Remnants of Hurricane Helene move over Appalachia

This morning, there's a clearer picture of the damage left by Hurricane Helene. The storm is being blamed for at least 45 deaths across five states, and more than 3.8 million customers are without power from Florida to Ohio as the remnants of the storm move over Appalachia, bringing rain and catastrophic flash flooding.

The storm may be over, but many are left dealing with the damage, loss, and pain. We pray for those who have lost loved ones-comfort their hearts, surround them with YOUR peace, and remind them that YOU are close to the brokenhearted. We ask for strength and wisdom for the rescue workers as they continue their efforts in helping the communities rebuild. Let them feel YOUR presence guiding their every step. LORD, we also lift up the pets affected by the storm, that they may be found and cared for, bringing comfort to their owners in this difficult time. Thank YOU, GOD, for being our refuge in the storms of life, and for bringing healing and restoration to those in need. Help everyone affected to find hope in YOU as they rebuild their lives. In JESUS' name we pray, amen.

Taking a similar position as they do with food stamps, childcare vouchers and college tuition being paid off by the Biden administration, we should expect Florida and Tennessee residents will be rejecting all of those federal government handouts they’ll be offered to help rebuild their communities.

My heart just aches for everyone caught in the path of these terrible storms. There will be more storms, more deaths, more grief if we don't elect a leader willing to do what's needed! The Democrat presidential candidate has a plan of action against climate change. The Repubican candidate doesn't even believe in it. We have the power to choose in November. I hope we choose wisely. My prayers for all those harmed in this terrible storm.
