admit) is a danger or something but simply out of respect and decency, so not having a teen or grown woman in a summer pajamas which will probably have some revealing parts I would say is fine. BUT that's it. I do this out of self awareness of course but also because a stranger doesn't need to be creeped out or weirded out by another stranger during their work. Because it's weird seeing a grown up or teen in pajamas let's be honest. Otherwise, do whatever you wish dear humans, if it's in your house, your rules.

The guy who deleted the Sims save file is soooo creepy. Like, does he think he's his girlfriend's father or something? Using wording like that she should've "grown out of it", and "step in" to make her "cut back", and him getting to decide how she spends her time because her life is under his control, and giving her a punishment for not doing her girlfriend homework or something. Everything about how he talks about her gives me the ick big time. So patronizing. Also, if you know anything about the Sims, then you'd know that deleting a long running game would only make you spend MORE time playing it because you'd have to totally restart every painfully long step of progression over again. Like, what is the absurd thought process that he should delete it, and then she can just make it again??? Like, spend even more time to make it again???? When she wouldn't have had to do that if he didn't delete it???? Hunh?????????
@Respectable_Username
@Respectable_Username 7 ай бұрын
Even a parent deleting their child's save file is disgusting enough I wouldn't disagree with anyone who called it abuse. Breaking another person's stuff, regardless of your relationship to them, is simply dehumanising. Punishing somebody by breaking their stuff is almost _never_ a proportional response. You are taking away something that matters to them, forever. You are deleting a part of their life. To the individual, it's like having a pet die, even if the thing itself was never technically alive to begin with. Of course, this is not including situations where said stuff is actively hazardous to the health of the individual or those around them. But even then, it's better to have a discussion first unless somebody is in immediate danger. _Especially_ if the thing they care about is putting their own health in danger, as for example just destroying a source of addiction can lead to withdrawal that's more hazardous than the addiction itself, so you need a plan to slowly back it off. TL;DR: People who do that are disgusting _regardless_ of their relationship to the victim! And yes I'm sure you OP and anyone reads this knows it too. But yeah, even just the suggestion (even if a suggestion of the dickhead's thought processes rather than your own) that it would be somehow more appropriate if it came from a parent just triggers something in me, as somebody whose parents _didn't_ respect my autonomy to like stuff and think certain stuff was important that was different to _their_ definitions of what one should like and consider important. Their continued failure to grasp this concept last time I gave them a chance is why we're still not on speaking terms. It really messes with you when you don't feel you have any ultimate control over your time, space, and stuff.

A question I doubt I will ever have the answer to: Why does this process take years for 2 straight people? It’s a stereotype for 2 women to move in together basically instantly, but I married my wife of 6.5 years 3 months after we met, and the process was the above. Is it the BS we see in these videos of treating the other gender like alien beings? Is that what society has done to straight people that “do I like you enough to make a life together?” takes so long? Is it all the centuries where marriage was more of a transaction? The whole “women don’t need a man anymore, so the social systems of the past don’t work” thing? My wife slipped into my DMs, and after a few weeks of messaging I said “Yes.” Then we met twice and I cancelled a move and plans to start a business, because she couldn’t go with me and I couldn’t go without her.

@GretchZ So my perspective, as a bisexual (M) in a heterosexual relationship of a year with a woman (also bisexual) I plan to marry: -I only plan to get married once. If I'm committing to someone, I want to make absolutely sure we're compatible on pretty much all fronts. World views, thoughts on kids, life goals, etc. A lot of that stuff doesn't come out until after a few months at least. I do agree that most of my straight friends tend to see other genders as alien beings however; men in particular are socialized to not share emotions nearly as much as women, inevitably leading to resentment and conflict, for example. -I also want to have lived with the person for a while. As someone whose family is somewhat disfuncrional in terms of everyone working equally to maintain a household, this is important to me. -Sometimes you're not at the right chapter of your life. I'm working on a PhD right now and we want to save up a nest egg by living with our parents before buying a cottage in the woods somewhere, so marriage will have to wait a few years for us. For me at least, it's mainly point 3. We keep no secrets, work to support and better each other, and genuinely just enjoy hanging out and gawking over our cats. She's my best friend :)

