As the original seller, a bit of a back story. I have been buying and selling Warhammer for 15 years. I also do professional painting jobs and commission for fun. About four years ago, a fellow wargamer gave me his 9-year-old son Khorne army after he passed away for free. It was his first army and was using it to learn how to paint. I placed them in simple green but ironically moved to Reno NV shortly after for work. When I returned back home to PA beginning of last year, I discovered them and put them up for sale (I was downsizing at the time). Ironically, If I had them with me in NV, I could have walk a mile to the house and said: Free army, here you go. Please remember, we all start somewhere.

This certainly marks the first time that a seller has come forward after a video that I’ve made. Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it. It’s very unfortunate and sad that your friends son passed away. Hopefully I can do a little justice to the army by fixing it back up. Being from Reno as well, crazy coincidence. a few questions 1. have you ever aquired obvious rip-offs and counterfiet minies? like ones that companies have had or could have legal actions taken by the original designer/company. 2. how would you convert a nutcracker into a boss/hero for tabletop gaming? How would you convert ornaments into minies, like santa, elves or the reigndeer that you hang off the tree. 3. have you colored minies with permanent markers only?
@eBayMiniatureRescues3 жыл бұрын
A few answers 1. I have received items that were counterfeit, my thought is that, while I won’t promote it, or play them in a game, I might as well keep the models around for conversions. Same as 3d printed parts in my mind. 2. Converting Christmas things into warhammer, hmm. Papa Nurgle might as well be Santa, so add tentacles to everything and spread the gift of corruption! 3. Never fully, but trim, yes, the paint sharpies are amazing for trim.
@richardorta89603 жыл бұрын
@@eBayMiniatureRescues cool! 1) though you won't play them, you've held onto them you say. do you know any of the knock-off histories? have you painted and/displayed any? or do they become kit-bash parts like for terrain? 2) papa nurgle as santa. got the feeling his song would be Messed Up X-Mas. Hate to end up on that naughty list. 3) I used sharpie to color the mane, hooves, horn, eyes and mouth of a unicorn. the material loved the ink and held it well. trim and minor detail work was suggested to me before but i am still curious to see if anyone has went full marker on a mini. plus get an idea how a hard core or at least enthusiastic mini maker/painter deals with different materials when using marker. i need t try magic markers on the minis i have too... maybe i could smear the ink to get effects? thank you for answering my questions! Love what your doing man, great content and all of your finished products are amazing. Just thought I'd ask why don't you ever rescue / paint any larger models ? E.g Space Marine Dreadnought, Eldar Fire prism or even a Tau Piranha. Is it because larger models would take a considerable amount of time or you feel your able to show more detail and better techniques with troops and Named characters. Thanks in advance.
@eBayMiniatureRescues3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! To your question, I would love to do larger models more often, the biggest hurdle is honestly finding models of that size in need of rescue for a good price. People want a lot of money for larger models even if the condition is bad, so when I look at an auction I tend to skip over it. That being said, I look on eBay every day to see what I can get for the channel, so you really never know what's going to pop up from week to week. Weirdly, painting larger models doesn't really take much longer, the spaces are larger, but the amount of details are generally about the same as a smaller model. Think about a Gargant. It's mostly skin, so I would airbrush that and 80% of the model would be done. it depends on the model of course, but I've always found larger models to be either quicker or about the same as smaller ones time wise.

What process did you use to put paint in your airbrush? Thinner, paint, then water? I'm asking because I'm always dealing with dry tip and it makes me not want to use an airbrush.
@eBayMiniatureRescues3 жыл бұрын
You pretty much nailed it, thinner, paint, then a little water. Mostly that’s just to keep the paint from hitting the needle first, too thick, once it’s in the thinner it won’t clog the needle with pure paint, the water is just to make it go a little farther. Sometimes I end up adding more paint after the water, but as long as you get some liquid in there before paint you should get less dry tip. Best practice is to just keep a toothbrush around to scrub the tip every so often, that way you just don’t have to worry about dry tip at all, you can’t prevent it in the long run.

@eBayMiniatureRescues3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! A lot of my videos I don't use a Dremel. Generally I just go with a toothbrush and that will do enough to get the model cleaned. The sonic cleaner, I tend to use it because it makes the process muuuuch faster. I can strip a model in cleaner in a few cycles rather than letting it sit for a week. But that's also the alternative to using the sonic cleaner. Get your solution ( I use LA's Totally Awesome) and a jar with a lid or some Tupperware, submerge your model and let it sit for a few days, come in with a toothbrush and take away as much as you can, if it still needs more then let it sit for longer. Use 97% and above isopropyl alcahol for metal models and you can get them stripped in minutes, plastic too if you don't let it sit for too long.
@rokurokubi32733 жыл бұрын
I can't put my finger on why exactly, but the proportions of the Bloodcrushers kinda bothers me. Regardless, you've done some nice work restoring them. I think any of the colour schemes could work, but I'd throw my vote in for the midpoint one between the more pure black and red variants.
