I’ve only been able to use swivels to put on leaders, but now I have a knot that I can use to tie one! Thanks for the advice

Does it slide good true the guides on BFS bait casting rod? The guides are so small that sometime I feel that the FG knot might be just the only one’s that is still slim but so much time trying to tie this knot on a small diameter line! I fish lakes and big rivers. What would be a good general purpose braided line size for smallmouth, largemouth and walleye and maybe pike. I have many BFS reels but lately I purchase a Shimano 17 scorpion DC and I don’t really know what size braided line I am going to put on this new bait casting reel. I want to remain in a small diameter line and use it has well for trolling for trout. Thank you for your advices.

It is not bad but it really depends on your line diameter choice. This is likely a bit thicker than fg due to the uni knot. I think there's a lot of species right there. Smallies and bass probably can do good finesse with 10 to 15 lb braided line and then so your leader can be 8, 10, and 12. U can go thicker too if needed due to toothy guys on the leader part, but as you can see, as you get thicker, so will your knots! When it comes to walleye. I don't have much experience fishing em, but I know most ppl finesse them due to water current for river eyes. Gotta cut through the water to get the lures to the bottom! Pike... well... it all depends on your pike size ya? It I wanna finesse my pickerels. I do 12 lbs. For a stupid youtube vid... I jump to 20 so I don't lose them. I heard big pike require wire leader... but never had the opportunity to try catching some of those. None here lol.

Also trolling for trout, I know many ppl use lead core line to long fluorocarbon leader. Effective for deep water and controlling your trolling depth!
@XF1100PCT3 жыл бұрын
@@rawrfishing it is only trolling for lake trout and brook trout in lakes mostly.

@@XF1100PCT I have a buddy who does it for bows and even landlocked salmon!

After you tie the clinch and tighten the knot, take the tag end of the main line and tie 3 half-hitches around the leader and tighten down to the knot. Slipping problem solved. I never make a leader long enough to enter the tip eye of my rod, anyway.
@rawrfishing3 жыл бұрын
I never had an issue slipping but sure! That should help. Especially if u wanna tie this knot with a twist similar to the gt knot. I would finish with a few half hitches and rizzuto finish

Dude that is awesome, which color is main line? Also you are only one using blacklight, if I were you, knock out a bunch of knots before someone steals your idea.....sandiego jamb, polamar, gerald swindle floro knot
@rawrfishing2 жыл бұрын
thx man! Orange braided line is the main color. actually, i have gotten this idea from another KZbinr :P but i guess i should do it for my favorite knots :)

Meant blacklight lol

Can I use an improved clinch knot or does it have to be the og clinch? I always am more confident with the improved clinch just checking to see if it would jack things up
@rawrfishing3 жыл бұрын
It would thicken the knot and the tag end would point the other way. If you do enough wraps and tighten properly, it will be fine with out it.
@SantoCurro-ho4ne8 ай бұрын
You should use a doubled main line
@rawrfishing8 ай бұрын
Nah I ended up dumping this line. I should probably just remove this vid. I opting for the Albright knot or the reverse Albright knot for my thin lines
@andrewjr17852 жыл бұрын
Most tutorials show wrapping up and back down, not like a clinch knot.
@rawrfishing2 жыл бұрын
They do but that thickens it. I find it that if your line is thick enough, it doesn't need to double up as it generate enough cushion to bite down. But some braid are super flat, especially the thin ones and that will need to double up.

Pretty sure it's not a uni and clinch. May as well just tie a uni to uni.
@rawrfishing Жыл бұрын
It's what it is. But it's slimmer than double uni. Do what u like :)
@theoriginalwah Жыл бұрын
@@rawrfishing I'm not arguing brother, I just can't get my head around it. I like the way you tie it (especially with light line) coz I can't see the loops. But how is the braid going BETWEEN loops if your just looping around the braid. If you get what I mean 🤣

It's definitely hard to see some of these knots tied. I love tying knot but I think I can use a bit of practice doing recording. May do a few more this winter. Let me know what u wanna see and I may give it a go 👍
