The Rager from Gears of war is a creature who defies the COG soldiers and their weapons...momentarily that is. When injured, it flies into a rage which completely overhauls its body and allows it to press any attack. But how exactly does this stack up with biology and what has changed? and for that matter, what allows it to change? well lets find out!

Pimp Pastry both locust & humans come from the same planet (Sera), so therefore the locust aren’t aliens to the humans they are fighting, but just another race from Sera. If Sera is not earth, then both races (Humans & Locust) would be considered alien to us

I dunno, I kinda liked the theory posited by TV Tropes that Ragers are the juvenile form of Berserkers, with their rage forms being temporary at a young age but eventually becoming their permanent being once they mature. It'd also neatly explain why they seemed to disappear after their early appearances. If they start out as Ragers but mature into Berserkers, then maybe the Ragers just started maturing into proper Berserkers as the war went on and the C.O.G. assumed that they simply went extinct. It'd also make sense from a Locust perspective. If the Ragers are maturing into Berserkers, then they become much harder to control and thus can't be fielded as shock troops as often.

My theory is that they are young berserkers. When their rage takes hold for the first time, they go from a larva to a pupa. Further rage leads to the adult berserker.

Excellent video!! Kind of sucks to be a Rager. Imagine going berserk and killing everything not in control and then when you are dying and possibly coming down on that rage high. You wonder why you are wounded and dying. Seems like a nightmare unless you had control of it.

I am by far late to the party, but I would also surmise that the "extinction" of the Rager was also due to the Lambent, as we have seen that the Lambent explode on death or when undergoing violent trauma, a giant naked melee focused warrior that beats down enemies with their bear hands would certainly cause an explosion of the imulsion, and at least severely injure the rager if not outright killing it.

hey Roanoke i have an idea as to why they stopped showing up and it seems fairly simple, when you think about why you never see a Rager in his second faze. i believe that the Rager can only access there hulking mode when there going to die. they rapidly gain mass at a staggering rate which must consume a ton of material to do so, and in order to enact that transformation would require a lot of energy. its safe to say that if the Cog did not kill the Rager the transformation would. proceeding based on this knowledge you could also assume that this trait although useful in combat, is not useful as a survival trait. so my theory is that this mutation is not a dominant gene being as most of the locust that do appear or the standard drone. so with there rapid breeding, what ever they do in order to accomplish this act of reproduction, and Rager mutation not being dominant: the Rager gene eventually died out. also i believe that the drones can change there sexual organs at will, the others that are present like the queen or the berserker are simply mutations that cant change because of said mutation.

Can you do a video about the Swarm in Gears of War 4? What I find interesting about them is that they seem to evolve backward. While the locust reminded me of mammal-like reptiles, the swarm reminds me of amphibians. They are always wet and the way Juvies turn into Drones is similar to how tadpoles turn to frogs. And a video about the Scion would be cool too!

here's how I make sense of the Ragers present early in the war at Halvo Bay, but not present during the other games util Aftermath during Gears 3. perhaps the Ragers were used as shock troops early on, but were largely wiped out because they ran straight into a fight, either they were weak to head shots in the docile form, or in rage mode ran right into focused heavy fire as they became well known, this caused most of them to be wiped out except for the ones under Karn's command, who stayed in Halvo Bay and after the Hollow was flooded became Savage, Karn probably positioned Ragers at key positions resulting in most of his surviving even after his death. just an idea though.

i think about an immunity to emulsion in the rager that only get bypassed when body experience extreme stress which decrease the immune system efficiency (if it even works that way, but the raging starting after getting damaged would act somewhat like how the infector deals with the immune system of his target). or maybe a symbiotic relationship between emulsion and locust (which would be a way to explain the back to normal process)

Hey Roanoke another word of advice when you eventually start talking about Resident Evil 2 morphologies use the models in the record menu to get a better look on whatever you're talkin about but note you will have to do a certain task to get the models example when you meet Mr X shoot his hat off to get his character model the record menu

I'm going to go out on a limb and saying the wardens are actually ragers who were in rage mode when they got Krystalised in imulsion at the end of gears of war 3 it would explain why the wardens shoulders is covered in Crystal's and have chains wrapped around them and it would play into why wardens are so scarce in gears 5
