Yes! I re-read Carmilla after watching this and the fact that the lyrics say "1 to 5 to 7 I'm a dancer in the darkness"referencing to the part in the novella where the lead character Laura says that 'Carmilla never comes out of her room before 1' shook me! Such small details have also been picked up from the novella. Its sad that the company probably never tell the girls in detail about what the mv is about :(

the dance style you were referring to is called tutting and it is ridiculously hard to pull off well. It's actually kind of insane that Monster was the title track for the mini, yet they spent months on learning and perfecting a tutting choreo that most of the viewers will probably never realize is insanely difficult. What a flex.

They’re really close friends, but they don’t really do physical contact like that unless it’s for a music video, Irene tends to shy away from moves like that. They couldn’t stop laughing in the behind the scenes for that scene. If you want to listen to live vocals I would recommend you listen to their cover of Milky Way.

I listen to Uncover by Seulgi every day, her vocals and her dancing 😭😍that’s the part 3, part 2 is titled “IRENE” and it’s her dancing with herself. Irene’s dancing, singing and rapping is often overshadowed because people outside of the fandom and media focuses on her looks more than her talent which they are clearly sleeping on. As a reveluv and as someone who’s ultimate Kpop bias is Irene I was so happy when the I&S subunit came out because she got to showcase her talents a bit more. Also as a lesbian I was screaming with the gay activity on Monster MV, they also delayed the MV release a few hours because they had to “edit” some stuff, us gays believe they edited the gay bomb. 😂 also, they are sweethearts all of them so I really recomend watching their reality shows and the variety shows they are on. There’s actually a lot of content, go to ReVelUp Subs everything is there ✨Seulgi also was on Secret Unnie with Sunmi and it was so great to watch even more gay activity 😂 Sunmi even made a song for Seulgi and it’s the last track of her latest album, Wheein was also on the show with Hyoyeon from Girls Generation so if you don’t know what to watch and youre scrolling endlessly through Netflix like i do those are my recommendations 😂 Moonbyul was also on Level Up! Thrilling project which focused on I&S. Moonbyul was even flirting with Irene 😂

Monster is supposedly about our dark side trying to corrupt us so technically they're two sides of the same person OR maybe they're just REALLY good friends, that works too. imo their voices aren't really similar, not in tone or level of technique. Episode 2 that you saw is Irene dancing to a mix of all the songs on their mini-album and episode 3 is Seulgi's solo from their mini as well. highly recommended!

The bsides of the mini album are great too, you should check them out (Diamond, Feel Good and Jelly). But first if you want to hear live OT5 vocals, I recommend you to give a listen to Milky Way, it's a harmonical journey, and you really can hear HOW GOOD their voices sound together. Okay so. Monster can be interpreted a few different ways. It can A: be interpreted as 2 sides of a person's personality fighting for control (Hence a lot of the choreography looking "combative"), or B: a lesbian romance inspired by the 1872 gothic novella, 'Carmilla'. Naughty's choreo just makes me wanna throw up its so good lmao. Tutting, voguing and waacking ALL in the same...It is SO DIFFICULT but when done properly is SO MIND BOGGLING AND COOL. Seulgi, for reference, is the one with the hyper unique voice, and she has one of THE MOST Unique voices in kpop. She starts the first verse, Irene starts the second verse. Also is the one holding the freaky ass dolls, and gets dipped w/ the oni face edit.

I didnt expect this reaction but yay ! thanks ! I've watched ur RV vids and it's interesting ur opinions and explanations (cause u know about music, if im not wrong vocal coach, right?) hope u continue reacting to them! I&S or aseul (Airin in korean and seulgi) are closest friends, they've been together for like 10 years and they kinda were the only suvivors from the "oldie" trainees (Seulgi 7 years of training and Irene 5) also their age diff is not that much, so they are pretty close. Pretty sure producers and everyone know how spectators love their relationship (Seulrene) so they kinda play with that , but at the same time, there's a good story behind that video and lyrics. lol when u explain about "monster" and the pronunciation i was like wooo he's cool hahaha about Naughty, that its tutting, its pretty hard cause u have to be very precise and u have to control ur movements (a lot of strength but at the same time, control it cause if u dont it will be so forced) the other parts are Irene dancing vid (remix of their songs) and "Uncover" Seulgi's solo song (and dance too). if you wanna check out about their vocals, i recommend u "Milky way" (pretty recently, after wendy's recovery), Would u (accoustic version, with out Joy cause she was filming a drama), look at me cover by Joy (pretty recently, Joy voice is so sweet), good bye (Team Rocket, Joy Seulgi and Wendy in immortal song), Blue lemonade (Wendy's voice ! even when i love Seulgi's i know how versatile and kinda different voices has Wendy, so when i heard that song i was surprised, in a good way, cause diversity) and from this sub unit i recommend u "so good" , if u see the lyrics (omg hahaha) it would be nice for u and for us to understand more about what u said (having different voices but at the same time there's something similar) but i kinda think the same, not the voice, but there's something similar, kinda more low sound? idk but if u react i would love to see ur perspective ! have a nice day and take care !

