Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I liked the designs of older cars. A very few handful of modern cars actually look good, but the rest look like a warped jelly bean or a bizarre hot wheel toy.

It's actually really really cool to see this.. Because it really shows how close all these cars were even at different model years getting against each other and that at the end of the day it could be anyone's race depending on skill.. Driver/car setup and overall who makes the least mistakes .. All these cars were capable of beating one another and using (tsukuba.?.) as the test track with all the right and close quarters driving really shows how evenly matched they are are... Now it's just deciding which one you want to import to the USA all on your own personal preference.!!. Awesome video.!!

爺様はほんと中谷とハッちゃん相手には無茶苦茶やるからなーw この二人は腕があって性格が温和だから、爺様は最初から「相手が引くはず」と無茶苦茶な幅寄せをして来る。 これ相手がドリキンだとそこまではやらないんだよなー。

He wrote a message commenting on why he departed Best Motoring, and apparently he was unhappy that in the later episodes that he was on, there were more instances of "faking" things for the sake of entertainment. The message was translated by Google though, so take that with a grain of salt. His last appearance on the show was in April 2004.

@@astorbergonzoni Gan-san's ability in AWD cars drastically worsened as he aged. Towards 2000 and on, his lap times were slower than Nakaya or Tsuchiya in the same car. For example, he never managed to lap the R34 GT-R V-Spec II any faster than 1:06, while Tsuchiya's best lap time was 1:04.89. Another example is the blob eye STI in 2003. Nakaya's best time was a 1:05.57 while Gan-san was way off at 1:06.65. In 1998 too, Nakaya lapped an Evo V RS in 1:04.65 while Gan-san was a whole 2.6 seconds slower at 1:07.25. His ability continued to be relatively sharp for FWD and RWD cars (Type Rs, S2000s, RX-7s, his usual rides), but was nothing spectacular anymore. Don't get me wrong, he was still an amazing driver, but I think Nakaya and Tsuchiya, especially towards the end, edged out Gan-san.They were simply able to put out faster lap times that he never had matched. Nakaya showed great adaptability in whatever car he drove, and it's reflected in how he was (almost) never outclassed in lap times.

Spec C is faster because it's making alot more HP and it's also lighter. It's supposed to be about 320HP and some 300lbs lighter too with a more aggressive suspension setup too.

Nakaya destroying the competition again............what else is new? He is like the 4WD god. So no, STI didnt win because its an STI, Nakaya won. If you gave the same car to Hattori or Kurosawa, they wouldnt have been as fast or as good. Much like when Nakaya wins with an Evo...............yet the Evo didnt win just because its an Evo, Nakaya did. Much like Kurosawa winning with an NSX or something. Its not because its an NSX, its because Kurosawa was behind the wheel. But even then Nakaya mentioned the Zero Counter, which is something he easily does with an Evo but struggles a bit to do with an STI, as shown here.

Nakaya easy win. He is beast with AWD cars so it isnt important which car he drove. It's not doesnt matter for him. With EVO or GTR he would destroy other drivers too.

あの頃が懐かしいです。これらは伝説的なドライバーと古い学校の車でした。これらの車はどれも最高です。 スバルと三菱のラリー競争により、何世代にもわたって本当に速いスポーツカーを作ることができました。 日産スカイラインも同様に驚くべきことであり、GT クーペとしてはまともな結果です。残念ながら、そのような車はもう存在しないでしょう。一つの時代が過ぎた!

I have this video with translation, some parts were cut out. They were talking about what tune some of the cars have done to them. EVO was lightly tuned (exhaust), in a bad way, it lost some mid range power. In other words, it performed worse than stock. Thats why. It would be quite a bit faster otherwise. Somewhere in high 1m 6s range.
