The only thing I don't understand is why you kept talking about Anakin himself while you clearly explained that the concept of Immaculate Conception refers to his mother rather than himself... Basically you didn't clearly explain why Anakin's *birth* wasn't an immaculate conception as you didn't talk about his mother at all, just his own sins and with that implied that the term is wrongly used.

This is a good video. I’d want to add that this show still doesn’t break lore. So in Episode 1 the movie they suggest that being birthed/conceived from the Force could be a sign of the Chosen One. But really what set it off was Anakin’s “midichlorian count” being so high. And in Episode 3, during that scene where Palpatine is explaining “The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis (spelling?)” he explains how the Midichlorians can be manipulated to create life. And the implication was to give the viewer the idea that Force healing could exist, but also that maybe Anakin’s birth was created as a result of someone else manipulating the Force. In the show The Acolyte, one of the witches explicitly says to the other “if they find out what you did” about how the twins were born. Meaning the witch manipulated the Force to create them.

My big issue is the power that the witches used to create the twins is derived from the dark side. It's the same power Darth Plagueis attempted to gain which in-turn caused the will of the force to create Anakin to counteract and destroy those perverting the force. For some reason, this coven believes they are "misunderstood" and only they truly understand the force. Absolute rubbish.

I appreciate your analysis and insight into Catholic typology, but I disagree that the Acolyte undercuts the symbolism of Anakin's virgin birth in the Prequels. While Anakin exhibits messianic characteristics, The Force is never shown to be a 1-1 comparison to the Christian God, and the original script leaves room for Anakin not to be the only example of conception via The Force.

As far as I've seen, Eastern *Orthodox* do not agree with the Immaculate Conception. They either don't teach on it specifically or just say that Mary only had no personal sin in her life but inherited original sin. If you're referring to Eastern *catholic* that still falls under the broadly catholic umbrella I said in the video

@@BecomeTheKnight I did have one orthodox friend that tried to convince me of the immaculate conception, so someones confused about smth idk. But the orthodox do not believe in original guilt at all from what i understand, but rather teach that adam made it to where we have a tendancy to sin but no guilt that isn't personal. Most of the easterners i've seen can't stand augustine or the western conception of original sin. I am a confessional Presbyterian so i don't really know all that much about the exact claims of rome or the east but i am a hardcore believer in original sin.

I disagree with your assessment. Anakin is not the focus of the Immaculate Conception, it is Shmi. Shmi was come upon (umm...phrasing?) by the Force as a vessel for a midichlorian fertilization. Anakin is irrelevant to the argument, as is Jesus, aside from variations in their origin stories. Their mothers are Immaculate. Also "Immaculate"=/="Virgin" technically speaking. Both mothers were vessels pure enough to be inhabited by and to give birth to the Spirit with the intent to fulfill a prophecy. Both successfully, I would argue. The Jedi having a rather Light biased definition of "Balance" when there were enough Jedi to basically be their own branch of government across the galaxy when the Sith were reduced to the point of myth by the time Anakin was born. Anakin's turn to the Dark Side was thus the proper fulfillment of his prophecy. Yoda, by comparison was the first to teach Luke to cast stones, while JC, what with all the footwashing, was apparently not a fan of sand either.

I find that most of the hate directed at Disney over the Acolyte has its roots in political and social bias. RWNJs tend to go looking for reasons to hate to hide their real reasons.