@@JohnSmith-bb7vongl I hear a lot of good marriages are equal parts marriage and 'we're best friends'. I find it kind of great. Especially if you have be best friends with them for a while. I think the reason for this is my parents were best friends before they married, and then after covid they got a lot of introspection that led to them realizing that 1, my mom didn't get enough time to figure herself out in life, to develop as a person. Both of them agreed this was the case, and with the strain of covid that was starting to show, marrying young can indeed have pretty big consequences if you just jump into it right off the bat. 2, they realized that their friendship wasore important then their marriage. So they split up and verbally agreed to divorce, but, they're still really good friends. This happened when I was 17, my older sister was 20, and my younger brother was 16. It was hardest on my brother, but me and my sister took it pretty well after coming to terms. The biggest thing that made this smooth is that, like I said before, they stayed good friends, and remain so to this day. That's how I learned that it's important to end a marriage before you loose a friend. Marriage isn't the be all end all, and it doesn't only have to end on a bad note after a bad fallout of ill-planned-out decisions 20 years ago. Catch the problems before they spread to every aspect of your life. My parents overall had a good marriage, thanks to my dad my mom became a very open-minded, understanding person. But with how young she got married, my father had taken up a massive part of her life, a part most people use to adjust to a world beyond their families/school/college. She needed to catch up on time she missed and, unfortunately couldn't do so with my father. Friendships definitely help marriages, during and after them. Marriage doesn't mean a friendship has ended and something else has begun, it sticks with you, and if you play your cards right it's something you can fall back on if the marriage had some technical difficulties. Sorry for the info dump, I'm just happy for ya, made me reminisce. I hope it goes well for you two, gawking at cats sounds like an amazing pass time to bond over XD

@@GretchZIf you feel comfortable with each other, it's cool to move in together as soon as it's convenient. I also think calling each other bf/gf should happen as soon as you decide to continue dating. But marriage is a legally binding contract, you typically spend a lot of money and effort on the ceremony and party, and it's a way of letting your family and friends know that you're pretty sure you'll stay official for the rest of your lives. And that's why you need to take your time to make sure, it takes time to get to know people.

the original man vs. bear argument didn’t even start as a “would you rather” scenario. just makes women pick the lesser of two evils. it came from a statistician who said for a fact that women would rather be lost in the woods with a bear. because the worst case scenario for one is totally unpredictable, and the other is a bear. that is not specifically targeting a woman. it just wants its food and personal space. the men who says women are collectively stupid for choosing the bear are telling on themselves and really not looking into the reasoning.

Remember that woman in France who's home was invaded, and she was raped and tortured with a broom for hours, to the point of perforating her lung? I don't know what happened to her, but I know she at least lived long enough to fight for her life at the hospital. I'd rather die by bear than that.(And yes. That is a veeery extreme case, and just original scenario I'd choose bear since I still have faith in men in general. But imagine all the women who've already suffered assault or near enough? Cause that number is sadly waaay too high.)
@ida6950

@@alisemaleneohme4666 I agree the outcomes are definitely more unpredictable with a man, but the worst case scenario with a bear seems much more likely than the worst case scenario with a man (even though the latter one would of course be worse). Also just the option of fight or flight is basically non existent with a bear. A man is just a human, a human that is on average stronger than the average woman, but still just a human. I’ve also been assaulted but idk, I guess I truly do believe that most people are good, or at least not raging psychopaths. But I understand their reasons now thank you. I just think it’s really sad that so many women and girls don’t trust men.

My mom had been happily married to my dad for 46 years, and not only would she choose the bear, but she's actually encountered bears while hiking alone in the woods. They typically run away unless there's food nearby. She's also encountered random men in the woods, and she'll tell you she was more concerned with the men for obvious reasons. But my mother, being a smart woman, was also armed- not because of the bears, mind you. The caliber wasn't large enough to deter a bear. But a man with bad intentions, on the other hand...

Samantha Lux actually did a video about the 'Man vs Bear' trend recently. The original creator of the hypothetical... didn't even pose it as a hypothetical. All he said was "If a woman was in the forest alone, she'd be more scared to see a man than if she saw a bear". The tiktok went viral, a lot of men got really butthurt about what he said, and lots of people made tiktoks about it as a 'would you rather' situation. While women often would pick the bear, the emergence of a hypothetical allowed men the chance to twist it around and sprinkle in some good old fashioned ✨misogyny✨ into it.
@trishapellis
@trishapellis 7 ай бұрын
Well in a sense this isn't twisting, it's evidence. One single person - a man, to be precise - made a very general statement about women. Now it's very possible that this particular man had a lot of contact with women and knew what he was talking about concerning the women he knew, but in the grand scheme of things, one can say that this is still a very small sample size. So the "would you rather" thing that happened next, if it had been done in good faith, would have been just... providing evidence to prove or disprove the hypothetical. I say "if it had been done in good faith" because you just *know* a good number of those tiktokers etc staged and/or edited stuff to make it look like one answer was predominant by a large margin, or even the only answer they received at all, even if that may not have been the case. After all, they aren't scientists... they just need those juicy, juicy views, and this was perfect fodder for ragebait. In the end, if the original tiktok was all there was to it, the toxic men would've been able to just ignore it based on the fact that it was one guy saying this thing and it was probably ragebait anyway (I'm not saying that the original tiktok was ragebait, but the toxic men could have made themselves believe that to avoid introspection). But with so many women agreeing that they would, indeed, pick the bear, the toxic dudebros couldn't ignore this or make one bad kitchen joke about it and move on with their lives. Now that there was proof, it had become important. They started feeling the need to twist the debate in their favor because it became big enough that they felt threatened by it. That's what I think happened, anyway.

