Working on my mates 2000HP No Prep G-Body

We are all in debt to someone for a favour and in my case i owe my mate Mark from Outcast Automotive for when he rebuilt the TH400 in my crown wagon.
Mark's 1983 Chevy Malibu has a pretty cool story, Originally owned by the United States Forestry our mate Dan bought the car and named it the "Week Wagon"
Dan raced the car at Dragweek 2017 and after it finished auctioned the car off with the proceeds donated to Scott Taylor for his disabled son Alex.
Harry Haig from ‪@HaulassGarage‬ purchased the wagon and dubbed it "Malibu Stacey" WIth Robby Abbott and Corty Haig piloting the car at Dragweek 2018/2019.
From there the car was shipped over to AUS and ended up in Mark's hands, Mark has fitted a 598ci Big Bock Chev with twin 88mm Turbos backed by an Outcast Automotive TH400 and controlled by a Haltech Nexus R5.
The G Body is now officially known as the "Burrito Bus" and has ended up at The Skid Factory where i can repay the favour for Mark and help him finish the car and get it ready to hit the track!

I was the original owner who took it to Drag Week in 2017. It originally was owned by the U.S. Forest Service and sold to a public owner sometime in the 1990s. The wagon went through several owners before I got it from a guy in Idaho Falls, ID. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling seeing the car thriving in its new life, as it was nearly ready for the scrap yard when I purchased it for $250 US. Great job Woody, Mark, Harry, and Robbie and everyone who has been a part of the car’s incredible journey.

Just a tip Woody, when you're cutting aluminium with a cutting disc use spray canola oil on the disc itself to minimize aluminium dust. Re-coat the disc as required... cheers Stench

You had it right the first time Woody. Top hose is outlet from the engine, inlet for the rad. Hot water goes from top of engine to top of radiator then in theory even without a pump will naturally sink as it gets cooler and denser then go out the bottom hose and feed the pump then into the engine...

I always remembered "Malibu Stacy" & the Chevelle coming in to the tracks as we were leaving in 2019. It was an epic week, & if I remember rightly, Al helped rewire the Malibu prior to scrutineering on the Sunday @ Virginia M'sport Park. Ah the memories. Great episode Woody.

Your welding is getting better, 4047 wire flows better than the 4043 wire

for cast alloy? ive ordered some 4043 but might add some 4047 to the cabinet also.

@theskidfactory yes, the 43 means it 5% silicon, 47 means it is 10% silicon content, the silicon is what makes it flow out better, but you can use it on any alloy, the exception is if you need a colour match for anodising

Senor Woodrigas, shouldn't the race tank be facing the other way so G force at the launch pushes fuel towards the pickup and not away, or does it have trapdoors etc? Obv there's the surge tank but that thang will empty very quickly. No doubt you have already thought about this

The tank has trap doors / baffles internally, yes ideally you'd usually pickup from the rear but the surge should hold just enough race fuel for a pass anyway.

The front surge tank might not be required if you used a dead head feed to the mechanical pump and use a regulator to maintain a set pressure feed to the mechanical pump. Then have the fuel rail pressure regulator returning fuel to the tank.

Good episode woody. But how’s the supply from the OE tank going to work now you’ve crimped the line ? 1 “rubber” return like and a even smaller vent tube/line on the hanger. Is there a sump supply on it ? Obviously the new race tank has a separate sender and a sump supply
