I'm 9 weeks post op with my RTSR. Absolutely tickled beyond words. I had put surgery off because of fear and the horror stories i had heard about shoulder replacement surgery. I did my research and found a doctor whos bread and butter is shoulder replacements. I woke up pain-free and have been that way ever since. Fabulous experience and its given me my life back...

Sounds great! I’ve had 3 rotator cuff repair surgeries on the same shoulder and about 2 years out of the last surgery and I’m in a ton of pain think there’s more damage than before . Did the replacement make your arm weaker? Or can you still build muscle after ?
@tessquig960311 ай бұрын
@richards8663 muscle can be built back.to put the replacement parts in, thete will be a tendon ( bicep) and another moved out of way and reattached. Don't do more than Dr and PT says. It's slow and steady. Now 10 weeks post op. Weight is my only limits. At 5 lb max right now. But no other limits , no pain
@Wazup417711 ай бұрын
@richards8663 I'm back to working out. Nothing ridiculous weight wise, but yes, you will definitely be able to build muscle. The most important part of surgery, in my opinion is finding a skilled surgeon who does many replacements a year.

I'm 50, got hurt over two years ago. I've had three surgical procedures done in the past two years. With no improvement at all. My surgeons have done every procedure they can. To keep from having to do a complete reverse shoulder replacement. Now it's the only option left. My surgery is coming up soon. I can't wait to be rid of the pain. I can't wait to get my life back, and get back to work. I know it will never be what it was. But anything is better than what I have now.

Thank you for posting this video. After exhausting alternatives like physical therapy, I finally had reverse shoulder replacement surgery a month ago to remedy my frozen left shoulder. The results realized by the gentleman in this video and the comments people have posted are an inspiration as I continue my journey to improve my shoulder's mobility and strength after the procedure.

I have just had my 4th reverse left shoulder replacement in 20 months, previously the shoulder has dislocated just hours after the surgery, basically it has been out of joint since 10th of February 2023. However the operation l had on the 19th August has remained in joint. I had my right shoulder replaced in the spring of 2021, that went fine first time, and regained about 60% of mobility with hardly ang discomfort at all. I feel lucky that living in England we have the NHS, so the cost is covered by my national insurance contributions we pay from our wages directly to the national health service. I know l will never be able to return to working as a carpenter, but l am just grateful the pain has largely gone 🎉

I am in week six of my reverse shoulder replacement and my shoulder is very stiff and painful. I am exercising five times daily and it is still very stiff, Your video gives me hope that like the gentleman in the video, it will improve with time. This is my fourth shoulder operation, the first three were rotator cuff repairs and snapped tendons that all failed, hopefully this one works.

@SloopyDog I'm now 10 months post op on reverse shoulder replacement. I went back to the gym in June. I use machines that work my arms and build core muscles such as back and chest muscles. Going strong. I get tingling and sometimes a muscle spasm but I can do anything I want. After my 1 yr follow up I'm going to see oif I can use my .410 for bird hunting. Don't think I'm brave enough to try my 12 ga

@@tessquig9603 I am a year past my operation on my left shoulder. I don't get much pain but my shoulder is very stiff I have arthritis in most of my joints and spinal stenosis so it could be that is causing the stiffness. I was due to have my right shoulder replaced in September but I am desperate for a left hip replacement. I have been waiting over a year for my hip replacement but it can take years to see a consultant as the NHS is on its knees. It can take weeks to see a GP at my clinic. I'm afraid our health system has collapsed due to the thousands of migrants that pour into our country each day, for some unknown reason migrants get preferential treatment.

What type of conservative ROM exercises did you have him working on to achieve such good range in that amount of time. I’ve worked with many older adults after rTSA and have seen difficulty regaining these ranges. Do you think it’s a tissue quality thing or maybe the RTC in some still had quality tissue (mainly supraspinatus) that was reattached to assist the deltoid in overhead function?

@@OrthoEvalPalmorning, I’m just asking for my own clarification. I’m three weeks out from a serious enduro mountain bike crash. I have four fractured ribs, but most of all, a complete ruptured supraspinatus and infraspinatus, stains to the teres minor belly and subscap tendon, incomplete fracture of the anterior medial humeral head and a AC ligament A1 separation, (that’s old from previous biking mishaps). The tear is full thickness and retracted approx 4cm to the level of the AC joint. My question is it better to just go with a reverse shoulder or let them try to repair the tear? The surgeon I’m am working with is a highly experienced shoulder injury surgeon and works with many high level athletes in the Lake Tahoe CA area. (I’m just a 59 year old wanna-be but love to ride, fast.) I trust him greatly. Thanks.

I still have the same issue even after reverse shoulder surgery . I've had two so far and I'm wondering if it has to do with nerve damage since I dislocated my arm ?
@OrthoEvalPal10 ай бұрын
That is possible. Have you had EMG studies to rule that out? I actually have seen some with Axillary nerve issues which controls the delts. The Deltoids are key for good post op outcomes. Good luck!

Why does his right arm look longer than his one with the replacement? I heard your total replacement can make your arm longer but this looks opposite. Just saying. I had both shoulders replaced reverse shoulder replacement on both in 2019 & a good therapist is everything. I went to two different therapist’s. Big mistake. My first therapist was great but my second therapist was horrible. I never regained full range of motion. 😢 on the second surgery.