I think if you *genuinely* asked that question and mean it completely literally, just the risk of encountering one average male hiker vs one average brown bear on an average trail, then any woman who picks the bear has probably never left the city nor actually seen any mammal larger than a dog and judges the species bear based on the movie Paddington. The idea that wild animals are a petting zoo is actually a completely unrelated phenomenon.

@@Alias_Anybody Worst case scenario with a bear - it ends me pretty quickly. Worst case scenario with a man - t*rture, SA, k*dnapping, tr*fficking, cruelty and misery for an unknown period of time. I'll take my chances with a damn *polar* bear when that's the alternative. Also, it was based on the statistic that 1 in 3 women will be attacked by a man in her lifetime, whereas actually being attacked by a bear while hiking is exponentially less common. I think people need to consider that while men aren't inherently bad, there is no way that the "vast majority" of men are safe to be around alone when you look at a statistic like that. People who say things like "any woman who picks the bear..." are forgetting that 1 out of 3 of us have already experienced what an "average male" can do.

Here is the deal with "alphas". Most people don't understand the study. (Using female when describing non-humans.) BUT, allow me to point out, many species don't have male leaders/alphas. Male lions are for scaring away other male lions, not running the pride, he's a bodyguard. Wolf packs are typically small family units, not large packs, and typically ran with the females when they get to that large size. Penguins share parental responsibilities, there is no "alpha". Male seahorses are responsible for taking care of the young seahorses, not the female. This only "alpha male" stuff is garbage.

I'm an avid sims player, have been since sims 1, and if my partner deleted my save files there would be blood. None of my saves are anywhere near as old as hers, I don't have the attention span to stick to one save for more than a few months, so I can only image how heartbreaking it would be to lose a save that was years in the making. Always back up your save files! While we may be lucky enough to not have an asshole like this for a partner accidents can happen, files can get corrupted, so it's always better to have a copy of your saves. I have mine and all my CC/mods stored on a separate harddrive and I update it often. Happy simming!

Oooooh I wish he'd gone deeper into the AITA Sims guy. Him arguing with the people in the comments as he is overwhelmingly voted the a-hole really shows how horrible he'd been and, to top it all off, *the GF found the post and shared her story* which was so much worse. He apparently took a hammer to the thumb drive she'd backed the files on in front of her as she yelled for him to stop. He'd been following her around campus obsessively, based on clues she seems to be a POC and she calls out his family for being racist, his friends for being racist; the list goes on. Edit: grammar

Unfortunately was in a relationship with a guy like the one giving his gf "advice" about sex, except he never told me how to improve. He was very proud that he took my "v-card" and that being ignorant about how relationships work made it easy to push me into whatever he wanted. He positioned himself as my mentor in every aspect of life then got pissed that he felt like a dad teaching his kid how to navigate the world. He purposefully chose an abused, sheltered, minor to mold and he was never happy. Even when these people get exactly what they want, it's never enough.

I dated a dude in his 30’s when I was 16 (horrible experience). They didn’t mature past 16-18, so women their age don’t want them. The only people who would ever find them cool is a 16-18 year old, until that 16-18 year old starts growing up and the creep stays exactly the same.

I know of a grown man who's in his 50s or 60s now and still pursues women who are barely legal. His daughters are about the same age. He likes to claim it's because older women just don't have the energy to keep up with him. And he also breaks up with them and then says all women are crazy/all his exes are crazy. There's a common denominator there and it is not the women.

18:39 THIS is why some guys purposefully target 20yo women. They want the control, they want someone who doesn't have enough experience to know that they are pieces of shit. Women often choose an older man for their first time because they are expecting an experienced mentor instead of a scrawny dude who goes at it "hammer and tongs" and is gone in 60 Seconds. Although there are older people who _can_ do this and will go out of their way to make it a wonderful experience, sadly they are in the minority. (True for both sexes in both roles.) Of course our films and TV shows almost entirly show the idealized older person who gently "initiates" the younger person and we develop unrealistic expectations.

I got to add something here, because one post spoke to me directly. When I started playing WoW I had a guild member who would occasionally help out the lower level players. One day he came into the dungeon with no equipment. When I asked him he told me that his friends had decided he was spending too much time online. So they got his brother to log into his account and throw away all his items. First time I heard about someone doing that and the main reason why no one ever got my password from that day onward.

The sims one is crazy to me. I lost a save file that was a couple months old bc my hard drive wiped. So I know how much that hurt, I can only imagine what losing a 7+ year save file would feel like especially to someone you trusted. I would legitimately reconsider a relationship if someone did that to me. Idc how close we are, if you're willing to do that to a game I care about, what else are you willing to do that to? If anyone did that to me he would not be a 'loved one' anymore. Since he deleted it he not only broke boundaries, destroyed her property and showed he can't communicate but also he determined by some of his faulty logic she does not know how to spend her time and he should decide for her and he effectively made all that time spent on the game lost. - so that shows he didn't value her time at all.