UGH! I love when people get into Red Velvet cause is like opening a surprise box full of weird and amazing goodies. Im a Reveluv and Seulgi is my bias (with OG visual Irene as my bias wrecker because have you seen her elegance and then hear her laugh like a freaking 5 year old?!) The concept for Monster was a dual concept from what both the members AND their company, SM, have said, one been of a story about having duality and having a light and dark sides to yourself fighting inside of you, which is why theres a mention of two shadows when standing under a single light, so literally and figuratively speaking fighting with the monster that we all have inside. Which matches very well the entire vibe of the mini album. The second concept was of the vampire novel Carmilla and how it was about monsters and sinners, about things been more complicated than good and bad, light or dark....about being seeing as a monster from being different or wanting different things, it is also a very homoerotic, lesbian leaning novel and story so thats why theres some lesbian imagery in the video and also because SM knows how to cater to one of the biggest ships in Red Velvet which is Seulrene, Seulgi and Irene as they are really close and they have a lot of "moments" within their fandom so its a good marketing step and we love it and eat it uppppp! I hope you keep your reactions going cause I love your musical inside and I love watching people discover their love for red velvet. PS: If you can, give the mini album a listen and you will get more range of their vocals, how well they mix together and the whole duality concept they were going for....and all the songs are bangers.

The difficulty level and just the creativity of Naughty's choreography is insane. To add up also not only muscle memory but also coordination is needed since they are singing too. They had to be stable all throughout and even find the freaking camera in music shows just so much to put your mind into. It took them 1 month to learn the basics of tutting at least 10 individual lessons and then they started to learn the choreography after. It took 2 months to make the choreography and spent 4-5 months for the overall preparation before its release according to their choreographer Spella and Shim Jaewon (who is also the choreographer of the iconic pre debut Be Natural performance of the duo, you should definitely check it out.)

In Monster, brown lipstick is Seulgi, red lipstick is Irene (original visual). ^_~ Monster is said to be inspired by the 1870s novella "Camilla" by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. It's a vampire book and has lesbian themes as well. So yeah, you would not be wrong with the "are they gonna embrace?" I love Naughty's choreography, tutting ON FIRE!!!! (Also, it's so funny that you said something about The Magicians, because I sent the Naughty video to my husband when it came out and said, "Look at these ladies casting spells up in here!!") It's sooooo fun to see you getting into RV and the Seulgi/Irene subunit. Their first subunit song, if I am recalling correctly, was a dance to their song "Be Natural" (a very "Velvet" concept). It's super sexy, and it was early on after their debut. The whole song is great too! I think it was before Yeri joined (?? not 100% sure). I loved their songs, and yes Monster was a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE hit, esp among the LGBT community. I love how you keep saying "You never know what you're going to get" hahaha! I said something similar early on about how they are super experimental and they do all kinds of things but everything they do is "them." You are learning what I meant! xD! I love this

GOD THE PART WHERE IRENE IS FRAMING SEULGI'S TUTTING AT 8:11 WILL ALWAYS MAKE ME SCREAM. It's so fucking GOOD. I can't handle it. 'Cause you have to figure Irene is either wearing a GoPro or something with similar quality, making sure both of her hands are clear and clean in the shot, AND MAKING SURE HER OWN FINGER TUTS ARE ON POINT.

irene and seulgi have known e/o the longest. seulgi entered sm in 2007, irene in 2009 while yeri in 2011 and both wendy and joy in 2012. so yup they are undoubtly very close and if youve watched most of (if not all) rv contents, you can really tell that they have a very good and soft chemistry. you are recommended to watch be natural 2014 (by irene & seulgi), Greedy stage on smtown and their level up's thrilling project too to see more of their dynamic :) hope you enjoy!

Yay, Red Velvet's subunit! I agree with you, Irene and Seulgi's voice are a bit similar yet very different and compliment each other well. I'm no specialist but I think it maybe because they sound a bit nasal but in different ranges. And they both sound very nice when singing low, very "full". I'll continue my Red velvet agenda and recommend you Ladies Night live again, as well as Kingdom come! I'd really like to hear you fully analyze their voices! Keep up the good work! Edit: you can find Ladies night live on their Vlive channel (Umpah umpah camping date, 2019.08.23 at around 24 minutes), but I don't know about the copyright there :/

The choreo of Naughty is called "tutting" Can you believe it? One of the hardest dance is done by a vocal-core girlgroup. Red velvet is really versatile in everything. BTW, Reveluvs!
