Therefore, I was spared all the "horrors" you sometimes hear from people who have a lot of difficulty adjusting to life here. I would not use my case as an example. But the answer to your question: I went to Tsukuba, Japan. I landed at the High Energy Physics Laboratory and University for Advanced Studies. (Umbrella university over all the labs controlled by the Ministry of Education). (Name of lab change, google KEK) My kids were small with dual USA/Canada citizenship and adjusted to the new life. My daughter spent 6 years in Canada studying at Kingston's Queen University and would NEVER return there. Both kids are fluent in English but their best tongue is Japanese. I was well known and 35 years old when I moved here. One story: I know a Russian Field Medalist (Nobel prize level in Math) who became American and now contemplated to renounce USA citizenship and leave the USA. It is virtually impossible without huge tax issues if you are "rich" because USA tax law is based on citizenship. He was teaching about "equilibria" and pointed to a Picasso painting and mentioned the "man and woman" near a cube/sphere. He then regretted that he had accidentally gendered the character son the painting as students could lodge a grievance. If I was at the level of that guy or say Terrence Tao (math hyper genius in UCLA), I would say publicly : f...k affirmative action, f..k diversity, f..k equity, f..k inclusion, f..k gender theory..... And, then if they harass me, I would turn to Asia (China even) and say: how much? Tao being Australian (Chinese race) is mellow. That Russian dude and his wife have had enough with New York: when things look like the Soviet Union..... PS Quebec Separatist Mathieu Bock-Côté just wrote a book in French: Totalitarianism without the gulag. That Russian dude and his wife agree. It is what we have now in the stupid West.

When I saw the writing on the wall several years ago, I told my nieces and nephews not to go to university. Gad, as a gov't employee I received an email 8 days ago which was advertising "a one-year mentorship-based program that provides employees from equity-deserving groups" with a way to get experience in management and promote your career. Fine. The "deserving" group included everything listed in these university ads plus persons with disabilities. I liked the name. Some people are deserving and others are not deserving according to them. So blatant discrimination based on skin, gender and other self-identifications is norm now.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms ought to preclude discrimination in hiring on the basis of ethnicity or gender, so why aren't people up in arms about this? Regardless, they aren't going to hire the most qualified candidate, further consigning Canadian Academia to continued mediocrity.
