Reminds me, I did Cessna pre flight, needed fuel, ordered fuel, saw fuel truck in front of my plane, he left, I went and did fuel check again and no fuel here he fueled plane next to me. He didn't get my request for fuel. Always good to pre pre check

I just started training with my mentor. It’s been a big journey to get to this point. I’ve been on the road for 2 days doing a little over 1100 miles in total. My school didn’t teach backing besides the parallel park which is dumb so my mentor started helping me back today. My second receiver had a dirt lot with a row of trailers on each side and barely enough room to turn around in the middle. The one spot left was down a steep hill with huge ruts where the tandems go and a fire hydrant on the blind side rear corner just to make it interesting. I got it in there after 3 tries and I’m really proud of myself. I am grateful to have a patient and good mentor!!

We had a school bus driver that took his bus in for brake replacement and annual inspection. When he went to pick it up and bring it back to the school he didn't do a pre-trip since they had supposedly just inspected everything. He drove about 2 miles and a wheel came off. They hadn't tightened the lug nuts after the brake job. He got a ticket from the police for not having done the pre-trip. Obviously, no students on the bus. If you are going to be the person behind the steering wheel, you should be the person checking everything. Thanks for bringing us along. Keep the shiny side up

You should have your lights and flashers on during your pretrip insp. so you can see that theyre all working. You also should do one every day before you head out because you might have a tire that goes flat overnight or, like what happened to me, a drive tire sidewall can blow out while you're sleeping.

Tanya, have you ever tried to get a office job at Crete? Like in payroll or Recruiting? Would that be a conflict of interest? I know you wouldn’t take on a position where you’d have to Fire Kevin 😅 like Safety. Oh BTW, can you guys explain to us Old School Retired Truckers what in the world is an Asset Manager??? 🤔. Thanks.
@TheJoyofTrucking Жыл бұрын
Hi there! I have not tried to get an office job with Crete. Who would film Kevin? 😉And we both love traveling, so that sure would be a big change. An ‘asset manager’ at Crete is the assigned dispatcher that a driver works with. He/she looks after a number of drivers and works with the ‘planner’ for load assignments. At Werner they were called ‘fleet manager.’ Each company probably has their own lingo… What kind of trucking did you do?

@EricCutrer Жыл бұрын
They're called asset managers instead of fleet managers because Crete considers their drivers to be their most valuable asset. That's true for any trucking company because if they don't have drivers the trucks don't move, and moving the freight is how they get paid.

Good afternoon. Question for you, or anyone who may want to comment. I am 62 yrs old and retired from my lifelong profession. Am I too old to go to trucking school become a trucker for approximately five years until I really retire? If it is possible for me to do this, any suggestions on where I would start? I live in the Las Vegas, NV area. Thank you. I really like your videos.
@TheJoyofTrucking Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Congratulations on your retirement. There are lots of people who switch to trucking as their last career. You are definitely not too old! Kevin got his CDL at 59 and will be 62 next week. Getting your CDL only takes a month. Kevin got his with Phoenix Truck Driving Institute. Check your area for a reputable school. Get CDL. Get in with a company for training. The first year is a steep learning curve. Learn as much as you can. By the second year you can be driving for a good company making good money. It’s rewarding and a fun way to see the country while getting paid. Best of luck! Let us know how things develop! Thanks for watching our channel.
