If he isn’t in a hall of fame. Then he should get his own.

First time I've seen the video. Ray Stevens was terrific in an age no longer seen. It's hard to imagine any of his comedic songs playing on the radio today. Their loss.

The month of May 1974 was a special time for "The Streak". It hit #1 on May 18, 1974 for a 3 week stay and went on to sell 5,000,000 copies. It was the #1 novelty song of the entire decade and was among the Top-10 songs of the year in 1974. It reached #1 in Canada and the United Kingdom, too, and the Top-5 in Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia.

Amazing how well this has aged. A lot of seventies comedy is a little uncomfortable to watch now, and frankly not even that good, but this is still so funny and very well-written. I guess Ray's secret is celebrating his subjects rather than denigrating them; a top bloke, to be sure.

Apparently streaking was a fad in the 1970s along with those rope plant hanging things and that one dude who became a millionare selling pet rocks with hay beds lol imagine buying a rock inside a store because its in a box and says pet rock on it instead of just picking one up outside.

What used to be a funny bit of Americana, laughed at, and relatively harmless, it is no longer is innocent and funny. It can earn you a lifetime place on the roster of sexual offenders.Don't take the dare and run naked through the town square...we Americans don't take our nudity lying down~
