It looks like the onboard recording but it's hard to tell , there's really not much difference unless you put them on a big TV screen . In the goggles the 720p feed looks awesome .

It's entirely possible to love a new capability regardless of how we've ended up with it. I'm actually getting pretty excited about what possiblities exist for the next generation of this setup (Uses Raceband & IMB6c Channel allocations, Dynamic RSSi-driven power output, analog input for goggles, smalle form factor integration options, etc.) - it's the kind of product I'm deliberately avoiding trying in person, because I know it's going to cost me money in the long run.

I got into DJI drones in March 2019 and currently have 4 of them. I have the 2 gimbals they offer too. Sure they used to suck when their systems kept failing back in 2015 but that is all fixed now.

Nice to see your toughts. I Like my DJI System too, it's really hard to not like it. Digital Video feels a bit different than Analog, but after a few days i was used to and it's absolut flyable. Also i noticed some of my Analog Quads fells more Latency depending on the Camera. The Digital System has a bit Frame los or drop in some situations, but the Latency over all is absolut fine. the Frame los or drop is a thing to get used too, not more worse than bad Analog Video noise.

The quad tune is not great. Very weak PID response. But that's just some settings. Great flying on those loose sticks!! I needed to tighten the spring tension. The DJI springs are pretty soft, but it is awsome you can tighten without taking the radio apart. Again, just some settings. Good stuff. Loving there is not break up or rolling shutter. Pretty crazy.

Andy Ciordia the only thing that is proprietary is the goggles. Fat shark was going to make you buy a new camera/vtx too. Also they were going to use the hdmi port for something.

How about trying it with focus mode turned off at 700mw. I wonder if you'll still retain low latency. So, I"m sold on the goggles/air until, but am on the fence about the transmitter. Would you recommend it for us accustomed to Crossfire, or do you think it's best we stick with what we have? Thanks Nurk.

I have tried it, but I couldn't really tell the difference in experience in "high quality" mode without focus assist. It's very strange. Seemed very similar to what I had been flying.

@NURK FPV - your timing should work, and I'm excited to see track time comparisons (though not being your quad and not tuned for racing I doubt you'll beat your own builds heh) The DJI system is basically the same as Raceband, though 6/7/8 are switched around. I know a few timing systems have already released firmware updates to support DJI so check if there's an update available?

I felt the same stutter until I tightened the stick settings. It's just a disconnected, un-nerving feeling. I got used to it, but it's better now that I tightened up the spring settings. I think the gimbals are set full loose from the factory and it seems like there's actually play in the linkage. I do miss the programability of my X7S, but for this video, I'll suffer thru it. My big wants are a receiver so I can let others view live video and real Betaflight OSD. I'm also having trouble getting the rate profiles to change, but maybe I just don't understand how it works. I've been doing a lot of flying since I got it, it's really enjoyable and it's upped my confidence by an order of magnitude. Enjoy the new world, and cie la vie on the analog gear, many of us have a lot of really to notch gear that instantly lost it's luster. I guess I'll put my HDOs in the box with my CD collection.....

The bardwell video on setting different rate/PID profiles will get you there, it's a bit of a faff the first time, but once its there it works really well. I'm still shocked how much confidence I gained moving from junk VRx and $13 cameras to a Clearview GS and Predator cameras, so that's definitely a real thing.

i just got the setup and connected it to my quad. everything works but it only shows 1 bar of signal when the quad is right beside me. when i walk like 5 meters away, the connection totally breaks off. does anybody know what's wrong? The antennas are plugged in..

Did you set the camera in 16:9 mode? It's a lot better than the default 4:3 that comes with.

I could've got DJI and still can, BUT.. 1. 2x heavier unmodded. 2. No small drones with cheap batteries for playing for long periods with many batteries. 3. Very expensive drones you can't relax with properly. 4. They have higher latency. 5. Image cuts to black immediately making it more likely to lose or crash expensive drone. 6. Only 2 cameras actually look O.K. (i own 4k TV's) 7. Dji is and always has been just a flying camera company for photographers. 8. Stress, worry, devastation, ect. 9. I'm not stupid.

If you put them next to each other on the quad they will interfere and make both results unrealistic. JB tested that.

Every time i see some one review this, i always feel like the Focus Mode On algorithm is too aggressive on 700mW. one would think thats enough power for a pretty clear picture. it seems as though the sides degrade far too quickly given the distance? the center looks great but i would really like to see it fly at 25Mw and see what Focus mode off looks like and see how the systems handles reception with those parameters.. great video as always, thanks for the review!!

U don’t need to use their radio. It doesn’t make any difference in signal quality or whatever. Just use your normal nice radio and you will fly better and be more comfortable

Fast pilots have proven the analog systems are quicker, probably due to the lack of weight for increased agility. Competitive wise, it's not better but experience-wise it is.
