Quick correction for Rio 2016 on 3DS: The roster is huge, but every one of them, except for Mario, Sonic, and Mii are exclusive to certain events. They can't be used in all of them. So because of that, I'd personally dock a few points.

Another thing I gotta point out about Mario Super Sluggers: The roster doesn't show it here, but you can play as a 3D version of Dark Bones from Paper Mario TTYD, and I gotta say, the absolute GLOWUP he receives in this game is INCREDIBLE. He is now a very dark grey-black with maroon gloves and boots, a spiked shell, and a small horn on his snout. He may just be resorted to another Dry Bones skin, but it is the BEST alternate skin of ANY character in ANY Mario Sports game.

Yeah Dark Bones does tend to get a ton of love! He was a Dry Bones skin in the original Mario Superstar Baseball for GameCube too, so hopefully they keep that tradition and bring him back for future baseball games if there are any!

Mario strikers Charged is actually my favorite video game of all time. It's that good. The character roster, the maps, the campaign, the challenges ( which some are VERY hard), the cheats, the unique captain items and super strikes, the sidekicks even got unique special shots and of course the gameplay is absolutely amazing. I've put more hours into this game then any of game for good reason. I've replayed and beaten the campaign 6 times and will still occasionally go back to it. The amount of effort and detail put into this game is unbelievable.they even went as far to give EVERY character even the sidekicks unique theme songs to make every character feel different and unique. It pisses me off that battle league was as bad as it was considering the original 2 games especially charged was so memorable and fun. This game has a very special place in my heart and always will.

Super Sluggers is the platinum standard for what a Mario roster should be. I'll legit be shocked if we ever get something that good again... The Mario & Sonic Olympic rosters annoy me soooo much. Because yeah we've gotten new characters through guests. But they're always exclusive to one event. Having the same roster since the 2nd installment for a long running franchise is lazy. I blame Sega... Overall, Mario rosters are usually okay at best. With the worst ones obviously being the launch day Switch Mario Sports rosters. But.. at least those rosters turn out decent once the updates do finish??? Blah. But yeah, one day I hope to see a roster that surpasses Super Sluggers. Its far from impossible. And all we need for that is a roster that isn't afraid to reference the extended Mario sub-series again. With not just Donkey Kong, but the Yoshi games, Warioware games, the RPGs for freaks sake, etc.

Fun fact about Strikers Battle League: After the last two DLC characters, Bowser Jr & Birdo, 4 DLC slots were left unused. I'm assuming the game's playerbase post-launch wasn't looking good (I was a part of that), so they cut the DLC support early.

​@Goomba1309 that is definitely my biggest concern My only "it might be better than the other switch aborts entries" is that baseball flat out requires a 9 v 9, which is already far more than the other sports use. So by default the game needs to have a larger roster

Really weird how none of the post-Vancouver 2010 M&S games besides the two latest ones expanded their character rosters, and even then the newest two entries only allow certain characters playable in certain events. Having 4 new characters per game would’ve at least made the rest of the series a little more successful. I have a feeling that the next Nintendo direct will reveal Mario & Sonic at the Paris Olympics 2024 out of nowhere, be it for the switch or the next console. Tokyo released before the actual Olympics due to covid, so I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed Paris for the next console.

For my Mario and Sonic olympics roster, the 2012 games could've added Rosailina, Toad, Birdo, Diddy Kong, Cream, Rouge, Jet, and Espio. For the Sochi 2014 winter games, Dry Bowser Eggman Nega, Omega, and Toadette. I think guest chracters for the rio 2016 would've been from other Nintendo and Sega games, like Link, Little Mac, Pit, Excite Biker, Billy Hatcher, Alex Kid, Amigo, and Aiai. New commers like Dixie Kong, Funky Kong, Tiny Kong, Pauline, Storm, Bark, Bean, Fang, Mighty, Metal Mario, and more. What more characters would ad to the olympics roster?

For Rio 3DS, every event only has 7 playable characters, with Mario, Sonic, and Mii being playable in all events, all returning characters only being playable 2 events, and all new characters only in 1, so because of that, I'd give it a 3 honestly.

Why was Toad on the Wii U version of Rio 2016 and not the 3DS version? That is one of the most iconic Mario characters, and the 3DS version had so many characters in it, so surely they could've swapped somebody out with him. Like, I don't know if having 4 Koopalings should be more of a priority than Toad.

I loved the Mario Golf Advance Tour roster, even if my girl Daisy isn't a part of it. The other human characters give the cast more variety, and it makes me wish Nintendo bought them from Camelot (the company that made fan favorite, Waluigi) and put them into more sports games, and even in other series like the 3D games, 2D games, and Mario Kart. One of the characters, Azalea, has connections to Daisy, if anything to connect it to the Super games. Same would apply with the Mario Tennis Power Tour roster. One of them shares the same name as me. The fact that you gave Mario Hoops 3-on-3 a 10 rank is something I can get behind! Dixie Kong forever!!!

How, in a game where you can play Kamek way before his Mario Kart debut, and in any Mario Sports game (except Sluggers of course), Paratroopa who isn't that comon after the GameCube era, Toadette who's in fact not that common as playable, Rosalina who made his debut as playable in a golf game, and above all NABBIT, who make his first ever playable apparence in a spin off, who as not been seen playable again in a spin off except in Mario and Sonic Rio 2016 in which he was playable only in a single sport and Mario Kart Tour (not even 8DX DLC which is a huge shame to have taken Peachette instead of him, even more considering Wonder released around the same time), how can you say that Gold Mario "carries that roster". I kinda understand through the video that you loved Metal and Shadow Mario, I find them cool too, especially in the early days of days of Mario because their was way less character in the franchise, but they're like just a Mario skin with only one color and that's it, and Gold Mario is just a third one with nothing more special than the two other, and nowdays they are waaaaay more better options than just a Mario with a one color palette.

I know I'm in the vast minority when I say this, but Mario color clones are some of my favorite characters to play as out of any Mario character ever. I love Metal Mario in Mario Golf 64, Mario Tennis Open and Mario Kart 7, I love Shadow Mario in Toadstool Tour, I love Gold Mario in World Tour and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and I even love the Mario Galaxy version of Ice Mario, who is playable in Mario Kart Tour. I'm someone who frequently plays Mario no matter the roster (such as Mario Party Superstars or even Mario Wonder) and those color clones of Mario give me an excuse to play as a "cooler version" of him in my eyes. I understand hardly anyone else looks at these characters like that, but that's why I said "Gold Mario carries." Though I completely understand your point that Paratroopa, Kamek, and Rabbit are very uncommon and cool characters to have all playable in one game. Thanks for watching!
